Backstory - my mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2007, in a horrible way - the tumor had eaten completely through her colon. (The gastroenterologist we'd been taking her to for a month an a half couldn't find it, but the surgeon we took her to found it in three days. Don't even get me started.)
Anyways, the most awesome surgeon did a stomach bypass, took out as much of the cancer as he could, and refered her to the most awesome oncologist, who put her on chemo. No one expected her to make it, but she did. Tough one, my mom.
She had a flare up again in 2008. She was put back on chemo in January, and after regaining her strength, her hysterectomy was done. She was put on a hormone blocker in hopes to hold off more chemo, but it didn't work, and on my birthday last year, she started her most grueling chemo yet. That took quite a bit out of her, but as of right now, she's doing very well. She lives with my sister and I, and we make sure she's spoiled rotten.
She has her regularly scheduled CT tomorrow. For the past three years, she's had to start chemo in Jan or Feb, and I want more than anything for this scan to be clear so she can enjoy the spring and summer she's missed the passed three years.
(That and my sister and I will have to cancel our Disney trip to take care of her and get her to her doctor's appointments, and we REALLY need the getaway!)
