Jan. 3, 1916 – Artist Lou Debney was born. At age 17 he would join the Disney Studio and begin his career in the Cutting Department. Debney would soon become assistant director on “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” and work on most of the sequences directed by Ben Sharpsteen. His Disney credits would include all of the Goofy shorts (between 1939-1943) producer of “The Mickey Mouse Club” and “Zorro,” and production coordinator on “The Wonderful World of Color.” (Lou Debeny is the father of award-winning composer John Debney – known to Disney fans for his work on such features as “Hocus Pocus” and “Chicken Little.”)
Jan. 3, 1918 – Maxine Andrews, one-third of the popular singing trio The Andrew Sisters, was born in Minneapolis, Mn. Aside from frequently playing themselves in movies, the sisters sold over 60 million records and lent their singing voices to Disney’s “Make Mine Music” and “Melody Time.”
Jan. 3, 1931 – A letter (dated Jan. 3rd) was sent to animator ‘Grimm’ Natwick in N.Y.C. from Walt Disney Studio in Hollywood, Ca. Written by Roy Disney on behalf of Walt, it offered Natwick a position at the Studio. (Roy had traveled to N.Y.C. earlier to meet Natwick in an attempt to persuade him to move to the west coast. Natwick would finally work for Disney starting in 1934.)
Jan. 3, 1965 - Disneyland observed its 10th Anniversary with a “Tencennial Parade”.
Jan. 3, 1965 – The Disneyland TV Show aired “The Disneyland Tenth Anniversary Show.”
Jan. 3, 1965 – Walt Disney introduced a host of coming attractions to Disneyland on TV’s Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color. He is joined in this episode by Julie Reihm, the first Disneyland Ambassador who he refers to as Miss Disneyland.
Jan. 3, 1967 – The Disney TV show aired episode 3 of “Gallegher Goes West: Tragedy on the Trail.”

Jan. 3, 1989 – Actor Alex D. Linz, the star of “Max Keeble’s Big Move,” was born in Santa Barbara, Ca. His Disney credits include the voice of Young Tarzan in the 1999 Tarzan.
Jan. 3, 1991 – The Disney TV series “Blossom,” starring Mayim Bialik, Ted Wass, Michael Stoyanov, Jenna Von Oy, David Lascher, and Joey Lawrence, aired on NBC. (Aired for the last time on June 5, 1995)
