Jan. 2, 1898 – Animator, story director and writer Dick Huemer was born in N.Y.C. His Disney credits would include “The Wise Little Hen,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Dumbo,” and “Fanastia.”
Jan. 2, 1937 - Disney’s Mickey Mouse film “The Worm Turns” was released.
Jan. 2, 1938 – “The Mickey Mouse Theater of the Air,” debuted on NBC radio, sponsored by Pepsodent toothpaste, the program starred WaltDisney as the voice of Mickey Mouse.
Jan. 2, 1938 – Conductor Leopold Stokowski arrived in Los Angeles, Ca. for a session for Disney’s “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.”
Jan. 2, 1941 - Original Mouseketeer Bonni Lou Kern was born in Los Angeles, Ca.
Jan. 2, 1963 – Julie Piekarski was born in St. Louis, Missouri. She was a member of the 70’s Disney TV series “The New Mickey Mouse Club.” Piekarski also appeared on such hit shows as The Facts of Life, Different Strokes, and Three’s Company.
Jan. 2, 1967 - Actress Tia Carrere was Born in Honolulu, Hawaii; the voice of Nani in Disney’s 2002 Lilo & Stitch.
Jan. 2, 1977 - The “Mine Train Through Nature’s Wonderland” closed at Disneyland’s Frontierland and would be replaced by “Big Thunder Mountain”.
Jan. 2, 1977 – The Disney TV show “The Golden Dog” aired.
Jan. 2, 1979 – The “Dumbo’s Circus Parade” began performing in the Magic Kingdom at WDW. (Last performance Dec. 21, 1979)
