For those networking wizards out there....
I have a newly purchased gigabit router with 4 ports. In less than two weeks, I have come up with 5 devices that need plugged into a 4 port router. I have an old 10MB hub (NOT a switch, and NOT 10/100, just plain 10MB hub) that I could use to connect the two devices that operate at 10MB already, and save the 1000MB ports for the three devices that really use the gigabit speed.
Will using this 10MB hub slow the traffic between the three 1000MB ports on the router down to the 10MB speed, or will the speed remain unchanged as long as I am not connecting directly to either one of the two devices connected through the 10MB hub?
I am trying to expand my ports without buying a new gigabit switch, if I can get by with it.
