Dec. 17, 1994 – The “Planet Hollywood” restaurant opened in WDW.
Dec. 17, 1999 – Disney’s animated feature film “Fantasia/2000” debuted at Carnegie Hall in N.Y.
Dec. 17, 1999 – Western entertainer Rex Allen, Known for his work on many Disney films, died in Tucson, Arizona.
Dec. 17, 1999 – The Disney/Touchstone Pictures/Columbia Pictures film “Bicentennial Man” was released.
Dec. 17, 2002 - Disney’s “The Country Bears” were released on video and DVD.
Dec. 17, 2003 – The Disney film “Freaky Friday,” “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl,” “Finding Nemo,” and “Brother Bear,” were all nominated for SATELLITE Awards given by the International Press Academy.
Dec. 17, 2004 – Disney Channel and Toon Disney Channel were launched in India on Star.
Dec. 17, 2004 – It was announced that Victoria & Albert’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has been awarded a AAA Five Diamond rating for the fifth consecutive year.
Dec. 17, 2004 – Disney Channel premiered “Double Vision,” the 50th episode of “That’s So Raven.”
Dec. 17, 2007 – The Disney-MGM Studios logo on the animation courtyard archway was removed. The Disney-MGM Studios would become Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Jan. 2008.
