I am a huge fan of this ride. HUGE I say...until last December, when we got stuck on the side on the mountain, just RIGHT before reaching the top. MushuGrl doesn't do being stuck in high places. Luckily it only lasted about a minute and we started moving before I crawled out my skin and slid my way back down.

Have you seen this happen much? I'm actually contemplating not riding it on this trip for fear it will happen again.

I've never had it happen or seen it happen. I don't think this ride is prone to that sort of thing, in general. But of course, anything can happen, on any ride, at any time. So, if the fear is great enough, perhaps don't risk it, or learn to conquer that fear. Best wishes with it!

Except..... nothing happened. I don't fly, I thought I would never fly again, but last month a found a $180 round trip deal that I just couldn't pass up and I booked a last minute trip. You know what...... nothing happened (except for the delays.)

It happens from time to time. Like all rides that involve moving vehicles, switches, brake systems and computers, things can happen that will cause the ride to automatically shut down. Most times the CMs are able to restart the ride. But if the "ride stop" condition does not permit a quick restart, then the CMs must do what we call an "in show exit". This means the CMs go to each of the several places on the ride where the trains stop, and we evacuate the riders from the trains. The downside for you, the rider, is that you may have to be escorted down a narrow catwalk next to the track on the portion that goes from the Tibetan fortress up to the top of the mountain (a very high and scary portion of the track). The upside is that you may be escorted down a dozen flights of stairs and through the interior of the mountain (with an amazing look at the inside of the mountain's construction). It all depends on which location your train brakes to a stop. Either way, it will be an experience you will not soon forget!

Not wanting to add fuel to the fire here, but two Octobers ago we saw it stop just at the same spot you had happen in your experience. Except it didn't start again. I saw people being removed off the coaster and walking down the steep staircase down the mountain. It was a new ride then and scared me to see that happen. Especially thinking about if someone was one there that needed a wheelchair or scooter... how would they manage those steep stairs?!!

I remember seeing on the news about 6 years ago, a coaster at one of the Six Flags stopped and they had to take people off and down the stairs. Every time I'm on a coaster now I notice the stairs..I don't know how they would get me down...the stairs are more scary than the ride. :mickey:

This happend to me and my son, actually. We were just starting when it got stuck. We were on our way to the top of the first climb. It didn't start again and then we CMs came and started unloading the train, beginning with the first car. We were'nt that high up because we were about half way back, but the ones at the front were pretty high. It was exciting, but I'm not afraid of heights. My son was nervous at first, until I told him that this was probably a once in a lifetime experience and we should enjoy it. Now he likes to say how he really climbed down Everest!

Now, as terrified as I am, I'm all interested in this staircase.

(Not that I want that to happen again. I just want to point at it. Besides, if it DID happen, somebody'd have to tote my weenie, done passed out self down.)

Thanks everyone! I'm thinking I may give it a go again!
