Selling part of your DVC membership

Does anyone know if you can break up your DVC points and sell a part of your membership? For example, I have 200 points and would like to sell 100 of them. Can it be done?

Not unless you have 2 separate contracts. If your 200 points is all one contract, it cannot be split. However if you had 2 contracts for 100 each, then you could sell one or both separately. It's deeded.

Oh shoot. That's too bad. We have just 1 contract and wanted to split it. We even have a buyer already. Bummer!

I am pretty sure but why don't you call member services and talk to member administration just to double check (unless something may have changed). Good luck!

Not a chance... Disney is the only one who can break up the contracts, they would need to buy back the whole thing then they could sell it in pieces.

Your best option is to sell the entire contract and buy one for 100 points.

Just a little tweak on what I suggested. You might look at possibly upgrading through Disney for the 100 points, then sell off the original contract.

We did this to tke advantage of existing membership incentives (no closing costs, price discounts, free trips, etc) and then sold the original quickly.

Be careful, you dn't want to have to hang onto a couple of contracts for too long. Ours took about 2 weeks to sell, then the whoel ROFR process, etc.

Although you should compare the benefits of buying through Disney with the reduced costs of going secondary market before you do anything.
