We have family that are going to Disney in late February.

I thought a great Christmas gift would be a Disney gift card for them to use during their stay.

Anyone know if gift cards can be used to pay for dining? I'm thinking they could do a nice sit down dinner. Maybe I'll even include a dining guide so they could plan.

Thanks.

Yes you can pay for most meals at any disney owned property (even some that are not) I did this a year ago and was even able to add the tip to be taken off the gift card. The gift cards are a great way to keep all the money in one place. Also, if they misplace the card all they need is the receipt and they can have a new one reissued with the remaining balance.

We used a gift card on our last trip, but instead of dealing with a gift card at the restaurant, we charged the meal & tip to our room. We then just stopped at the front desk of the hotel and had the gift card applied to our room account. Much easier (assuming that you are staying on Disney property).
