Nov. 8, 2002 – Tokyo Disneyland (which now includes Tokyo DisneySea) welcomed its 300 millionth visitor, Mr. Yoko Kusunoki.
Nov. 8, 2002 – The 27th Annual Festival of the Masters, a 3-day showcase of art, culture, and cuisine, began in Downtown Disney at WDW.
Nov. 8, 2002 – The holiday light show “Luminara” started lighting up the night sky for the holiday season over Paradise Pier in Disneyland.
Nov. 8, 2003 – The “ABC Super Soap Weekend” began in Disney-MGM Studios at WDW.
Nov. 8, 2003 – The Haunted Mansion 3D GhostVision Tour came to Detroit, Michigan’s Oakland Mall for 2 days to celebrate the release of Disney’s Haunted Mansion.
Nov. 8, 2004 – It was reported that “The Incredibles” (which opened in theaters on Nov. 5, 2004) has taken $70.7 million in its 1st weekend in the U.S. (This beats Disney/Pixar’s previous record of $70.3 million for Finding Nemo.)
Nov. 8, 2004 – Disneyland began selling the “Gift Card” at merchandise locations throughout the resort. The cards could be purchased for $5 to $1,500.
Nov. 8, 2005 – It was reported that the Walt Disney Co. has signed a 12-year agreement with technology giant Siemens AG that include rights for Siemens to sponsor a number of attractions at WDW. Siemens, one of the largest electronics and engineering companies in the world, will have its brand on the Epcot icon, “Spaceship Earth,” the nighttime Epcot fireworks show “Illumination: Reflections of Earth,” as well as new attractions that will be incorporated into Innoventions.
Nov. 8, 2005 – “Duck Tales Volume 1,” a 3-disc box containing the first 27 episodes of the animated TV series, was released to DVD, also released was “Chip’n’Dale Rescue Rangers Volume 1” Box Set.
Nov. 8, 2005 – President George W. Bush announced the recipients of the 2005 National Medal of Arts. Among the ten winners was Disney animator and artist Ollie Johnson. He would be the first animator to receive the award since its founding in 1985. (The medals would be presented on Nov. 10th.)
