Oct. 22, 1990 – Buena Vista Records released the soundtrack to the Disney classic “Fantasia.”
Oct. 22, 1991 – Actor Sterling Holloway, the voice of Winnie the Pooh, was honored as a Disney Legend. Holloway’s countless Disney credits also include “Dumbo,” “Bambi,” and “The Jungle Book.”
Oct. 22, 1995 – Disney’s 2-hour TV movie “The Annette Funicello Story, A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes” aired on CBS.
Oct. 22, 1996 – The CD “A&E: An Evening with Mel Torme at the Disney Institute” was released.
Oct. 22, 1997 – The Orlando Sentinel reported that WDW plans to close “Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride” and replace it with “Hundred Acre Woods with Pooh and his Friends” in Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom.
Oct. 22, 1999 – The Disney film, directed by Martin Scorsese, “Bringing Out the Dead” was released.
Oct. 22, 2003 – A 60th anniversary presentation of Disney’s 1943 feature “Victory Through Air Power” was screened at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences in Beverly Hills, Ca.
Oct. 22, 2003 – The U.S. Senate Committee on Governmental Affair held a business meeting at 10:30 am in Room 342 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building. Among matters discussed: H.R. 1610, to redesignate the facility of the United States Postal Service, located at 120 East Ritchie Avenue in Marceline, Missouri, as the “Walt Disney Post Office Building.”
Oct. 22, 2004 – A blackout forced Tokyo DisneySea to shut its doors 4 hours early.
Oct. 22, 2006 – Golfer Joe Durant shot a bogey-free 7-under 65 in the final round of the FUNAI Classic at the WDW Resort, finishing 25 under and picking up his first PGA Tour victory since March 2001.
