Could any of you spare some pixie dust? My son Sean was confirmed with the swine flu yesterday, and is flat on the couch. The flu is one thing, but I worry, because the nurse said this strain is leading to pneumonia in some cases. Well, my son has asthma to begin with, so I'm being the worried mom right now. I hear every cough! That and then he comments that his chest is tight. Ugh! He's just worried because he's missing a week of high school! And on top of it, every one of his teachers just emailed a load of homework for him to do. I understand them not wanting him to get behind, but you should see all the work! Ok, done venting now, thanks for listening! :mickey:

Prayers and pixie dust on the way! I am sure he will feel better soon. But he definitely needs to rest- the work will still be there when he feels better.

I will also send some pixie dust ... I had asthma when I was young, and also had pneumonia twice.
I hope he is feeling better soon. :pixie:

Sending lots of:pixie::pixie::pixie: for a quick recovery with no complications. We just went through it with our 15 year old daughter and all she worried about was the school she was missing. Being mom I was worried about her asthma and the high fever she had 103 for 3 days. She is finally back to her self after 1 week down and out and another week of slowly working her way back to healthy. The cough worried me as it hung on for over a week. She still gets tired easily. So I know what you are going through. Hang in there!!

Lisa, my son also has asthma and I worry about him catching this. So sorry your son came down with it and I hope he feels better soon and has no trouble catching up at school.

Plenty of pixie dust headed your way.

Thank you so much, everyone, I really appreciate the kind words. Hoping today's a little bit better. He came in at 1 am and again at 3 am last night, had soaked right through all his bedding! Such a worry when your kids are sick. Just all part of parenting, I suppose. This one hit him hard though, I have to say. I haven't seen him this sick in years. Zippy- glad to hear your daughters doing fine, sounds like it takes a while. I'm sure you heard every cough as well! :mickey:

Sending prayers and pixie dust for both of you.
There is nothing worse in the world than having a sick child, no matter what the age and not being able to kiss it and make it better right away.

I'm so sorry your son is sick. My little one's have been sick to, but knock on wood, it hasn't been the flu, just a cold.

You may want to contact your son's school about the work and find out what their expectations are. Once they find out how sick he is, they may give him a grace period on when all of the work he is missing is due.

Disneymom4ever, these are the posts that I dread reading. My son has terrible asthma and I'm so worried about him this winter. The simplest virus for most people has put him in the ER.

I truly hope your son gets well soon!

here's some more Pixie Dust for a speedy recovery. I'm counting down the days until the H1N1 flu shot is available.

Since he has asthma he'll be able to get it but will he still need it since he's already gotten the flu? With all the reading I've done on this, that's one question I haven't seen come up yet.

All 4 of my kids came down with the flu while we were at Disney last week. It was not confirmed swine flu, but they had every symptom except diarrhea. None of them have any underlying issue, but to a degree I understand how you're feeling.

My prayers are with you.

Sending many prayers your way for your son's speedy recovery.

School work will be there when he gets better, right now he just needs to let his body rest and fight off the illness.

Sending lots more :pixie: for a quick recovery. I agree, the schoolwork will still be there in a couple of days. Your son needs lots of rest right now.
I've got the flu myself and rest, rest, rest, has been the word of the day since Tuesday :)

Oh, I'm sorry you have the flu, Jeanne! Definitely rest, that's the best thing. It does take a while, my son ended up being out the whole week. But feeling much better now, just that lingering cough that won't go away. This was quite the flu for him! Take care of yourself. :mickey:
