Sept. 13, 2001 – Actress Dorothy McGuire, known for her roles in many Disney films, died at the age of 85 in Los Angeles.
Sept. 13, 2001 – Singer/actress Maya Days stepped into the role of “Aida” for the first time in Disney’s Broadway musical “Aida.” She is the 2nd actress to portray the lead character.
Sept. 13, 2002 – The Lizzie McGuire episode “Movin’ On Up” aired on the Disney Channel.
Sept. 13, 2002 – Disney’s documentary film “The Sweatbox” was released.
Sept. 13, 2004 – The attraction “The Magic of Disney Animation,” at Disney-MGM Studios closed for rehab. (Closed through Oct. 17, 2004)
Sept. 13, 2004 – The Disney attraction “The Magic Carpets of Aladdin” in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom closed for rehab. (re-opened Oct. 16, 2004)
Sept. 13, 2004 – Disney’s syndicated talk show “The Tony Danza Show” began airing.
Sept. 13, 2005 – “Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween” (an all-new original movie) was released to DVD and VHS.
Sept. 13, 2007 – WDW’s Haunted Mansion” reopened after a summer refurbishment…just in time for the Halloween season.
Sept. 13, 2008 – Disney’s “High School Musical 2: School’s Out!” street show gave its last performance at Disney hollywwod Studios at WDW. (Replaced by “High School Musical 3: Senior Year.”
