Sept. 9, 2003 – Disney historian Leon Janzen passed away after suffering a heart attack. The 57-year old was best known for starting and maintaining (along with his brother Jack) “The E-Ticket Magazine” since 1986. He was also an avid collector of early 1950’s toys and books.
Sept. 9, 2003 – “Radio Disney: Kid Jams, Vol. 6” was released. The enhanced CD featured such artists as Hilary Duff, Atomic Kitten, Hampton and the Hamsters, and Stevie Brock.
Sept. 9, 2004 – The Walt Disney World Food Drive took place during the Night of Joy with collection stations located at the Ticket and Transportation Center and the main gate of the Magic Kingdom.
Sept. 9, 2004 – Walt Disney Co. CEO Michael Eisner announced (in a letter) that he will retire from the Walt Disney Co. after Sept. 2006, when his contract expires.
Sept. 9, 2004 – WDW’s 22nd Night of Joy began at the Magic Kingdom. The 3-day event included concerts by Christian music stars Michael W. Smith, Avalon, Jars of Clay, Point of Grace, and Steven Curtis Chapman. (It is the first time the event has started on a Thursday night.)
Sept. 9, 2005 – The 23rd annual edition of WDW’s “Night of Joy” kicked off for 2 nights at the Magic Kingdom.
Sept. 9, 2005 – “Eisner Comments on Disney” (an Associated Press article by William Foreman) was released. The Disney CEO reflects on his last 21 years with the company.
Sept. 9, 2005 – The 23rd Annual “Night of Joy” began in the Magic Kingdom at WDW. (2-day event)
Sept. 9, 2005 – The biggest Disney Pin Trading Event “The Happiest Pin Celebration on Earth” began at Epcot in WDW.
Sept. 9, 2006 – Disney’s special event “Imagine the Possibilities – A Friendly Figment Reunion” was held in the Odyssey Restaurant in Epcot at WDW.
