Sept. 2, 1997 – “Tropical Serenade” (also called The Enchanted Tiki Birds) at WDW closed for extensive renovations. (It would reopen in April of 1998 as “The Enchanted Tiki Room – Under New Management.)
Sept. 2, 2001 – The “Disneyana Convention” began in Disneyland, (Ran through Sept. 8, 2001)
Sept. 2, 2002 – Disney’s animated comedy-action series “Teamo Supremo,” began airing daily on Toon Disney.
Sept. 2, 2002 – The Disney Channel Comedy Series “That’s So Raven” began airing in Britain.
Sept. 2, 2002 – “The Power of Blast!” gave its last performance at the Hyperion Theater at Disney’s California Adventure. Running since Nov. 2001, the show featured a 40-member cast performing five musical numbers in a single, half-hour act.
Sept. 2, 2003 – “Kim Possible: The Secret Files” was released direct-to-video.
Sept. 2, 2004 – Epcot’s newest gallery exhibit, “Echoes of Africa” opened in the American Adventure.
Sept. 2, 2004 – WDW announced that its theme and water parks would operate on a reduced schedule on Fri. Sept. 3, 2004 due to the threat of Hurricane Francis. Downtown Disney would close at 6 p.m. and Pleasure Island would be closed Friday night.
Sept. 2, 2006 – This day’s broadcast of the Today show featured Josh Strickland and Jenn Gambatese, who portrayed Tarzan and Jane in the new Disney musical “Tarzan.” They were joined by composer Phil Collins for a behind-the-scenes look at the Broadway production.
Sept. 2, 2008 – Disney’s “Tigger & Pooh Hundred Acre Wood Haunt” was released on DVD.
