VB In October

Has anyone been to VB in October? As it happens I will be in Orlando on business in early October and will have a weekend to do whatever. The plan is that my family will fly out and join me for a long weekend over Columbus Day. My kids have never been to VB (although us adults have). If you were there did you think the ocean was too rough at that time of year? I know weather wise, it's still failry wam. Thoughts?

October is lovely at VB. Warm enough for swimming in the surf as well as in the pool. We did not find the waves too rough, but that really depends a lot on the weather.

The kids will love the turtle stuff.

One thing, though, there are lots of bugs there. All over the balconies, sometimes in the rooms. We had to change rooms twice while we were there a few years ago -- the first time because of sugar ants all over the furniture, the second because a housekeeper had left the balcony door open and "lovebugs" were all over the inside of the room. The third time was the charm.
