Here's the scenario:
You are staying at WDW for seven nights, and dining at a different country in World Showcase each night.
Which 4 countries do you choose to leave out?

Hmmm....you'll get some interesting responses to this one, I'm sure. For me, my responses are based on my personal tastes, as there are some types of food I just don't care for. I would omit:

Morocco
Italy
Norway
France

My DH is quite picky and not very adventerous when it comes to new things.:secret:

Ok, because I am VERY simple minded, my list is of the places that I WOULD have to go to....

Japan - sushi and drinks
Canada - Cheese soup!!!!
Moracco - taste of everything!
England - great view
Mexico - but, would sit at the Cantina de San Angel in the evening and (I'm cheating here) use the sit down at Norway for character breakfast
France - because I've never had a sitdown meal there - yes, it's true!
China - must have Dim Sum

America - It is only CS
China - Chinese is Chinese
Germany - Too fatty and greasy
Morocco- Didn't see anything I thought I would eat

Yeah, this is easy for us.

Would leave out:

America
Morocco
Mexico (Lived in Arizona too long...good mexican there. Not impressed with San Angel)
Germany

Many of you have said that you'd skip Norway. We rather like Norway. The salad bar is great (cheeses, sliced meats like ham, all you can eat shrimp...), and there are some really good items on the menu, if you're at all open with your food tastes. The Chicken Breast and Pork Chop are very good, but I usually get the Traditional Kjottkake. It's really a lot like a Salisbury Steak or Meat Loaf. It's tasty. Even our kids (DS 12, DD 9, and DD 4) enjoy eating here.

We've tried all the pavilions, but we've never eaten at Bistro de Paris or the other Japanese restaurant (we've done Teppan Edo...what's the other dining option there besides the Yakitori House?)

1) America - nothing but burgers, and you can get that at any burger joint.

2) Mexico - I live in Mexican food paradise, and I think San Angel food stinks. You can get better ANYWHERE.

3) China - like a PP said, you can get good chinese at home and for much cheaper.

4) Germany - you can get the same type of food at the counter service for lunch.

Don't listen to these other poster. Norway is great. I was scared to go there, but their food is as good as any other country.

As a previous poster said, I too enjoy Norway very much.

But I would leave out:

Morocco - never interested my tastebuds
America - already live in America
Italy - don't care for Italian food
China - only because I had to pick a fourth one

On the other 7 this is how I would go: (not that you asked :eat:)

Germany
Japan
Mexico
France
UK
Norway
Canada

103 days to go!:cloud9:

America
Mexico
China
....
and probably Norway.

Although, I've already dined at Morocco, Canada, Italy, and will be trying Germany next month. We've eaten in Norway, but only breakfast, so I might be tempted to give it a shot for dinner sometime. But it's not on my short list of must-try places.

America - Can get it anywhere

Norway - We live in western WI where there are lots of Norwegians and their food. Frankly I'm not much of a fan

Japan - DH won't even try Japanese food (even though I know he'd like it --ughhhhhh!)

The american pavilion has nothing of value....

china (nine dragons) is the same chinese you can get anywhere at 3X the cost

a buffet of poached fish? pass on Norway

Tough call....but i would probably say morocco....not that i don't enjoy both their sitdown and quickserve...it's just that they don't really feature anything "wow" to me

Mexico would be the next dishonorable mention...as it is overpriced standard issue american mexican food....the ambience bumps it past morocco

I love the variety of choices everyone is picking. I don't know if there is a clear cut winner (or loser). I think I'll tally them up in a day or so...

Do NOT skip Norway!! The schoolbread and the waffles are awesome!! Also we loved the princess breakfast at Norway!! Go to NORWAY!

skip America- you can get it here anyway!
skip Morocco- way too weird!
skip China- easy to get better at home and
skip Mexico- Mexican food is easy too.
But I loved the Mexico boat ride. Dont skip that!

These are my four:
1. America - only counter service...BORING!
2. Norway - only character dining or counter service.
3. Germany - too greasy and family style.
4. Morocco - my DH doesn't like that style of food.

Wherever you choose you'll have a great meal. :-) Happy eating!!

I would leave out....

Mexico.....have never read a good review of San Angel Inn, although I would def. visit and ride the Rio de Tiempo.

China.....again, have never read a good review of Nine Dragons. I don't want to pay TS prices for something I can get for cheap-o buffet prices at home.

Italy.....like others have said, too easy to get at home.

Norway.....Akershus, been there done that already.:D

Oy! I hope you're staying at an Epcot area resort since you're planning to trek to World Showcase every night.

For me I would be sure to include Norway (no, it isn't Outback but thank goodness for that). We also enjoyed 9 Dragons in China.

I would include Greece as in Kouzzina which is a short walk out the International Gateway. It's new, it's Cat Cora and it's close to World Showcase.

I wouldn't eat at...

America
China
Italy
maybe France

Apparently, I'm the only one who loves Moroccan food! Lamb and coucous *drools*

Menai2WDW
08-25-2009, 09:20 AM
For me it would be

1) Morroco - nothing that inspires me on the menu
2) UK - All of the worst examples of food from home
3) Mexico - Two poor meals here mean I will not be going back
4)America - Boring counter service that you can get so many other places

Wow, that's a great idea. i might have to plan a trip some day that specifically revolves around that plan!

Here's what I WOULD do:

1. Mexico: My favorite pavilion and restaurant in WS.

2. Norway: Delicious change of pace and great desserts!

3. Morocco: Back to the spicier dishes, plus music and belly dancers! Also they have great desserts too.

4. Canada: Great cuisine, I love this style. Give me something Northwoods like planked salmon, and I'm happy.

5. China: I love Chinese food, and I like Nine Dragons a lot. Yum.

6. UK: When the beer comes in a "yard" I guess you've got to give it a try. They food sounds unappealing, but after three feet of beer, who will really care?

7Italy: Being Italian-American, I could easily go through life without ever eating Italian food again. I think I had it every night for the first 27 years of my life (just kidding). Anyway, the menu looks pretty appetizing, so I'd try it.

Here are ones I'd SKIP:

1. France: The food just doesn't appeal. Besides, I'd cheat and head over there for wine and dessert anyway...:thedolls:

2. America: Well, there isn't much of a restaurant here, and we can get burgers anywhere in the parks.

3. Germany: The restaurant and atmosphere look wonderfull, but the food looks a little iffy to me. What is saurkraut anyway? I'm missing the beer though.

4. Japan: I guess I'll get my Asian fix in China, though I am fully aware that it is not the same thing. A tough choice to skip this one over Italy.
