Has anyone been there yet? (I heard they opened Aug 4th)

Is it as good as they claim?

Hi, we are here now. This place is amazing!!
We are on the 11th floor in the south wing. We got both a lake AND a Magic Kingdom view!
Request a room on an upper level. 5th floor is great because that is actually where the walkway is to the MK. If you get 5th floor ask for south wing so you do not have everyone going to the walkway walking by your door at 2am.

You must have a key to even come on the grounds. You can not walk in the building without a key!

Your description sounds incredible! Is there fencing around BLT that prevents others from walking onto the property? How is it separated from the rest of CR? What size room are you in? Are your points for a Bay Lake view or MK view? Have you been in your room or lounge to watch Wishes? Been in the lounge yet? Please share as you experience more! Thanks :mickey:

We check in to BLT the day before you. I've heard a lot of positive comments about BLT from the visitors who just checked in yesterday.

I have read posts n seen pics on another website which I will not mention..... but it was all about BLT'S opening day and everyone has given it a positive review except for design flaws in the bathroom.

I assume you are referring to the lack of a lock on the bathroom door?

The hotel was awesome! We stayed on the 1st floor and loved it. Make sure you check out the observation deck on the top floor. Great place to watch MK fireworks. I agree with the comment about the bathroom. Not only is there no lock, but the door does not slide "securely" meaning there are small cracks around the door where you can see into the bathroom! Bad design!

As far as "tourists" coming in, all doors require your room key to enter. However, there were many people milling around waiting for someone to open the doors.

My points were for a Bay Lake view. I got the best of both worlds. We have already booked for February.
We never made it to the lounge. You have to check in at 4:30 and be escorted to the observation deck. We were never around at that time so we missed out. We are hoping that they will change that and people staying there will be able to get in with a key at any time before the fireworks in the future.

I agree, the bathroom is really bad. My husband, being in the room with woman, was not amused. The 2nd bathroom in the hall by the entrance had a large enough crack that you could see her changing from the kitchen.

There is not much to complain about but that is a real flaw that should be fixed soon. We also noticed that the granite countertops were not sealed. Any drink left on the counter left a ring. Hopefully they will get them sealed. It could be a hazard with people cooking... eeewww.
We took some great family photos while we were there too. I hope to get them up on my webshots soon.

Do we know why the bathroom doors are so poorly installed and designed? That is not Disney at all. I can see my 3 yr old Nephew coming in while Aunt D is doing her business. I hope they get it fixed by November.

We leave in 3 weeks. We are staying in a standard studio 3 nights prior to our DCL Wonder 4 night cruise. Can't wait, even if it is just a standard studio at BLT. We are staying in a cat 11 on deck 5 when we get on the ship. We are celebrating our 32nd wedding anniversary.

We just found out that we have a MK View for the Thanksgiving holiday!

What is this? A walkway to MK? I assume this is something different than the ground-level path that has always existed?

Sorry to tell you they meant the fifth floor walkway to the Contemporary tower. The walkway takes you to the monorail that gives you MK access. Sorry, no secret walkway to the park.:(

So does this mean that you cannot go up to the lounge in the evening, say after dinner? You can only go up at 4:30 OR do you check-in at 4:30 and then are escorted up later when you are ready? We have dinner reservations at The Wave on our first night in Oct and planned on heading up to the lounge after dinner to watch the 9:30 Hallowishes. Will this be possible???

The observation deck is open from 4:30 to midnight. However they do limit the amount op people allowed in. So, if you are there at 4:30 you will probably get in. If you wait until 7 to get in it will probably be full. It is a hard call...
