Aug. 3, 1990 – The animated feature film, “Duck Tales: The Movie – Treasure of the Lost Lamp” was released in the U.S., under the Disney MovieToons Label.
Aug. 3, 1994 – Tokyo Disneyland welcomed its 150th-millionth guest.
Aug. 3, 2000 – The 1st showing of a sing a long version of Walt Disney’s Academy Award winning classic “Mary Poppins” was held at Disney’s El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, Ca. and would run until Sept. 10, 2000.
Aug. 3, 2000 – The Family Television Awards were handed out at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, Ca. The Disneyland TV series (which first debuted in 1954) earned a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Aug. 3, 2001 – Disney’s romantic comedy “The Princess Diaries,” starring Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway, opened in theaters.
Aug. 3, 2001 – The Lizzie McGuire episode “Sibling Bonds” debuted on the Disney Channel.
Aug. 3, 2003 – Pre-opening membership sales for WDW’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa began. The vacation club property is scheduled to open in May 2004.
Aug. 3, 2004 – Disney’s “The Black Hole” was re-issued on DVD. (The original DVD release had Audio problems.)
Aug. 3, 2006 – ENCORE! Cast Choir And Orchestra (made up of Disney Cast Members) performed “The Spark of Creation,” at WDW. The show would benefit Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Aug. 3, 2007 – Walt Disney Pictures “Underdog,” a live-action film based on the cartoon, was released.
