Aug. 1, 2000 – The Disney computer animated film “A Bug’s Life,” “Hercules,” and “The Rescuers Down Under” were released on home video.
Aug. 1, 2002 – “Once Upon A Toy,” a 16,000-square-foot toy store, officially opened at WDW’s Downtown Disney Marketplace.
Aug. 1, 2004 – Classic “Disneylander” Chuck Boyajian, the first Manager of Custodial operations at the Anaheim park in 1955, passed away. He also assisted with the opening of WDW in 1971, and with Tokyo Disneyland in 1983.
Aug. 1, 2005 – The Walt Disney World Shopping & Dining Gift Card became available for purchase from $5.00 to $1500.00 increments.
Aug. 1, 2006 – Disney released “Winnie the Pooh Wonderful World Adventure” and “The Shaggy Dog” on DVD.
Aug. 1, 2006 – It was announced in Playbill that Stagedoor Manor (the New York summer camp made famous by the Movie Camp) would be home to the first stage production of Disney Channel’s original movie “High School Musical.”
Aug. 1, 2006 – The three teachers from Dutchtown Middle School in Geismar, Louisiana, who swept the 2006 Disney Teacher Awards, are celebrated at a Disneyland ceremony in Anaheim, Ca. Kathryn Pilcher and LSU alumnae Amanda Mayeaux and Monique Wild were awarded three times for: the 2006 Youth Service America Award, the 2006 Disney Outstanding Middle School Teacher Award, the 2006 Disney Outstanding Middle School Teacher Award and the 2006 Disney Teacher of the Year Award.
Aug. 1, 2007 – The Disney Theatrical Production “High School Musical” stage show had its grand opening at the LaSalle Bank Theatre in Chicago, Il.
Aug. 1, 2007 – Disney’s newest touring production “High School Musical” had its debut at Chicago’s LaSalle Bank Theatre.
Aug. 1, 2007 – The “Eagle Pines” golf course closed at the WDW Resort.
