July 13, 1974 – Singer Deborah Cox, the last to portray Aida in Disney’s Broadway production, was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
July 13, 1975 – Actor Braden Danner, a member of the 90’s TV show “The All New Mickey Mouse Club,” was born in Indianapolis, In.
July 13, 1992 – Jim Henson Productions and the Disney Channel announced a distribution agreement for “Fraggle Rock” and other Henson properties.
July 13, 1994 – The soundtrack to Disney’s animated “The Lion King” was released on Walt Disney Records. The disc features Elton John’s “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” which would win an Oscar for Best Song.
July 13, 1995 – Disney’s “Pocahontas” soundtrack reached #1 on the Billboard Charts.
July 13, 2001 – The Disney Channel Original Movie “The Jennie Project” premiered.
July 13, 2002 – The six-week summer music series “Disney’s Rockin’ The Bay” at Disney’s California Adventure was opened by “The Beach Boys.”
July 13, 2006 – Comedian/actor Red Buttons passed away at his home in Ca. at age 87. Disney fans would remember him as the cowardly Hoagy who assisted Doc Terminus in Disney’s 1977 “Pete’s Dragon.”
July 13, 2007 – Disney’s MGM-Studios 13-story “Twilight Zone Tower of Terror” attraction marked its 13th anniversary on this Friday the 13th.
July 13, 2007 – Disney Channel ranked number 1 in the Nielsen Media Research ranking for this evenings broadcast between 8:00-9:30. Disney bet all of the cable as well as the broadcast stations, snaring 5.1 million total viewers! Original episodes of the comedies “Hannah Montana,” “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody,” and “Cory in the House” were shown.
