June 20, 2002 – The Recording Academy’s Los Angeles Chapter honored Walt Disney Music President Chris Montan, singer Janet Jackson, and film/TV composer Thomas Newman at its annual Membership Awards Luncheon. Montan is responsible for overseeing music for a wide variety of Disney productions, video premieres, musical event programming as well as other corporate and theme park-related shows.
June 20, 2003 – The Disney Channel’s TV series “That’s So Raven” aired the episode “A Dog by Any Other Name.”
June 20, 2004 – The Food Network aired “Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings” hosted by Sandra Pinckney.
June 20, 2004 – The “Mickey’s All-American Pin Festival” honoring the U.S. Olympic Team for the 2004 Summer Games began at Disneyland. (Ran through Aug. 14, 2004)
June 20, 2005 – The WDW theme parks eliminated the need for reentry “hand stamps” as you exit the theme parks. In addition, biometrics is now in use for all tickets, even those purchased before the beginning of this year.
June 20, 2006 – Disney announced that actress Brittany Murphy would provide the voice for the fairy Tinker Bell in an upcoming animated film. (The character of Tinker Bell has been silent in the past.) Fans of the animated series King of the Hill will recognize Murphy as the voice of Luanne Platter.
