We are travelling to WDW the end of this summer and were hoping the Space Mountain would be re-opened by then. Does anyone have any updated news on SM? Thanks.

Disney will say only that Space Mountain will be closed for refurbishment until late 2009. I wouldn't expect it to be open during your visit.

On the Rehab link it says it will be closed until November 21st, 2009.

we were told by a friend who works there that it is scheduled for Nov. 21 2009

I hope it is similar to the one at DL. SM at DL was a lot better than SM at WDW. I look forward to the rehab.
The projected date is before Thanksgiving for soft openings that I have heard so the 21st sounds about right.
As more details emerge about the refurb I think many of us are going to be greatly disappointed :( I have heard beside replacing some old track sections and the ride control system the only other work is taking place in the queue
