Has anyone ever done a water park only trip?

We went in April and unfortunately had to spend it off-site in our inlaws time share (you may remember my rants about it on here).

Because we were closer to Universal than WDW we bought 7 day Universal passes (for MUCH cheaper than WDW passes) but found that the parks didn't really offer a weeks worth of entertaiment. Because of that we went to Typhoon Lagoon for a day and we were hooked right back into all things WDW. We ended up going back a second day and it cost us just about what we had paid for a week at Univeral.

So thinking about our next trip, I pondered staying at POP instead of our beloved Beach Club, and just doing the water parks. Sounds like an ok idea until I think of how torturous it could be being in a Disney resort and not going to any of the parks.

If anyone out there has done a water park only trip I would love to hear about it and it's pros and cons.

Thanks as always for the help!
Jay

DH had a convention there a few years back and we only had a few free hours each day. We went to the parks for one day (at the beginning) out of the 6 we were there.

I spent alot of my time going to the other resorts via buses and lazing about the resort. We also in the evenings, went to resort restaurants and walked around the grounds. I don't think it would be much different than if you went just to the waterparks.

I've stayed at POP and FQ and would have no problem spending the day amusing myself at FQ, but I don't think I could have at POP.

So maybe a compromise is to stay at a mod and then plan to things at the resorts like horseback riding, Wilderness segway tour, Hoop De Doo, etc. You could still even go and watch the fireworks from the Poly or one of the boat tours.

Personally, I couldn't get that close to a Dolewhip and not get in to get one! :D Though, I have heard rumors that you can get them at Poly . . . .

Good Luck with your Trip! :)

I did a waterpark only trip once. It was my Aunt, cousin, cousin's friend and me and my daughter. DD was only 5 at the time and not very adventurous. I was 8 months pregnant with DS so we didn't do much but hang out in the kiddie area and the wave pool. It was a relaxing fun day. We arrived one day, hit the water park the next day and then headed home the following day. We stayed at All Star Music.

If we were only there for a long weekend (2-4 days), I think we would enjoy a water park only visit to WDW just fine. But any longer than that and I would be itchin' to go to a theme park, especially MK to see Wishes (I know you can see it from outside the park but it's not the same to me unless I'm right on main street in front of the castle, up close and personal). But we love TL and BB and usually visit them several times during our normal week-long Disney vacations.

I am pretty sure they have water park season passes also. That could be a cheaper route if you plan on doing that more often
