A little history... I honeymooned at WDW (http://inlinethumb55.webshots.com/45110/2598047100102098585S500x500Q85.jpg) and came home with my little unexpected souvenir.

Finances were tight early on and our first family trip (http://inlinethumb03.webshots.com/45186/2895433800102098585S500x500Q85.jpg) didn't happen until 2000, when I won a trip from a radio station. We've gone back through the years (http://inlinethumb47.webshots.com/25774/2230800930102098585S500x500Q85.jpg). And now that Disney baby (Nick) is 18, about to graduate, and he cut a fine figure at the prom with his date, Alex.

Prom 1 (http://inlinethumb50.webshots.com/33585/2084176860102098585S500x500Q85.jpg)

Prom 2 (http://inlinethumb14.webshots.com/32077/2179852010102098585S500x500Q85.jpg)

I'm proud and wanted to share. Thanks! He heads to college in the fall, and who knows when we'll fit in another family trip. Soon, I hope.

Oh wow! Thank you so much for sharing the pictures and progression...as cliche as it sounds, they DO grow up so fast!
He looks very handsome and his date's dress is gorgeous!!

Congrats to you on a very handsome college bound son!

Nice pictures. DS17 went to his prom a couple of weeks ago. He will be a senior next year. Time sure flies by fast. DS21 will be a senior at SU and DS19 will be a sophomore at Oswego State. DD12 will be going into 7th grade. Our trip in October was only with the younger because of the older two in college. It was very different without the entire family (but cheaper). This year we are thinking Thanksgiving and the older two can fly down during their 5 day break. We'll see.

OMG they are a handsome pair! Again they do grow fast. I have a senior graduating this year also and he is not going on our trip this year to WDW how sad...

Thanks for sharing with us. Your son is a very handsome young man. My DD just went to prom a few weeks ago and is graduating this Saturday. I have no idea where the time went. I know that I am grateful for all the family trips we took to WDW and all the wonderful memories.

Beautiful photos! His date's dress is gorgeous! I have seen a lot of prom photos this year and seen some, um, interesting dresses. Her dress is gorgeous and classic and very tasteful. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, everyone! I love her dress, too. Our morning paper has the prom pictures up on the website, and I think Alex's dress is one of the nicest, a classic. There is quite an array.

I'm adding another shot so you can get the full view of the front of her dress. :)

They look so good! Is he going to college close to home? That would make it a little easier on you. I actually went on family vacations through college. This past October was the first trip my parents took without my sister and me since I was two! Now I'm still traveling with them when it works out and when it doesn't Mom and my sister and I go together (Dad has his own business and can't seem to get away when we want to go) so we're still having family vacations (and have more planned for the future!). Those pictures made me feel so old! I started thinking back to my prom and realized that it was 9 years ago (yikes! :old: ) and my date has been married for 2 years.

He's going to school in Maine, a three-four hour drive from here depending on traffic. He'll be closer to our other favorite vacation area, the Ogunquit/Wells area. His sister's going to France in 2010, so that throws off our family vacation schedule. Maybe 2011, depending on schedules, but that's the year my daughter graduates and I'll have two in college. So we'll just wait and see.

Sherri, thanks for sharing the story! So sweet.

With your daughter in France, you are just going to have to visit. The sacrifices we make for our kids, huh? ;)

Thanks!

She's only going for nine days, French club field trip. It just cuts into vacation budget enough to rule out WDW, with the addition of regular tuition payments to the mix. But I would love to visit! Parents can go along, but she's not crazy about the idea. I'll let her have this one without me.

It's hard to let go. Nick graduated tonight, and while I was prepared for it, it just hit me unexpectedly. He's going to be moving away! Ack! I'm so proud, but gosh I will miss him. Of course, he will be back for breaks.

Sherri: I feel for you with your first graduating high school and moving away to college. I cried on/off that summer before DS#1 was to go to U. of Kentucky (we lived in VA at the time) 8 hours away. We moved him into the dorm and moved to NY a week later -- 12 hours away from him. Very tough year for me. Now he is an hour away at Syracuse and will be a senior and it does get easier. DS#2 will be a sophomore and he's 90 minutes away. Not any easier to let the second one go either; but you do adjust. I still have two more at home.

I don't know what school your son is attending, but if it happens to be UNE, that is where I am. It is a very good/safe area. At least he will be just a bit away!

Thanks again, all. :)

And thanks, Karen, he'll actually be at USM. The campus is spread between Gorham and Portland with a bus system linking them. When my husband and son went to tour, the buses seemed really familiar to them. It turns out, the university bought and revamped old Disney buses! No wonder they felt right at home.

I didn't know that!! Funny! I am a USM Alum! I still take the occasional class at the Portland campus (for work). The Portland campus has changed so much (for the good) since I graduated *AHEM, Cough, Cough* 12 years ago!

Best of luck to your son! Again, great pics! Look me up if there is any info you need from here.

BTW-you have a twin here in Maine! In the pic of you during your honeymoon, you look like a friend I grew up with!!
