My DS has reached the 6 month mark of not needing any transfusions. They now classify him as being in remission. This is his 3rd time in remission and we are hopeful that it will last for a while. The 1st time he went in he was in for 27 months, the 2nd time he went in it was for 1 year. I'm just so thankful that he's gone in again because only about 11% of patients with Diamond Blackfan Anemia even go into remission. I'm so happy that I could yell out the window and jump up and down.:joy::woohoo::dance:

Thanks everyone, I so want this to last but anytime we can get way from transfusions is a blessing. With his last transfusion we had quite a scare. They almost sent up the wrong blood they had it on the counter and decided to test it 1 last time thank god they did. As I type this we have a friend that is having her 1st chemo treatment on her way to a bone marrow transplant. She also has DBA and is transfusion dependent. She has iron overload so bad that she had no choice but to go the transplant route. There are also 2 other children starting that road this week. With DBA you don't go to transplant until you have no other options you have to be sick enough to need one but healthy enough to survive. So if you could keep them in your prayers I'd be grateful. Thaks again everyone for your well wishes
