May 31, 1996 – The Disney/Hollywood Picture Film “Eddie” was released.
May 31, 1997 – The 8th annual Discover Magazine Awards for Technological Innovation were presented at Epcot. A gala awards ceremony featuring celebrity presenters LeVar Burton, astronaut Story Musgrave, Dr. Michael Guillen and Miss America Tara Holland took place at the America Gardens Theater.
May 31, 1998 – “The Wildhorse Saloon,” a 27,000 square-foot entertainment venue, opened at Downtown Disney Pleasure Island at WDW. (Closed May 11, 2001) (It replaced the Fireworks Factory Restaurant)
May 31, 1998 – Disney held a party at the Florida Animation Studio for its newly completed feature “Mulan.” (It would have its world premiere 5 days later.)
May 31, 2000 – The Disney/Miramax Television animated series “Clerks,” and was a short two-episode run aired on ABC-TV. (Ended June 7th)
May 31, 2003 – The ABC Super Soap Weekend began at Disney’s California Adventure.
May 31, 2005 – The Disney Channel’s “Get A Clue” (starring Lindsay Lohen) was released on DVD and VHS.
May 31, 2005 – Composer-conductor Jaime Mendoza-Nava, who scored the music for the Mickey Mouse Club and the Zorro 1950’s TV series, passed away at age 79 in Woodland Hills, Ca. Over his 40-year career, he composed music for movies, documentaries, commercials, and the animated TV series Mr. Magoo.
May 31, 2008 – The “Concourse Steakhouse” closed in the Contemporary Resort at WDW. It would be replaced by “The Wave” restaurant.
May 31, 2008 – The “Toy Story Mania” attraction opened in Disney Hollywood Studios at WDW
