May 30, 1971 – Actress Idina Mensel was born in Queens, N.Y. She appeared as Nancy Tremaine in Disney’s 2007 feature “Enchanted.”
May 30, 1989 – Actress Tempestt Bledsoe (of The Cosby Show) appeared on the Disney Channel’s 27th episode of MMC. “Today is Guest Day!”
May 30, 1995 – The soundtrack to Disney’s animated “Pocahontas” was released on Walt Disney Records. The disc featured two versions of “Colors of the Wind,” one sung by “Pocahontas” and one performed by Vanessa Williams. The song would win an Oscar for Best Song.
May 30, 1997 – The Disney/Hollywood Pictures Film “Gone Fishin” was released.
May 30, 1998 – The Wildhorse Saloon opened at Disney’s Pleasure Island replacing the Fireworks Factory in WDW.
May 30, 2003 – The Disney/Pixar animated feature “Finding Nemo,” premiered and featured the voices Erica Beck, Albert Brooks, Willem Dafoe, Ellen DeGeneres, and John Ratzenberger.
May 30, 2003 – The Disney Channel aired the That’s So Raven episode “Driven to Insanity.”
May 30, 2005 – The Disney TV movie “Romy and Michele: In the Beginning” aired for the first time.
May 30, 2006 – Sarah Litzsinger returned to the role of Belle in Disney’s Broadway hit “Beauty and the Beast.” She has the distinction of being Broadway’s longest-running Belle.
May 30, 2007 – It was reported that Disney would release a Chinese-language movie, “The Magic Gourd,” its first co-production with-the-state-run China Film Group. The movie, based on a novel written by the late Chinese children’s writer Zhang Tianyi, is about a boy who discovers a gourd that grants him wishes.
