May 13, 1997 – Disneyland’s “Light Magic” had its first dressed rehearsal at a special premiere party for Annual Passholders. (Unfortunately “Light Magic” was a failure and only played until Labor Day 1997.)
May 13, 2000 – The Disney Channel Original Movie, “Miracle in Lane Two,” aired.
May 13, 2001 – The Wonderful World of Disney aired “Child Stars: The Shirley Temple Story.”
May 13, 2002 – WDW no longer allows guests to bring water coolers into the water parks for security reasons.
May 13, 2004 – The New York City Disney Store (located at 711 Fifth Ave. in Manhatten) closed for renovations. (It would reopen in Oct. 2004 as World of Disney.)
May 13, 2004 – Disney congratulated this years winners of the Jiminy Cricket Environmentality Challenge, a 5th grade class from West Gate Elementary School in West Palm Beach, Fl.
May 13, 2005 – The “Herbie and Friends Cruise America Tour,” to celebrate Volkswagon’s 50th anniversary and the release of Disney’s “Herbie: Fully Loaded,” kicked off with a ceremony at the Santa Monica Pier in California. The cross-country caravan tour (made up of all Air-cooled VW’s) would make stops in over a dozen states.
May 13, 2006 – Cirque du Soleil “La Nouba” had its 3500th performance at Downtown Disney in WDW.
May 13, 2006 – Disney’s Animal Kingdom celebrated International Migratory Bird Day, an annual event to celebrate and support migratory bird conservation.
May 13, 2008 – The inaugural trail-running and bike racing event, “Muddy Buddy” was held at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex at WDW.
