I'm a pet mom and a proud one at that. :puppy::chicken:

Anyhoo, my precious little featherbaby Sweetie died today. She was 9 years old. I'm so sad. My furbaby Speedy who's 11 is trying so hard to cheer me up. :puppy:

I feel silly for being so sad. :( Kenny tells me it's not silly though and I will need time to grieve. My dad felt so bad when I told him he wanted to go out and buy me a new bird right away.

Anyway, I just need some :grouphug: to get through this.

RIP Sweetie Crackerjacks Farringer 4/8/00-5/8/09

I'm so sorry for the loss of your Sweetie. :crying:

Please don't feel silly. The unconditional love that a pet brings to our life is sorely missed when they're gone. It's been a year since I had to put my kitty, Stanley, down and I still miss him a lot.

A great big  to you.

I am sorry for your loss. I don't feel it's silly. I would feel horrible if anything ever happened to our bird Peeper.

Feel better soon!

Sorry to hear of your loss....It's been 3 years and I still miss Zoe, my Old English Sheepdog. I have her puppy, but it's just not quite the same. :grouphug: Take care!

It doesn't matter what kind of a pet you lose - if you loved it, it hurts.

My mom lost her 21 year old cat a couple of months ago. She lives with us and is dying of kidney disease. I noticed the other day that she has a stuffed animal in the chair with her, and she pets it like she did Charlie. (We don't have a birdie icon).

My oldest son just lost his budgie of 6 yrs and he was devastated. The budgie died in his hands (he had been sick for a few months) and I told my son he died while being held by the person who loved him more than anyone else. It was a very emotional day. We held a memorial service outside that evening in the yard. So, obviously I don't think it's silly you feel this way. Indeed, pets grab us by the heart and don't let go.

We have a few budgies and they have always been one of the family. We currenly have one and treat her like another child. You are not being silly at all.:angel:
