May 2, 1993 – The Theater of Stars, a 1,500 seat amphitheater located just to the right of the Hollywood Brown Derby Restaurant in Disney’s MGM Park, closed. It would be removed to make way for the construction of the new Sunset Boulevard area.
May 2, 2002 – Singer Eddie Money completed his 3-day engagement as part of Epcot’s Flower Power Concert series.
May 2, 2003 – The Disney Channel aired the That’s So Raven episode “Teach Your Children Well.”
May 2, 2003 – Disney’s movie, “The Lizzie McGuire”, starring Hilary Duff, Adam Lanberg, Clayton Snyder, Ashlie Brillault, and Jake Thomas, was released in theaters.
May 2, 2004 – The “Walt Disney World Inline Marathon and Half Marathon was held.
May 2, 2004 – The attraction “It’s a Small World” in Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom closed for rehab until spring 2005.
May 2, 2005 – The “Goofy’s Candy Co.” has returned to DTD with its official re-opening.
May 2, 2006 – At 9:02a.m., Disneyland welcomed 12-year-old Emmalee Mason of Colorado Springs, Co. as the 2-billionth guest to visit the park. Emmalee was presented a giant golden key and a lifetime pass to all 11 Disney parks around the world.
May 2, 2007 – The annual Dreamers and Doers Awards were handed out at Epcot. The program honors well-rounded students who have shown academic success, leadership, character and community involvement. A total of 100 students were honored.
May 2, 2007 – The Disney Channel launched in Istanbul, Turkey under the digital platform name Digiturk.
