The Studios, then known as Disney's MGM Studios, opened on May 1, 1989.

I had to chuckle a little when the local news showed tape from the opening ceremony; thousands of helium balloons were released. They couldn't get away with that today. :nono:

Only 20 years old and already had a little identity crisis and name change! I remember this park on my first visit, man has it changed! It was hot as blazes with very little shade. I'm lovin' the excitement in this park now!:thumbsup:
