Apr. 4, 1956 – Joanna Miller, Walt Disney’s granddaughter, was born in Monterey County, Ca.
Apr. 4, 1960 – At the 32nd Annual Academy Awards at the RKO Pantages Theater in Los Angeles, Ca. Disney animator Ub Iwerks won the Oscar, Scientific or Technical Class III, for the design of an optical printer for special effects.
Apr. 4, 1990 – The “Rock ‘n’ Roll Beach Club” opened on Pleasure Island at WDW (Closed Feb. 3, 2008)
Apr. 4, 1996 - The “Fairy Tale Festival” attraction at Disneyland Paris closed.
Apr. 4, 1999 – Britney Spears and 98 Degrees performed at the 14th Annual “Walt Disney World Easter Parade” on ABC.
Apr. 4, 2001 – Christopher Walken closed a deal to play the lead human in the animatronic film “The Country Bears” for the Walt Disney Co.
Apr. 4, 2003 – The Lizzie McGuire episode “Grand Ole Grandma” debuted on the Disney Channel.
Apr. 4, 2006 – Western Way, the rear entrance to WDW from the new Western Beltway opened in Florida. The 4-lane, divided boulevard gives Disney a western entrance for the first time, allowing tourists coming in on I-75 to enter Central Florida on Florida’s Turnpike and the Western Beltway, without ever entering Orlando or driving I-4.
Apr. 4, 2006 – Walt Disney Records released “Disneymania 4,” the follow up to platinum-selling Disneymania CD’s, and “Disney’s Karaoke Series: Disneymania Volume 2.”
Apr. 4, 2006 – The Walt Disney Pictures/Walden Media 2-disc Collector’s Edition Set “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe” was released on DVD.
