There have been a lot of rumors about a new Star Tours, but at this point it is still the original. They must change droids a lot, every time I ride it it's his first trip!

I really like the cute old movie. I like this ride because it is a good "little bit scary" ride for kids to prepare them for the really scary big boy rides. I hope they don't change this ride too much! Certainly not if they "improve" it like they did Rio del Tiempo, Tiki birds, Stitch etc...

When was rio del tiempo changed??

That was at least 6 months ago because it was the version with Donald when we were there last Sept.

I was there in Sept '07 and it was there. Personally...I like the new one. But that's just me. ^_^

With regard to Star Tours - the actual attraction is the same as the day it opened. The exterior of the ride and some of the queue entrance & exit items have changed, but the attraction (film/story line) remains the same. Rex is still the crummy pilot . . . :D

In various fan circles, there has been a lot of talk about Star Tours 2.0 - but this rumour has been going around for well over a year now and nothing has come to fruition. :(

***OFF TOPIC*** AGAIN! But what is the difference between the old and new rio del tiempo?? I always disliked the old screens...but it has always been a must do ride...what's new with the update??

Hey, it's always somebody's first time...

And the Star Tours video never looks old. It plays back digitally from a hard drive, so it never gets scratched and "hairs" never get "caught in the gate" (like film), and it never gets a magnetic "tear" at the top of the screen (like bad videotape).

It's now the story of 3 birds visiting Mexico. :thedolls:

"Star Tours" is one of Disney World's most popular attractions. If a truly significant change in the basic story of the ride was true, it would be more publicized than this forum.
