On our last trip in January, husband wanted to buy a bansai tree but we weren't sure if we would be able to take it on the plane. We emailed the TSA about 3 weeks ago and they still haven't replied. Does anyone know if it's ok to bring them on a plane? I know that some plant life can not be transported. We would be putting it in our carry on tote.

When my husband and I bought a bonzai tree in the Japan pavillion at EPCOT several years ago they actually sent it to us a couple weeks later via mail. They make sure the plant is healthy and then send us instructions on caring for our bonsai tree. That was 6 1/2 years ago during our honeymoon and we still have the tree. You might call them and ask about transporting home and if you take it directly from where you buy it or if they mail it to you.

No problem taking it on the plane in your carry-on as long as it's small and doesn't contain liquid. Only time it's a problem is if you're traveling internationally.
