I like to start my Disney vacation in Magic Kingdom and ride Pirates of the Caribbean first. Even though my kids had me on Space Mountain one year before 8:30am and no coffee!! :mickey:

We sort of base our "first day park" on a variety of factors (EMH, etc..). But: Here are the 1st rides we head for at EACH park:

MK: Pirates of the Caribbean
EPCOT: Soarin'
AK: Expedition Everest
HS: Tower of Terror

Can't WAIT for our next trip. UGH - 18 months away is toooooo long!

MK is always our first park and last, and we let our ds pick. It's usually the train, but this year it maybe Dumbo they've never riden it, or Jungle Cruise--I know bad mommy:(

My first trip was in '71 on Xmas day, and the first ride we rode was IASW. It's always the very first I ride whenever I visit WDW. It's a VERY important tradition with me. :mickey:

I really miss my parents.....:(

My first park, even though it isn't necessarily my favorite, is MK. FIrst ride is usually POTC or Buzz (or TTA if Buzz is busy), depending upon which way I turn.

My last park is almost always Epcot. The main reason is that its most predictable for getting out of the parking lot, so I can time the car trip to MCO.

I think we might be different. We go to MK first and hit the Speedway. My son MUST ride it each time and the lines are so long, so we start here and the line is short and we get it out of the way.

We've never had a first park since that sort of depends on the scheduling. For Epcot, it's either Spaceship Earth or Test Track first. Disney Hollywood Studios would see us hitting Tower of Terror first. We've always done Kilimanjaro Safaris first at Animal Kingdom, but I think that will be replaced by Expedition Everest on our next trip. Magic Kingdom usually involves visiting one of the mountains first.

DHS - great movie ride. for no real reason other than when i was 13 and made my first trip with my parents that's what we did. so we kept doing it. and now DH and i do it!

For us, it's always MK... gotta see that castle!! And the first ride is usually PoC... DH's and my favorite, although I think it'd be a dead heat for Space now, as my girls love it best. :blush: (Of course, it'll be down when we're there in October... :( ... so I guess it'll still be PoC!!)

We do things a bit different from the majority of posts above. We always fly down to WDW, requiring us to get up early (4-5 am). We arrive at our resort aroun 10-11am and make our way immediately to Animal Kingdom - our least favorite. We choose this park becaue it doesn't require a full day to get the most out of it. DS and I head to the Safari and DD and DH head to Everest. If long lines, we fast pass it and meet up at Flametree BBQ for lunch. For dinner, we eat at Tusker House and then head back to the resort to settle in to our room and let the kids swim in the pool. The other three parks are "all dayers" for us, so this is the best plan for our family.

Hmmmm....was just talking to the family about this post....we realized we don't usually have a first park/ride. Depending on what day we arrive sort of dictates which park we start our fun. We all agreed that our first ride at Magic is POTC the rest of the parks we just kind of go with the flow.

we dont have a first park really but ill list my first ride for each parks:

Magic Kingdom- Straight to Haunted Mansion then ride Peter pan

Epcot- depending on who i am with either go straight to TT or Soarin and get fastpasses then ride Spaceship earth

DHS- Go straight and get fastpasses for Toy Story Mania then ride star wars

AK- go and get fastpasses for EE then ride KS

On our honeymoon in 2003 Epcot was the first park we visited, and the first ride we rode was TT. Our last trip in 2007 our first park was MK, and the first ride we rode was SM. On our next upcoming trip, most likely in 2011, we'll be bringing n00bs (my mom and my brother) to The World. So most likely the first park we'll go with them will be MK, because it's a classic.

We are doing something a bit different this year. We get into MCO so early that we will actually be at MK that very first day and the first thing will be Pirates...then it will be official.

Our first park on a trip varies, depending on the time of day we arrive and park hours, events, etc. for that day. But when we hit MK our first attraction is always Splash Mountain. It's our favorite. If we get there at park opening, we can usually ride it several times with little or no waiting before the queue builds up.

We tend to kit MK on Tuesday or Wednesday. It is a little less crowed than Monday’s and weekends. The typical park order and first rides are:
-AK – Kilimanjaro Safaris
-Epcot – World Showcase
-MK – Space Mountain
-DHS - RnR

But the first ride changes. Sometimes we walk through the castle first, then start in fantasy land. Other times, we go to space mtn first. Depends on who we are with, and what the crowds are like.

We also make MK our last park of the trip too.

this is what me and dw do for each park:
MK.
first thing we head for is pirates of the carribean, then to haunted mansion
Epcot:
we head over to Soarin to get our fp's then since we're in that section we head over and do the entire nemo section
DHS:
since toy story mania we now run there first to fp it then we usually head to the great movie ride
AK:
it's tough to be a bug since it's right there then we head over to kiliamanjaro safari to fp it, then it's whatever direction that we walk too

all in all we do have a system to get the day started, but then it's play it by ear

on a side note we booked our sept trip and will be doing our first mickeys not so scary party, that we are really excited about it

As a family, first stop is MK, first ride is Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin.

DH and I are going alone next month to celebrate our anniv. so I want to do things we haven't done with the kids. Partly so I won't be saying "Remember when we did this with the kids on our first day?", so I think we will probably hit Epcot first and maybe try for TT!

Doesn't matter what time we arrive, DH and I have to go to the MK so we know we've arrived and then we head to POTC. If there's a really long line then we'll head to HM or Peter Pan, but almost always POTC is our first ride. We're also with the group that has to end our trip at the MK as well.

Only 52 more days until we're back at WDW :mickey: :cloud9:

Our plan of action has us checking in our resort around 7:30 to 8AM and heading off to MK. Once in, we head over the Adventureland bridge and thru the Froniterland pass to FP either Splash or Thunder (whichever has the longer wait) and ride the other. Then we kinda backtrack just bit to POTC, hit our FP ride and move on over to Liberty Square for HM and maybe a steamboat ride. On to Fantasyland to FP Peter Pan, Small World, and Philharmagic, and back to Pan. By this time, it's about midday, time to return to our resort to get settled and relax a bit...lunch...a little pool action...maybe a nap! Then later on in the PM, we might return to MK for Tomorrowland, supper, and Wishes, or we might head over to Epcot to dine somewhere in a foreign country and Illuminations! What a perfect day!:cloud9:

I like to start with The Magic Kingdom and my favorite ride therein: The Haunted Mansion...partly because of the nostalgia (my first trip to DisneyWorld was at a time when the Magic Kingdom was all there was...we saw the scale models for EPCOT), and because the newer parks and rides tend to eclipse the Magic Kingdom for me, so I like to experience the MK first so it doesn't suffer by comparison.

We always go to MK first. Our past tradition (when it was just my sons and I) was to ride Space Mt first. As of our June 08 trip (first with my DW and her sons), our new tradition is to ride the train all the way around (about one and two-thirds times) and get off the second time around at Toontown (then its off to Space Mt). I love starting this way, as you get to preview the MK from the train, the train was one of Walt's favorites, and there's a sense of journey and arrival when the ride the train and then get off at your destination.

I have a system as to what we start on each day....

Our very first day we arrive mid-day. We go to Epcot first and ride Spaceship Earth first. Then we just do whatever we want. Most of the time we'll go to World Showcase our first day as well.

When we go to MK, we start with Space Mountain. Sometime's we'll start with Dumbo because that line is a pain to get through and I LOVE going on it.

At AK, we haul tail for EE.

At DHS, we go to Rockin' Roller Coaster or ToT. Depends on what we feel like doing first on the spot. But, now with TSM, we will be doing that first.

As soon as we get to WDW, getting to MK to ride the TTA is a top priority! When you take the time to really absorb the fact that you're on vacation as soon as you get there, it can set the mood for the trip.
