How far are you willing to drive to get to Disney? Our last trip was 1071 miles and took just over 17 hours, straight through, from N.E. Ohio. Left at 8 pm Friday evening, breakfast in Ga. and lunch on the Boardwalk! Funny how the trip home seems a bit longer! :D

1380. We only drove once. We took 3 days down and 2 days back. We are not much for long drives. Plus, Southwest will fly us the 1380 miles for $79 and we are there in two and a half hours. The gas would cost us more to drive.

It is a little over 1600 miles. We have driven it twice and will do it again in 2010. We leave around 5pm on a friday, get a room Saturday night ,arrive at Disney around 11:30am on Sunday.
It is always my husband and I driving and our 2 kids. The first time we drove the youngest was 15 months.

I had to look up Girard. After living in NE Ohio for 32 years it's amazing how many cities I haven't heard of.

I'm down south of Akron and our last drive down was just about exactly 1000 miles.

1192.5 miles-too far! We drove once right after 9/11 when we lived in IN and it took 18 hours. After one trip through the "mountains" (foothills around Chattanooga) with me:scared::eek:, DH decided it was worth the money to fly and get there in 2 hours!:joy:

2, 098 km (I think that is about 1000 miles) from our driveway to French Quarter.

More importantly, 21 hours (if we take I-79/I-95) or an 8-hour drive, then 16-hours on the autotrain :train: which is our preferred method of getting there

I am not sure how far we are. Maybe 500-600 miles. It's about an 11 hour drive. My husband is actually from Orland so we have driven or flown depending on the circumstances.

My threshold for driving with the kids is about 6 hours. Anymore than that and I start to get REALLY grumpy.

Our plane leaves in just over two days and we will be at MCO in under 2 hours. Maybe when they are older we will drive...

We fly, it is a 2 hour and 40 minute flight from Hartford, if we drove it would be 1300 miles, I cannot sit in a car that long. I like knowing if I am leaving at 7 in the morning, I can be in the MK by lunch time.:mickey:

I'm about 1350 miles away. We fly and get there in a few hours. We did make the drive once when I was a kid. We made frequent stops, two overnight stays, and it took two and a half days that way.

It's something I occasionally think about doing again, but my spoiled kids think it sounds like torture. I give them my "back in my day..." stories and they laugh and think they have it so much better, but those road trips were good times.

Depending on which resort, just a little over 1000 miles and 15.5 - 17 hrs - the shorter time is if we drive overnight rather than all day.

In 2005 and 2006 we were only a little over 2 hours away. Unfortunately we no longer have that luxury.

We are now about an 8 hour drive (465 miles roughly) from our door to the World (including a pit stop or two on the way).

It's just over 1000 miles from our house in North Houston, TX, according to Google maps. We've never driven it (yet), but my family keeps trying to talk me into it. Luckily, airfares always seem to come down just enough every time we get ready to go.

We used to live in Atlanta, and that's about what it took us.

Note: According to Google Maps, it's 7hrs, 21 minutes. I think we did it once in under 7hrs, driving at night, and maybe a little bit over the speed limit. ;)

Wow how do you manage that? I'm 20 miles closer and it takes us 8. LOL!

It all depends on type of highways, road construction, traffic, weather, and the number and length stops you make. We make several of the same trips every year, from 5 to 12 hours and the driving time on each of them always varies. On our 5 hour driving trip to WDW, if we can stop just once for gas and restroom, and keep that stop under 10 minutes, we can usually make it in just under 5 hours. This requires keeping the cruise control on 75 mph and no traffic jams so you can keep up your average speed up past 65. Our drive is Interstate/controlled access 4 lane all the way. Except for traffic, we only have to slow down for the toll booths when we get to the turnpike and 429 (Western Way)

Driving at night (all night) can also greatly reduce travel time, traffic is usually much reduced and gas stations, restrooms etc. are never crowded. We used to do that when the kids were little and would sleep all the way. Leave home at 2:00 am, arrive at WDW at 7:00 a.m.

About 650 miles. If we leave at 5am stop at the Floridia rest stop and stop again to sit and eat at a restaurant we will be there for about 5pm give or take including the time change. So it's about 9 or 10 hours. Not bad we wouldn't do it any other way.

I must admit I wish I had the hour or two drive that some other posters have.

We are about 650 miles from WDW. We can make it by car in as little as 9 1/2 hours or as much as 11 hours depending on how many times and for how long we stop along the way as well as traffic. The drive there isn't too bad, but the drive home is a lot harder due to the destination change. I'm sure you all know that feeling.

According to MapQuest, I'm 2840 miles away from WDW. You couldn't pay me enough money to drive there!

It is about 500 miles for us, and takes a little more than 7 hours for us to drive from Mobile to the magic place:mickey:. We leave from home the day before check in and stay at my parents house in Ft Walton Beach, FL. The next morning, we hit the road around 7ish and arrive around 2:30. This includes the time change, and a stop for lunch at Live Oak. We take I-10 to I-75 to the turnpike to Western Way. On the way back, we drive all the way home. I wish I could make that drive right now, but it will be a while for us:(

1017 miles for us. We have driven more times that we have flown. We'll be driving this year. We used to take 2 days to get there, and 2 days to get back, mostly because the kids were young. This year DS will be 3, and DD will be 6, so we are going to try to make it one day each way.

1182 miles. It has taken us anywhere between 18 hours, (not one bit of traffic, and a stretch of almost 90 mph speeds for about an hour in South Carolina. [Don't try this at home!]) and 26 hours, thanks to a February snowstorm (five hours to get through NJ!!)
