Mar. 20, 1985 – The Alpine Haus Restaurant opened in Tokyo Disneyland.
Mar. 20, 1986 – Tokyo Disneyland welcomed its 30-millionth guest.
Mar. 20, 1987 – The film, “Captain EO”, starring Michael Jackson opened in Tokyo Disneyland’s Tomorrowland. (Closed Sept. 1, 1996)
Mar. 20, 1991 – A jury in Los Angeles awarded singer Peggy Lee more than $3.8 million dollars in video cassette profits for her singing and songwriting in Disney’s animated classic “Lady and the Tramp”. A judge later reduced the award to $2.3 million. Peggy Lee was originally paid $3,500.00 for co-writing 6 songs and providing the voice for 4 characters.
Mar. 20, 1992 – The Disney/Touchstone film “Noises Off” was released.
Mar. 20, 2001 – National Agriculture Day was celebrated at Bountiful Valley Farm, part of the new Disney California Adventure Park.
Mar. 20, 2001 – Disney’s 1971 feature film “Bedknobs and Broomsticks: 30th Anniversary Edition” was released on video.
Mar. 20, 2004 – The 18th Annual Genesis Awards, presented by the Hollywood Office of the Humane Society of the United States, awarded Finding Nemo its Outstanding Film Prize. The award was presented at a gala ceremony in the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Ca. (The Show would be taped and edited for a 2-hour television special airing on Animal Planet on Apr. 25, 2004.)
Mar. 20, 2007 – Walt Disney Records released the “Hannah Montana Special Edition Soundtrack.” The CD + DVD set included an all-new bonus track and a live concert performance as well as exclusive backstage footage, a free ring tone and collectible snapshots.
Mar. 20, 2007 – Playbill reported that casting is now complete for Disney’s newest musical “The Little Mermaid” which will begin performances at The Denver Center for the Performing Arts’ Ellie Caulkins Opera House this summer. The cast features Sierra Boggess in the title role, Seam Palmer as Prince Eric, Norm Lewis as King Triton, Tituss Burgess as Sebastian, Eddie Korbich as Scuttle, Jonathon Freeman as Grimsby, Derrick Baskin as Jetsam, Tyler Maynard as Flotsam, Cody Hanford and J.J. Singleton as Flounder and Sherie Rene Scott as Ursula. It is scheduled to open on Broadway Dec. 2007.
