Hi everyone! I hope some of you may be able to help me.

We just got back from WDW and one of DS's favorite "rides" was Living With The Land in Epcot. He really loved it because of the "garden" at the end. We took as many pics as we could so he could show his friends at school when we got back. They are studying "The Farm" this month and DS said he wanted to make a book about the disney garden to show his class what he learned about.

I was wondering if anyone had some pics I could use in the book and if anyone has some simple information that I could print as well that would explain to a group of 5 year olds what they are seeing in the pictures. Information about how disney grows plants the way they do and why.

Is there a website that tells about these things? A book?

Thanks for your help!

Try wikipedia. They have a good deal of info on the ride.

If you google Disney Hydroponics, you'll find some links to some videos, and probably some information.

We took the Behind the Seeds tour on our December trip. This is a picture of some of the plants that are being grown hydroponically (http://community.webshots.com/photo/fullsize/2562128400027495723isuJWu). They spray nutrients directly on the roots, and use no soil. Here (http://community.webshots.com/photo/fullsize/2832149220027495723fHpwpc) they are growing the plants vertically because they can get more production out of a limited amount of space (it's another hydroponic method).

And, here is a record breaking tomato "tree" (http://community.webshots.com/photo/fullsize/2985179430027495723ulqKHJ). I think you can find some information on that if you google Disney tomato tree. You can also see the boat going through in that picture.

This one shows spot irrigation (http://community.webshots.com/photo/fullsize/2970701220027495723NWBjhk) that saves water and allows plants to grow where you would think nothing could.

Hope these help a little!

Rhonda-
Thanks so much for the info, but it wouldn't let me see the pics.

I have put disney hydroponics in to google and it gives some info, but I was wondering if there were ant littlt tidbits or simple facts I could give the kids. Like the 9 pound lemon makes 8 gallons of lemonade.

Thanks for the help everyone!

Sorry. I'll have to fix them this evening.

OK, I fixed the links so you should be able to get to the pictures now.

As far as little facts and tidbits, I really don't remember too many. I know that the tomato tree holds the World Record for the most tomatoes grown from a single vine, and that it was more than 32,000 tomatoes. They do use those tomatoes and the other produce and spices as well as the fish that they farm in the restaurants on property.
