Has anyone had an experience with the First Aid Centers in the park? I want to put a small blurb in there about the First Aid Centers, but fortunately we never had to use them. Is there a place to rest or relax, buy medicine, can they keep medicines that need to stay cold for you, what about oxygen. Thanks so much for all of your help.

We've never had a serious issue, but we have had one experience with the first aid centres.

We went to the one in DHS, when I pulled something in my back and was in major pain, I could barely walk. It was empty, and there were two people (I'm not sure if they were nurses) waiting. They got me all sorted out with ice packs, a wheelchair for the rest of the day and they had free generic Asprin, Advil and Tylenol tablets, and they gave me a handful. There seemed to be rooms available, but even the "waiting" room was comfy and cool. The staff was super-friendly, I felt really confident with them and am sure they had lots more care to offer me if I needed it.

I'm sure there are people who know tons more, but that was my experience!

I have been to the First Aid Center at each of the parks. They are all very clean and the staff are all very nice. We have to go there a few times a day to change my DD's (9) diapers. She is too long for the baby changing areas and besides, she needs a little more privacy.
You are reqired to sign in for each visit and a nurse greets you. There are places with curtains that a guest can lay down if needed. There are also a few rooms with door.
I have seen people with meds that must be kept cool. They keep them for the guest.

We are going down again the first week of May. If you would like me to gather more information for you, I would be happy too. Just let me know what you would like to know.

We've gotten aspirin, bandaids, and antacid at the First Aid Centers, no charge.

In February of last year, my DS fell at AK and got a small gash on his leg. It was bleeding quite a bit so off we went to the First Aid Center. There was another family being attended so we had a short wait, but I can't say enough about how wonderfully both we and the other family were treated.

We had to stop in for some band-aids in 2 of the parks as my hubby was wearing a knee brace, and it rubbed a blister on the back of his leg that popped. When we went to the first one, they also gave us some antibiotic ointment on a paper towel to wipe on it first.

I have heard that they will refrigerate medications for you, but I have no first hand experience with it.

We had one scarey trip to the First Aid Center in Epcot when my granddaughter got a cinder in her eye from the fireworks. Needless to say with anything you get in your eye you are most often not able to see right away and she was scared that she was blind and was also in quite a bit of pain. Everything from the wonderful CM Jonathan who escorted us over through the exiting crowds, while calling ahead to let them know that we were on our way to the nice calm nurses who flushed out her eye and gave her childrens Tylenol were absolute professionals. After about a half hour she was able to see again and we had seen the Disney magic from a very different view point. Disney truely is the best!!!
On a minor note whenever I have asked CMs where I can buy bandaids, aspirin, cough drops, etc. while in the parks I have always been directed to the First Aid Centers. Never any charge and they have given me enough to last the day.

My DS then 5 was being a typical boy jumping around and lost his balance. Needless to say he scraped his knee up pretty bad. We went to the first aid center and they fixed him right up. They were the greatest!!:mickey:

DS5 (3 at the time) fell and whacked his head off one of the planter ledges over in Liberty Square just as Hallow Wishes started in 2007. Kisses and hugs soothed him, but then he promptly fell asleep in the cart. I was worried about concussion, and so was my First Aid trained husband, so we took him to the first aid station. They took my concern very seriously and gave him a full check over, and an icepack, and gave us some things to watch out for over the next several hours. Turned out he was just fine, and they really made us feel calmer, and allowed us to enjoy our evening at MNSSHP!

My dad had problems with his scooter last year & he went to the one at the MK where they had tools to help him the best he could. (ended up being a faulty battery) however they did everything they could do to help him including offering my parents a regular wheelchair to finish up the night at no charge. At that point they declined because my dad thought he had it fixed.

We were at Disneyland when my EX-boyfriend's daughter bumped her nose on the seat when a ride came to a sudden stop (I can't remember the name of the ride but it's the original disneyland rollercoaster where it kinda slides down a track). ANYWAY...she made a real fuss about it and HE swore it was broken...blah blah blah...(I KNEW it wasn't ). I was annoyed at all the "fuss" and had him go to the first aid to calm BOTH of them down. The nurses were GREAT. They assured him that it wasn't broken it was just a bump and she was fine. They gave her ice and a tylonol and shoo'd them off.

They did seem to have quite a nice little clinic in there.

We haven't had any experience with the first aid centers (hopefully never will!) but this may help you at some point in your book. When we were there last February we were hurrying to get to our ressies at Garden Grill and got lost. This led to more hurrying and somehow we ended up at the Swan's pool (I have a lousy sense of direction!). Anyway, my sister tripped over her own feet and fell on the concrete getting a nastry scrap on one knee that bled and bled. We walked over to some chairs near the outside bar and I was going to just ask for some wet napkins to clean her up with since we had some bandaides in our bag. By the time I got back to her (maybe a minute later) a pool attendant had noticed and rushed over to help her. He went to get some things to patch her up and came back with a manager and two more employees. Beka was fixed up, given some portable ice packs to take with us in case her knee started to swell, some extra bandages, and some medicine. Meanwhile, another employee called the Garden Grill and changed our resservations so we could still go and they called a taxi to get us there! Beka felt so special and all that attention (plus a little extra attention from the characters) made her knee feel a lot better. They really went above and beyond our expectations (and the fact that it was Valentine's Day and the one helping her was a cute guy about her age was a nice bonus!).

We had two experiences with the First Aid center on our last trip. Both times it was in the MK. First my oldest DD (18) twisted her knee when her foot went sideways walking down main street (she stepped into the troller tracks and her foot went into one of the groves. ) she normally has a few issues with her knee, but she wnet over to the first aid center and they gave her an ace bandage to wrap it up with.

the very next day in MK we were in frontierland - My son has severe asthma and allergies and a few other medical problems one of which is superficial blood vessels in his nose ( basically he gets nosebleeds very easily) with the heat and humidity of sept, I could not get it stop - We did the 5 minute no peek 3 times ( squeeze the nose for 5 minutes without taking the pressure off per the doctors orders) and while it wasn't "gushing" it was still bleeding bad enough that I was worried. a wonderful cast member (in a suit mind you) came over and asked what was going on. He was super helpful, got us a cold wet rag to help wipe his face off and to catch the blood and personally escorted us over to the first aid station. Since my DH was carrying our son, the wonderful CS even helped me carry our stuff ( back pack, camera bag ect.) They gave my son an ice pack and some gauze to pack it with and we got him all situated. He was good as new after that. While we were there a couple came in with their younger daughter ( about 1 1/2 or 2 maybe?) she was extremely overheated or had a fever and they were quick to come out and help her as well they took her back to the back to take her temperature, and cool her down. They really are the best and I believe it is manned by nurses or at least medical assistants and yes they will keep medicine for you that has to be cold and even our son's nebulizer for his breathing treatments.

They are truly an asset to each of the parks.

A few years ago we got to use the first aid station. They were absolutly wonderful.

The story starts out with my DD 5, walking along the edge of a pool, slips- and falls, bouncing off her privates. A quick race over- bring her back to the room, Mom checks her out and other than a small bruise on her leg she seems fine...
So off to the parks we go- epcot. A little walking, she is not feeling perfect, but wants to troop on. Well, after talking with crush, we stop for a potty break- and mom see's that there is some blood.
We notify a cast member. Who notify's a manager. -(just reliving the story brings tears to my eyes)- We tell them what happened, when, etc. They call the Fire dept. After consult, we are going to bring her to the offsite first care (forget if that is the correct name). But first they bring us to 1st aid. Where we wait. The nurses were wonderful, and they fully agreed that she should see a doctor. While we were waiting for the transportation out, a few people came in. Most with blisters. Everyone who they helped went away happy. True professionals. Very nice.
Now the long and short- DD was not seriously hurt, but her walking needed to be kept to a minimum (strollers for the rest of the parks). The doctors at first care were top notch. Disney provided the transport to 1st care and back to the resort.
Everyone who we delt with handeled the 'emergency' with the utmost care and detail- The manager gave us 1 day passes (because we were missing the day) and DD got 1 or 2 stuffed animals while she waited. The cast members are trained very well.
It is one of the things that my DW & i say about disney- how well their staff is trained to handle emergencies.
Hope this helps.

Hey I hope the book is going well just thought I would throw my two cents into the topic. I have been to the First Aid Centers at HWS and MK. First the staff is great very Disney even in an Emergency Situation. The HWS I walked in on my own after a my knee was throbing and I couldn't make it very far and I forgot my pain killers, they where very kind gave me naproxen (for free) and had a "driver" who played his part well "drive"(wheelchair escort) me back to the bus loading area.
When I was at the Magic Kingdom on a different trip I was run over by a stroller and had the skin ripped off my ankle, I was bleeding pretty bad and the security guard wouldn't let me get up for fear I was hurt worse ( I have High Blood Pressure so I am a bit of a gusher and things look worse than they are) I was more embarressed than anything but I found out they do employee EMTS and RNS for the more serious accidents. A very nice EMT offered me a ride in his ambulance . I declined had him wrap my ankle up, signed waivers saying it wasn't Disney's fault and that I denied a trip to the Hospital. By this time the park was closing and they had security give me a ride back to POP.
I can safely say they take very good care of you and are sincere in their concern even when they had me sign the waivers they kept saying "are you sure you don't want to go to the hospital"
Needless to say even with my various medical conditions (I am physicians nightmare!) I feel secure at WDW.

in 1995, i broke my shoulder on a ride at blizzard beach and they took me to the first aid in a wheelchair, then to the hospital and even paid for a taxi to bring us back to our resort and let us stop for medicine at a pharmarcy, they went over and above for me. when my granddaughter was 5 we were at dixie landings and she was doing flips in the water from the side of the pool, and cracked her precious little forehead on the side of the pool. disney people were so kind, they right away got an ambulance and took her, my son and daughter-in-law to the hospital at celebration and she got 20 stitches in her forehead. they gave her a little stuffed dalmation for the trip to the hospital and kept coming back and letting the rest of us know what was going on. disney was great and all the first aid people. good luck on your book.

Well, we got to visit the First Aid Centre again this trip :(

I was walking/jogging thorugh Epcot (in the rain) and I missed a step and fell. I was generally fine, but my wrist was bugging me a bit. I figured that it would go away and we headed back to the hotel.

I woke up the next morning to a throbbing wrist, so as we entered MK for our CP ADR, I made a stop at First Aid. I was so impressed that they were open and all ready to go at 8:01am (when the park doesn't officially open to 9am). They wrapped up my wrist, told me how to take care of it (nothing broken, just a sprain) and offered pain killers. They gave me and DD some "pixie dust" before we left and had us make a wish with it.

Even visiting First Aid is sprinkled with Disney magic. :pixie:

My DH is a type one diabetic do we have had extensive experience with the first aid center storing insulin which needs to be kept cold. We have never had a problem as it is easy access to the meds when you need them. The only problem we have had is you need to pick up your meds at least half an hour before the park closses and usually more time than that. We showed up about and hour before the fireworks one night and they had already shut up for the night. This is not usual, but did happen to us. Lucky for us we had more in our room and picked up the other supply in the morning which required and extra trip into the park and altered plans.

I just have a quick word of praise for the first aide folks. We had an "incidents" where they were just magical.
The first was at the AK when my daughter was about 8 yrs. old. She was petting a huge Simba stuffed animal outside the Mercantile store when she was stung by some kind of hornet/bee which had been in Simba's mane. Of course she started to cry and, no exaggeration here, as if by magic a cast member "appeared" from around a bush (she may have appeared from the bush for all I know) and looked at my daughters hand then whisked us all away to the first aide center. My daughter had a bad allergic reaction to the sting and one finger swelled way up. The nurse at the aide station gave her some benadryl and some kind of cream and told us what to watch for. She instructed us to return to the aide station in whichever park we were at over the next couple of days. We did this daily as DD's had a finger that remained very very swollen. The folks at the first aide stations were awesome.
