Okay ... I've never gone the week between X-Mas and New Year's before, but we're thinking of doing it this year ... how come there are no parties for that week? Is that normal?

I believe it is normal to not have any parties after Christmas. The rationale would probably be that the crowds are at a level that would create issues closing the MK at 7ish for the party. But that is just a guess.

I think this past year the parties ended on the 19th of Dec. because we had planned a Christmas vacation beginning on the 20th and had planned to go to one of the parties and then they announced that they ended on the 19th. We were really bummed about that. Not sure about their reasoning but someone told us that they just move the activities to all day the rest of that month instead of just doing a special party and parade. Maybe someone that went last Christmas can answer better.

We ended up having to cancel our trip anyway. :(

This is upsetting. I didn't know they did this. Do they still do the holiday wishes and special parade even if it's not a MVMCP?

SWEET!!!! I'll be going to the one on the 11th. And my 2 nieces will be going with me and it is both of their first times to wdw. They are 12yrs old and 8yrs old. The 12yr knows she is going and is Super Excited. But I just decided today that the 8yr old is going to be able to go. So when I tell her she is going to be unbelievable excited because she was upset her sister was getting to go and she wasn't.
I was thinking she might be too little to be away from her mom for 2 weeks but I figured she wants to go so bad, And thinks she is a princess already. That she will probably be alright when she sees how great it is at WDW.
I'm Soooooo EXCITED.. :minnie:

I'm soo excited! Thank you so much for posting this! It will our first MVMCP, and we're thinking about going on December 4 (Friday), the day we arrive.

Are weekends (Friday-Sunday) typically busier than weekdays?

Yes,the weekends are usually busier than weekdays, But it really varies. Since you are going in the beginning of the month while it is slow, You shouldn't have a problem. Even when sold out, I have heard it doesn't feel busy at all because the park it so big and they limit the amount of tickets per day to make the crowds lighter. I went last year, And I know you'll have a magical time! :tink:

That was what I was told, that they still do these during the day.

With all the reports of overselling these tickets and crowds I am hesitant to buy the party tickets for my trip. What a craps shoot this is. Is the day you pick going to be ridiculous if Disney doesn't change policy, or will it be tolerable.

We have done MNSSHP several times on Halloween night and even though it is sold out we never find it so crowded we don't enjoy ourselves. We still never miss it.
I am so glad the the Christmas party falls during our trip this year. We were really bummed out about missing the Halloween party so at least we can do the Christmas party. :)

I am so excited the dates are out for the party. I love Christmas and of course anything Disney so combining the 2 will be wonderful!! :cheer: I just have to decide which night to attend. Does anyone know if certain nights have more crowds or is it just a luck of the draw type situation?

The weekends typically have more people. But like you are guessing it is the luck of the draw. But with that said. Even when the party is sold out, the crowds aren't unbearable because the only sell a certain amount of tickets. (i believe a cm told me around 20,000ish) And Mk holds WAAAY more than that. I have heard it can hold 100,000 people. So even if it is sold out it doesn't feel crowded.

We're planning our trip for over the actual xmas holiday...do I understand right that there is no MVMCP over the actual holiday ?

Are there any holiday events on the actual holiday ?

Thanks

Yes, in past years, the Christmas parade and the holiday shows have been included in regular daily admission -- usually starting the day after the last MVCMP thru 12/30 or 31.

Any word on DVC or AP discount tickets? They usually pick a couple of the days. My mom wants to go for her b-day (12/4) and the family is plotting the next trip. Don't think DB-i-L will be able to make it (he works retail and of course this is black out time). Maybe just DH & I and Mom & Dad. We will see. I really want to make another December trip - it was a lot of fun and the chill in the air was pleasant!

Just an FYI - Disney has not publicly posted these dates yet. As soon as they do we will post the information on the front page.

Whats the better day to go Sunday the 13th or Tuesday the 15th of December? We have been to both P&PP and MNSSHP and both of these we did on days of the week not on the weekend does the same go for MVMCP?

After Christmas, the parade becomes the daily afternoon parade I believe.
