Good Evening Folks,

Had a quick question for you...

My mom is kind of an ice cream addict and I was wondering where the best place would be to take her for her favorite treat when we go back to WDW in July?

As always, any help you can give will be appreciated. :mickey:

Of course Ghiaradelli in Downtown Disney or at the Beach Club Resort go to Beaches and Cream and get her the Kitchen Sink sundae. Look here http://www.intercot.com/infocentral/dining/foodphotos/deluxeresorts/bcpage1.asp#photo6 and scroll down a bit for a pic of the kitchen sink sundae. Here is a menu of the Ghiardelli place http://www.intercot.com/infocentral/dining/menus/downtown/ghiradelli.asp and here's a menu for Beaches and Cream http://www.intercot.com/infocentral/dining/menus/resorts/beachesandcream.asp

Personally, Ghiaradelli's is the best. But I also enjoy The Plaza Restaurant and Aloha Isle, both in the MK. :tasty:

:number1: Another vote for Ghirardelli's, it is just the best. We also do love Beaches and Cream - the malts are wonderful.

Give me a good ole Mickey ice cream bar and I am happy. The rich chocolate covering the creamy vanilla ice cream... I wish I was at a Disney Park right now..I have a sweet tooth.:bar:

In addition to the places mentioned, both MK and Epcot have an ice cream location that serves Edy's hard ice cream. POFQ also has an ice cream spot in their food court.

I cannot answer this until Lent is over, I gave up ice cream for Lent this year and it's terrible already:( How I'm going to make 40 days I have no idea, this is what happens to me for having a grandpa who worked for an ice cream company when I was a kid:no:

Love Beaches and Cream! Javamama, I hear you, only I gave up chocolate. Don't know what I'll do during the week before Easter when we're at WDW.

Beaches and Cream is great, but nothing is better than stopping at the Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street at MK on a hot day and picking up a sundae to share with the kid. Always a tradition of ours.

My vote would be for Aloha Isle for the pineapple Dole Whips :D You can't get them anywhere else, and they're so tasty! :mickey:

I love the Dole Whip Floats but on a hot day I like to stop at ANY ice cream stand (usually in MK for some reason). Mickey Bars are yummy!

Beaches and Cream is the best....

dole whips are somewhat unique....

all other disney ice cream locations are the same Edy's issue...

Ghiradellis....while good....never justifies the wait

Don't forget gelato...especially the pistachio gelato from the cart at the Italian pavilion...

Ghiradellis....while good....never justifies the wait

That pretty much sums up my experience. We were there in Oct and the line in Ghiradellis was small (about 4 people) ... it STILL took nearly 20 mnutes to get a chocolate malt.

Oh yes, Ghiradelli is the best. Some of the ice cream in the parlor on Main Street in MK is good too. Also you can't beat the Mickey ears. We've never had a long wait at Ghiradelli's

No doubt for me its at the "G" at DTD, not only the taste but value for my money! Plus you can scoot around to the candy store and add a free chocolate to it ;)

If your mom is really an ice cream addict like I am, she needs to do what I did, go to both Ghiardelli's and Beaches and Cream to decide herself which is better. But just warn her-I'm having so much trouble deciding which is better, even after multiple trips to both. Only in the name of research, of course.:silly:

I agree with the Mickey Bars! Delicious! I also had some type of brownie Sunday from Mrs. Potts Cupboard in Fantasyland. Not sure why I liked it so much but it was delicious! Big enough to split.

I like Ghirardelli at DTD, Beaches and Cream at the Y&BC, Aloha Isle at the MK, and Mickey Premium Bars from any snack cart! :mickey:

WOW...looks like I got on a topic you fine folks can really sink your teeth into. Thank you for all the great ideas. When I get back from the trip in July, I'll have to let you all know how it went.

Believe it or not, we stayed at All Star Sports and their ice cream was very good. I was surprised. On the other hand, you cannot beat Ghiradelli's, it's so good.

We like the hot fudge sundae from Mrs Pott's Cupboard better than Ghiradellis. I didn't like the ice cream at DTD.

If you love chocolate ice cream, get a waffle cone at the counter outside of France by the water front. Very good and different from great places already mentioned.

I am going to have to vote for Main Stree Ice Cream Parlor. I love the location...so much fun to get your treat and enjoy an outside table...second the ice cream is great. It is your regular good quality ice cream none of the fluffy stuff. If you like fluffy then Ghiridelli(spelling) is very good too!

Our family is one of the few that is not that impressed with Ghirardelli's. We really have enjoyed Beaches and Cream, we love the Mickey bars from the ice cream stands, We like The Fountain at the Dolphin and we always get something at the Plaza Ice Cream parlor.

Definitely Beaches & Cream, a Dole Whip float @ Aloha Isle. And off property, the shakes at the Steak & Shake up the road from Crossroads.

Sounds delicious! I didn't even know you could get warm melted peanut butter at Ghiardelli's, and I love it on vanilla ice cream. Is this part of a particular sundae (if so, which one?) or do you just order the ice cream with the sauce?

Another vote here for Ghiardelli's! We never miss it! In the parks, we always go to the Main Street Ice Cream Parlor for sundaes! Yum!

We love Ghirardelli's also. My family always goes to DTD on the last morning of our WDW trips, before we hit the highway headed home. And we always get a big Ghirardelli's sundae for lunch!
A great way to start off an otherwise depressing trip back home to the real world.

Beaches and Cream is good, but I'm partial to soft-serve. We've never been to Mrs. Potts Cupboard but I do really like what we've had from Auntie Gravity's. I tend to think that the two locations are probably pretty similar.
