Hi,
I have a question about a food allergy that I'm hoping someone can help me with. I have a very severe allergy to jalapenos (actually, the allergy is to salicylic acid, but jalapenos contain a LOT of salicylic acid).

Anyway, my husband and I are joining my parents in Disney World in about a month. We have a reservation for dinner at the San Angel Inn. This is my dad's all time favorite restaurant! I don't want him to miss out on it just because of my allergy, so usually when we go there, I just don't eat anything.

I've been reading about how great Disney is about food allergies and have been considering speaking with them about my jalapeno allergy. Is it too late to do this since we've already made our reservations? Are they just going to laugh and tell me, "You're crazy! Why do you want to eat at a Mexican restaurant if you're allergic to jalapenos?" and then tell me to find another restaurant? I would rather not eat anything and just have a beer or something than have my dad miss out on a meal he looks foward to all year long. So what do you guys think? Thanks for your help!

Our son has food allegies and WDW is the best! We called a few weeks ahead of time to all the places we were planning on eating. Every place we ate sent a chef out to talk to us and made him something he could eat. They even made his his own meals at the buffets.

Just call back to Dining Reservations and have them note the food allergy on your reservations. Then, as noted above, the chef will speak with you about the allergy and make any necessary suggestions. They'll take good care of you!

The chef will tell you what you can and cannot eat. We do that as my husband has dairy allergies and WDW is wonderful about it.

Hurrah!
Thank you for the replies! I just called and it wasn't a problem at all. The reservationist did think it was kind of funny that I want to eat at the San Angel Inn, being allergic to jalapenos. I think it's really funny too. I'm glad they can accommodate my weird request though!

In addition to listing allergies on your reservations you can contact an allergy specialist by e-mail before you go. On the Disney website under WDW search for "food allergy" and they will give you the e-mail.

Disney does a fantastic job accommodating food allergies.

Have a great trip.
