How far have you driven to get to WDW or DL? I haven't driven to either before but would love to drive to WDW from Minnesota (about 1600 miles) at least once. I think it would be fun seeing things I have never seen before. I guess we did drive from MN to DL once when I was a kid stopping at National Parks along the way. Wait I guess my Wife and I did drive from Key West to WDW one year which is like 250 miles.

It was a little more then 1600 miles because we are a little north of you. We have driven 2 times and will again in 2010.

You should try it it is very neat. We have seen some very interresting things along the way.

:mickey:My husband drove from Fredericton, New Brunswick (Canada) to Disneyworld in 1977 when he was a crazy student. The one way distance is about 2000 miles.
Time obviously was plentiful in those days.

We're just a little over 1000 miles away each way. We're planning to drive it twice this year.

It will be about 552 miles each way for DH and I in September. We're staying in Savannah, GA overnight on the way down, so that we won't be too tired from the drive to enjoy our time in WDW. :mickey:

We drove to WDW from Philly last year. It was about a 1600mi round trip. We left around 4:30am drove straight through on the way down, stayed off site first night. On the way back we had to stop at a motel because we didn't leave until like 11am.

We cheated. We flew into Ft. Lauderdale, and then drove about 250 miles. And it was worth it.:mickey:

Over 2100 miles! (Just for our first two trips). We were driving from AZ, but we did make other stops in Louisiana, Mississippi, and the Florida Panhandle to visit relatives. Like the other poster, that was in the 80s when we seemed to have a lot more time for vacations.

Back in '84 we drove from Ann Arbor MI, 1265 miles by AAA accounts. We did a non-stop drive, 22.5 hours. I drove 20 hours of it. We got to our hotel, checked in, went to dinner in the hotel resteraunt. I had 1 drink, and was totally smashed.

Stupidly, we got up the next morning & did a complete day - open to close - at MK.

Dumb. Reaqlly dumb.

Since then, I've realized how NICE airline travel is...

Our drive to DisneyLand is about 6 hours each way. We try and drive down about once a month if possible... have to get all the value of our annual passes as possible!

I've driven from Sacramento to Orlando twice and am doing it again next January. It is about 2900 miles each way.

I like to drive and hate to fly, so I do it in three days across country.

We regularly drive the 1,325 miles (each way!) to WDW from our home (going back in August!). As a child, we drove out to CA twice to go to Disneyland -- That was 2,500 miles each way in a non-air-conditioned station wagon with 4 kids and Grandma! :mickey:

Well, the first time I drove from home was when I was 5 (quite some time ago!) and it is 2,077km from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada to Orlando, Florida. That is approximately 1,250 miles. We are planning on doing it again in May. It's such a beautiful drive!!

How much time do you have? I've found that when I've driven long trips, I generally don't have time to enjoy any stops along the way. Most of my long distance trips have been highway miles with very little to see along the way.

Unless you have time to stop and enjoy destinations along the way, a drive to Disney World is usually a straight through (with maybe a stop in a hotel [or two]) along the way but without much time to enjoy the trip.
