Child injured at Disneyland in 2000, dies

The little boy fell out of ToonTown Spin at Disneyland in 2000 and was dragged under the car. He has now died of his injuries.

A state investigation concluded that the lap bar on the ride failed and that the boy should not have been sitting by the opening. Disney settled out of court.

This is very tragic, but I found the news headlines to be rather misleading (not that that's anything new) They made it sound like the accident was a recent event. In reality it was nine years ago and the safety concerns have long since been addressed. Still, I'm very sad for his family.

I had exactly the same reaction. [edited per TOS] then I read the article and found that it was several years ago and the problem has been addressed.

Poor family. It's a terrible thing to lose a child.
