Jan. 20, 2002 – Disney’s animated TV series “Teamo Supremo” debuted.
Jan. 20, 2003 – Disney Imagineer David Mumford passed away at the age of 46. At Disneyland, he worked on “Aladdin’s Oasis,” “Star Tours,” and the “Alice in Wonderland” attraction. He began his career as a ride operator at Disneyland’s “Submarine Voyage.”
Jan. 20, 2003 – The Disney ABC Family Reality TV series “The Last Resort” premiered.
Jan. 20, 2004 – The David Kent Mumford PARC Foundation Fund was set up to honor and memoralize the magic and goodness of the late Imagineer and author David Mumford. (PARC is an acronym for Pediatric After-hours Referral Clinic. The clinic is located at Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center, where David was treated.
Jan. 20, 2005 – The peak was lowered into place on the attraction “Expedition Everest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom park at WDW.
Jan. 20, 2005 – Disney’s London theatrical production “Mary Poppins” earned 9 Oliver Award nominations.
Jan. 20, 2005 – WDW announced that River Country, a water park opened since 1976 and last operated in Nov. 2001, would remain closed permanently.
Jan. 20, 2006 – The Disney Channel Original Movie “High School Musical” aired.
Jan. 20, 2007 – Darla K. Anderson was awarded the Producers Guild of America Producer of the Year Award in Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures for her work on the Disney/Pixar film “Cars.” (Anderson also produced “Monsters, Inc.” and “A Bug’s Life.”
Jan. 20, 2007 – “High School Musical: Around The World” premiered on the Disney Channel.
