Please pray for my dad

Today my dad had a stroke, if you could keep him in your prayers please do. I'm in the waiting room of the hospital. Right now they are running an MRI. All we know currently is that there was bleeding in his brain. Hopefully we know more soon.

Your family and your dad are in my thoughts. My father has had 2 strokes so I know what you are going through. Please feel free to let me know if you need anything or just "the ear" of someone who has "been there, done that"!

On the upside, 2 strokes later Dad is still here, playing golf and doing great! It is amazing what physical and occupational therapy can do with stroke patients these days! Figured you could use a positive to focus on!

I'm so, so sorry. I've been there before with my mom (twice) with hemorrhagic strokes (hers were ruptured aneurysms). I've really gotten to hate hospitals.

I am so sorry to hear this. My Dad had a stoke a little over a year ago. Please let us know how things are going and pm me if you have any questions. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he got to the hospital asap and that there wasn't too much damage. As someone else posted earlier, make sure to take care of yourself because he will need you to be able to help him.

My dad was lucky he was smart about this, he was out running errands when his arm & face went numb so he headed straight to the ER. Because they caught this so fast the bleeding in the brain was very limited and he is on his way to a full recovery.

The pronosis is the bleeding was caused by a seizure which will need to be monitored and treated with medicine. If the problem contiues they will need to perform surgery to correct.

Thank God. I will still keep him in my prayers. Anthony's (DF) mom had a stroke a few years ago. She has gone on to an almost full recovery. So there is hope. Sending prayers your way for a full and healthy recovery.

Jeff - That's great new to hear. I'm glad that he's going to make a full recovery, as many stroke victims don't recover from one.


The cause of many strokes is a blockage in the carotid artery. People can be screened for this via an ultrasound and everyone over 50 should be screened. People over 40 who have risk factors should also be screened. I know that Life Line Screening does this all over the country and they screen for other diseases too. The cost of screening isn't high and is definitely worth the cost if it can prevent a stroke. I'm also a proponent of the shingles vaccine.
