Well, I'll go ahead and put the first post of the new year. Myers arrived on Friday, January 2nd at 8:50 am! He weighed 6lbs. 7oz. and was 18 3/4 inches long. He is so sweet and wonderful. George and I are thrilled, and of course our parents are over the moon about their grandchild! He is having a little trouble with breastfeeding- he keeps falling asleep- but lactation came yesterday and this morning and things are going better. I don't know how to post pictures, but if you want to see pics you can PM and I will give you my Facebook info.

It seems fitting that the first post of the year should be a birth announcement! Kristin, I debated posting the news for you but knew you'd be on here sometime to share the news. I'm glad that everything went well with the c-section.

Today was my first day back at work after 3 months. It was really hard to get back into the swing of things and I missed my little guy A LOT. But I knew he was in good hands with my mom which made things much easier for me. I did talk to my boss about working 4 days a week and he thinks it will not be a problem and will have an answer for me by the end of the week. I think an extra day at home with my little guy will make a big difference for me and make me more productive when I am at work.

Nothing beat the big smile on Elias' face when I got home and he instantly stopped fussing when he saw me. It is great to be a mom!!!!

Hi all! This is my first post on the moms club thread. I have 2 children, DS4 and DD2. We are taking DS to WDW at the end of Feb to celebrate his 5th birthday. DD will get her chance to go in 2011.
Lacy- I hope your boss is able to work things out so you can get an extra day at home. I am lucky enough that I haven't had to work since DS was a few months old, but I hated every minute of going to work for those six weeks. We had to put DS in daycare. You are so lucky your mom can watch your DS while you work and I'm sure she loves the chance to care for her grandson.
Kristin- Congratulations on your little boy! Hope you are recovering well from your c-section. It's not exactly easy I know. Hopefully your breast feeding will get off to a good start now that you have help. My DS refused to breast feed, but DD took to it right away which once again goes to show that all babies are different.
I hope everyone has a great day and give lots of hugs and kisses to those babies!

Well, I too am back to work. Yesterday was my first day back. Madeline is 10 weeks old and it was so hard to leave her behind. My DH works from home now and is taking care of her.

She did really well with me being gone and is adjusting to bottles well. Pumping at work has been hard so we'll see how long I can keep this up.

Now that I'm back to work I'll be able to post more regularly again.

Congratulations to all those that are now expecting and those that have given birth.

Susan - I would really recommend going to DL and CA while you are in California for the wedding. It is very doable with a little one. We took my ODD for her 1st birthday and she loved it. Use the Baby Centers for breaks and just go at your child's pace. Be sure to stick to a schedule because it is so easy to lose track of time. Go back to the hotel for naps if you need to. Although my dd was great at naping in her stroller.

Melissa ~ That is great that Madeline is with daddy all day. I'm sure that made it a little easier to transition back to work. I am right there with you about it being hard to pump at work. It takes some getting used to for sure and I'm not sure that I'm completely comfortable with it yet.

The great news is that I am officially a part timer!! :joy: My boss agreed to a 32 hour work week with Fridays off. I am thrilled that I am fortunate enough to get one day a week to spend with Elias!

Kristin ~ I hope the breastfeeding is getting better. Hang in there, it isn't easy. And I hope you guys are getting settled in at home and everything else is going well. He is such a cutie!!

The only bad thing is when he does have to go out of town, she has to go to day care. There are only a couple of days a month he's gone, so that won't be so bad, but it will just be a rough transition for her.

Kristen - Hang in there...I really hope it is going better for you. My ODD was not good at it and it only lasted about 9 weeks.

Hi everyone!
I'm 24 weeks along with #2 and it's going to be a boy! We already have a DD age 2 and I'm very happy to be having one of each. DH and I are still trying to decide on a name...we're having a lot more trouble with boys names!! Any suggestions? I go back to the doctor at the beginning of next week and will soon have the glucose test and another ultrasound. I'll try to post more often but DD doesn't give me much free time! LOL :mickey:

Happy 2009, new moms and moms to be!

Kristin, I was so happy to see that your post was the first one in the 2009 thread. How is Myers doing? How is the nursing going? I have to admit that I was very surprised about how difficult it would be to breast feed. I have a lot of respect for lactation consultants now! I hope that you are recovering well from your c section, and that you're getting as much rest as you can.

Lacy, congrats on becoming a part timer! It must feel great to know that you'll be able to spend more time with Elias! Is it easier to leave him during the day, knowing that you only have a 4 day week?

Melissa, you are very right about pumping at work being difficult. It's been a struggle here to perform "my chore" a few times a day. I don't have my own office so I use the storage closet on our floor. A guy walked in on me pumping about a month ago, it was sooo embarasing! My electric pump broke last week so I've been going back and forth to the day care to nurse at lunchtimes. The one nice thing about that is that it forces me to take a brisk walk! Hopefully my replacement will arrive tonight.

David is 4 months old and we are enjoying him very much. He rolled over on Friday night. We had a rough time with him around Thanksgiving because he was hospitalized for RSV, but he is doing better now. DH and I had 2 weeks off for Christmas vacation and it was wonderful to be home with him for that amount of time. We did have a sad thing happen over break though... Our house was broken into and our computers were stolen... along with all of David's pictures from the hospital! I am really upset about that. Our good news was that our first choice day care had a spot open up, so we switched David's day care at the beginning of the year. So far, he loves the new center, so I feel like I made a good choice for him.

Are any of you swaddling your babies to sleep? I'm using the Swaddle Me for David, but my husband thinks that 4 months is too old for swaddling. Personally, I will try anything to help him sleep at night!

Laura - I'm so sorry about the break in. That happened to us in 2005. They stole all of my dd's (and mine I guess...) Disney movies. It is very hard to explain to a 2 year old why she can't watch Snow White again.

Swaddling is our saving grace. Madeline is only 2 1/2 months but must still be swaddled to go to sleep. If she's not, she wakes up constantly. I think she gets cold and hates being uncuddled. I say, if David still likes it, why change. With Madeline though, we do leave her hands out. If we don't she comes unswaddled. We just use a blaket we got from the hospital, it is made from t-shirt material and I have yet to find another one like it. The flannel blankets just don't work as well.

DisneyBabies

We swaddled both of our kids for as long as they wanted and we could find a big enough blanket :D.
DS was swaddled until he was almost 7months old and we had to get creative. We took one of his receiving blankets and laid it out like a diamond, took a second blanket and folded it in half. We then had to wrap the folded blanket around the upper half of his body around his arms with the ends underneath his back. Then we transfered him to the 'diamond' blanket and wrapped it around him as usual. After we were done, he would try to get out, but as long as he couldn't get his arms out he would go right to sleep. He had to be wrapped tight or he'd cry until we redid his swaddling. Even now when we put him to bed at night we have to tuck his snoopy blanket (from his crib) around his arms and body and then cover him with his comforter. He likes tight spaces.
DD was swaddled almost as long, but didn't like to be as tightly wrapped.

Laura- I hate that your house was broken into. did you have any copies of his hospital pictures printed out? I would be heartbroken if that happened to me!

We are still working on the breastfeeding. I never imagined that something "natural" would be so difficult. We had a meeting with a lactation consultation yesterday and I am feeling somewhat better. Myers always falls asleep while we are nursing. I was having to supplement with pumped milk, but after trying to feed him for 40 or so minutes and then pumping and feeding that milk and then washing the pump parts it was time to feed him again. I was so worn out and so was he. the lactation consultant told me to only breastfeed him for 10-15 minutes right now (until he starts to be more alert and active), then pump and feed him that milk. She said those long sessions were probably making him burn as many calories as he was taking in which was why he wasn;t gaining weight. Also, he is sucking incorrectly at the breast and with a bottle, so we are setting up a consultation with a feeding specialist at the hospital to get some occupational therapy to make breastfeeing happen. I was so frustrated before we went to lactation, but after hearing the consultant talk about how we would work this out and would be successful I feel much more optimistic.

Other than that, Myers is perfect and so cute. I always knew motherhood would be wondeful, but I had no idea how amazing it would be. I also had no idea how tiring it would be, but it is totally worth it!

Laura ~ Yes, knowing that I get a day at home makes it so much easier to go to work the rest of the week. I too find the nursing at work to be a difficult task and can't imagine having someone walk in on me. Great work sticking with it after that! I'm so sorry to hear that you had a rough couple months with David being in the hospital and a break-in. I'm glad David is doing better and hope that things turn around for you guys this New Year.

DineyBabies ~ I'm glad to hear that you swaddled your little ones for a good while. We have been swaddling Elias both overnight and during naps. He just doesn't sleep well if his arms are free and will wake up in the middle of the night if it isn't tight enough. So we plan to continue as long as it is working! Anything for sleep!

Kristin ~ I'm glad you feel better after talking with lactation. It really is crazy how hard something natural can be. And it seems everyone has different problems. I hope the meeting with the feeding specialist goes well. It is great that you have been having luck pumping so you can supplement with that.

I had a really hard time getting the pump to work. It is better now but I am still not getting enough at work to replenish what Elias eats during the day. I'm afraid I'm going to have to start supplementing with formula soon but really don't want to.

Kristen - I'm so glad that you met with a consultant. I had tried and tried to get my ODD to nurse and when it finally started going well, I had to go back to work. I had to put her in day care and they fed her 8oz every 3 hours and I could not keep up with that schedule with pumping. I was lucky if I could pump once a day. So, we ended nursing at about 10 weeks. I was so frustrated. It's amazing how different things can be. This time is 180 degrees different. Madeline had a latch issue the first couple of days, but once we resolved that things got better. Now, if I could just get more that 2oz off each side when I'm pumping I'd be happy.

Hi all!

For those having pumping trouble, hopefully it wil get better soon. I wasn't able to feed DS at all. DD took to breast feeding like she'd done it for months. But pumping was another story.

I had a really hard time getting more than an ounce or two at first. In the end, it took me several months to start getting enough to make it worth it. I had to go into a dark room, sit in a rocker with blankets and pillows, get the pump ready, put my DD's baby blanket over my face and take deep breaths and rock until I relaxed enough to almost doze off, then turn on the pump and sit until I "woke" up. At least I'd get 6 or 8 ounces at a time, but it was a very time consuming process for me. It got to the point where I could only pump if DH was home because DD was a very "high maintenence (sp?)" baby and had to be held almost 24/7 the first five months :D.

I just hope the next (hoped for) baby takes to it as easily as DD did and at least I have a system I can try for pumping from the very beginning.

Hope you get some relief soon Mommies!

Hey guys! Sorry I've been MIA for a while. It took this long to dawn on me that the reason I wasn't getting any more (subscription) emails was that the threads changed at New Years. I guess it's true that pregnancy brain doesn't end with pregnancy!

Laura - I'm so sorry to hear about the pictures. Call me paranoid, but I worry about the computer frying, or our house burning, or something like that. That's why I carry a 4GB flash drive in the diaper bag. Every few weeks, I back up the picture files from the computer to the flash drive. That way, if something happens to the files on the computer or my scrapbooks, I still have the pictures. (The sad thing is, my pictures of Samantha have just about filled the drive already!)

Lacy - Good for you for asking off! We were out last Friday due to the cold (negative temps don't happen often in middle TN) and this Monday for MLK day. It was so nice to be with Samantha for 4 days straight again!

Kristin - I fortunately only have to pump once during the day. Samantha only eats every 4 hours, so I feed her at 8am and then take her to the sitter's. She gets a bottle at noon. Then, since I teach, I am done and have her back by the 4pm feeding. I have noticed that I forget to drink as much at school (highschoolers will do that to you!), and sometimes am stressed out. It's then that I have to pump again at bedtime to get a full bottlle for the next day. I am stockpiling my milk, though (from before I went back to work, and what I can get on weekends). My goal is to have enough so that I don't have to pump at all next school year, but can still give her breast milk until she's a year old.

Kairi - We still swaddle Samantha at night, and she's almost 4 months. She sleeps soundly for naps without it, but she has to have it at night. She's too long for the velcro swaddlers now, so we just wrap them around her arms. She's an arm swinger if there ever was one!

Sam got her first cold this weekend, so I took off work yesterday to take her to the doctor. It's just sinus, but she's running a low-grade fever, so I wanted to be sure nothing else was wrong. Her cough is so pitiful, and I hate that I can't do anything for her. I've just been giving her tylenol to keep her comfortable, and holding her more than normal.
She rolled over (back to front) for the first time a couple of days ago, but still really fights being on her tummy, so it may be a while before she rolls front to back. She loves to stand, though, and often refuses to sit. She's fairly good at it, and makes me wonder if she'll ever bother to crawl.
She's so petite that she won't have much weight to carry when she does walk. I had to go through her closet and get rid of every 0-3 month footed sleeper, because she's so long and her feet are so big. But she's still wearing 0-3's because her waist isn't big enough to hold the pants up, nor her shoulders wide enough to fill out the collars. She's gained 5 lbs since birth, and just about that many inches. Crazy kid!

Susan ~ Great to have you back in the discussion  I hope Sam is feeling better. I feel so very fortunate that Elias hasn't been sick yet. I bet it is very hard to see her in pain. I enjoy reading about your Sam updates and think a lot of it sounds familiar. Elias loves it when we help him stand up and rolled over a week or so ago as well.

EpcotChic ~ CONGRATS! and welcome to the 'club'. I got a lot of helpful advice from my Intercot friends and just found it nice to have somewhere to discuss my pregnancy.

We have Elias' 4 month check-up this week. It really is amazing how fast the times goes already! He is getting to be so 'talkative' and is starting to like playing with toys.

Hey y'all!

I wanted to check in because it has been awhile since I have posted.

Myers has his 1 month check-up on Monday. I can't believe he is a month old. It does not seem like it has been that long!

An update on the breastfeeding thing...everytime we went back to completely breastfeeding, Myers would begin to lose weight because he was such a slow eater. The pediatrician thought that he was probably burning as many calories as he was bringing in! So I have resorted to just pumping and feeding him from a bottle. I really don't care how he gets the breast milk, just as long as he gets it! It's a little harder b/c I have to carry the pump anytime we go anywhere like to my parents house, but it is worth it.

My dad gave us 180 DVC points to use this summer for Myers's 1st trip to the world. I think we are going to go mid July and get a 2 bedroom at Old Key West of Saratoga Springs. I know July is terribly hot, but we are going then so that my brother can come with us. It has been almost 3 years since he last went and he will be home in July. Hopefully Florida will have some cool days while we are there! If not we live in Georgia, so we can handle the heat. Disney is always magical, I can't wait to go with Myers. I know he won't really be old enough to take a lot of stuff in, but I can't wait for all the photo ops. We listen to Disney music all the time, especially as he goes to sleep, so he is already well versed in Dinsey music. I am reading the Complete Tales of Winnie the Pooh right now, and I can't wait to take him on the Pooh ride.

We had a bit of a rough weekend starting with our 4 month check-up on Friday. In general, Elias is doing good especially developmentally but he fell off of his growth curve so they said he wasn't gaining enough weight. After a discussion with the pediatrician we decided that I'd have to start supplementing with formula or spend time with lactation trying to get the pump to work better for me. I just was never able to get the pump to work very well and couldn't pump enough to make up for what Elias was eating during the day. Plus, Elias decided that he liked the bottle and didn't really like all the work that went into nursing so my supply really started to drop. So we've decided to supplement and start to ween. The pediatrician said that he considers 4 months to be fully breastfed and that I should be proud that we were able to go 4 months. However, I had a hard time accepting it as it is not at all what I had planned. So I spent the weekend trying to adjust to the fact that we won't be breastfeeding much longer. I'm coming to terms with it and have decided it is what is best as the nursing and pumping was never easy.

On a positive note, I've started going to a Stroller Stride work-out group here in my neighborhood. It is a lot of fun to see babies/toddlers of all different ages and to meet other moms. Plus, it is a great workout!

Kristin ~ How did the 1 month check-up go? Very excited that you have a WDW trip planned and that your brother will get to go too. I just get on Intercot and pretend that I have a trip to plan  I guess I can start planning for 2010, right?

I hope everything is going well for all you other moms and babies!

I'm sorry. Lacy. I know I'd cry for sure if I had to quit nursing Sam. We go Friday for her 4-month, so we'll see how she's doing then. She's a skinny girl, but really long, too. (I constantly hear "She's so petite!" or "Look at those long legs!") I've been lucky in that she only gets one bottle a day, and only on weekdays. She'd still much rather nurse. My pumping has slowed though. I think it's because I'm in too big of a hurry at lunch. I'm burning through my stock-piled milk!

Well, I've come to terms with the fact that we can't afford to go to So Cal for my friend's wedding, which also means no trip to DL. :( We're just too far in the hole after mat. leave, to be putting plane tickets, hotel, etc. on the credit card. I'm still holding out hope that we can do an overnighter trip to WDW for Sam's first birthday, though, I know she'll never remember, but I will. :D Plus, it'll be 4 months longer to save. We live about 12 hours away, so we could drive through the night, spend a day at MK, get a cheap room (Ha!) for the night, spend a day at EPCOT, and drive home that night. If we went on her actual b-day, it backs up to a weekend, so we could sleep for a while before returning to work. I know it's a stretch, but it never hurts to dream, right? :cloud9:

Lacy - I'm so sorry. I went through that with my ODD. I just couldn't figure out the pumping thing, I could only pump once a day and between the colic and not getting enough to eat and the fact that she rejected me for the middle of the night feedings, I was a wreck. I finally ditched feeding and started supplementing. I cried everytime I fed her a bottle and I felt like a failure. In the grand scheme of things though, looking back, I did the best I could for her and supplementing her feedings was what she really needed. She fed for almost 3 months and she did great when she was on formula. She is a happy, smart and very independant 5 year old. You would never know that she was only bf for 3 months. Good luck and

Susan - I'm sorry to hear about your trip to DL. Hopefully things will get better for all of us soon so that we can return the magical places that we love so much. I will be crushed if we can't take our little one to DL for her first birthday in Oct.

Things have been awful for us the last couple of weeks, and I'm just hoping that things get better soon. My job can't make payroll on time and my dh's hours just got cut. I'm just so sad and disapointed with everything right now. I really want to be home with my dd and it kills me every morning to leave her. I'm so lucky that my dh gets to stay home with her and work from home and I should be very, very thankful that he still has a job...it just doesn't make things any easier....sorry for being a downer today...:crying:

Myers's 1 month check-up went really well. He is 7lbs 7oz and 20 1/2 inches. The ped is happy with his growth although he is still in newborn clothes and probably will be for another week or so. He told me that I no longer have to wake him up at night to feed him, but I get to let him wake me up when he is hungry. The past two nights he has let me sleep for 4 1/2 hours one night and almost 6 hours the other:thumbsup:

Lacy- I'm sorry that you won't be able to nurse for much longer. It's always hard when things don't go as you planned. It's almost like you have to mourn that loss. I know I had to do that with the c-section and when I had to start pumping and feeding. But it is great that you made it to 4 months. You gave Elias and awesome start, and you should be proud of yourself for that! Plus, these days formula has so much good stuff in it that it is really close to breastmilk quality. Not like back in the day when my mom was little...her "formula" recipe from her ped. consisted of condensed milk, Karo syryp and water and she is a completely healthy adult!! The most important thing is that he is healthy and happy, however that happens!

Susan- It's too bad that you won't be able to make it to DL this summer. We want to visit my husband's best friend in California, but we too realize that with airfare, hotel, and the trip to DL that I would insist upon if we were that close would be way too expensive right now. Amazingly, I don't think your idea for Sam's birthday is crazy at all! It doesn't matter if she doesn't remember because you will!

Melissa- I'm sorry that things are tough financially right now. I hope things get better soon.

Melissa - I'm sorry to hear that times are tough. My mom called last night to tell me that my brother arrived at work yesterday to find out that his company is closing its doors on Feb. 21. That wouldn't be such a blow (he still lives with my parents) if he hadn't just put all his savings into an engagement ring.
We seem to get a nightly call from bill collectors. My husband's work was cut back to 32 hours 3 weeks into my maternity leave. I probably should've gone back to work earlier, but I just couldn't give up my time with Sam, you know? So I just keep explaining the situation and promising to pay as soon as we get it. Thank God for my little tax break!
Just know that we I'cot girls are here if you need to vent! :grouphug:

Kristin - Sam was born Oct. 1 and she wore newborn clothes until T'giving. In fact, except for footed sleepers, she's still in 0-3's now. So don't worry.
Isn't it nice when they let you sleep? Did you and George jump out of bed scared the first time he slept 6 hours? The first time Sam did that, my DH vaulted over me and out of bed to make sure she was okay! Of course, he still touches her lips when she's really still. He waits til she makes her pouty face, so he'll know she's okay, and goes on.

I mentioned the WDW idea to my DH last night and he was all for it, so hopefully we can find the money for it somewhere in the next 8 months. Now if only TSM was at MK or EPCOT, cause we definitely can't afford 3-day tickets!

A herb called Fenugeek helps with milk production too. I was taking that for awhile and it really helped, but be forewarned, it makes you smell like Maple Syrup! Good if you like pancakes, bad if you don't...

My husband and I met 9 years ago on Wednesday which got me thinking that it might be cool to share our stories of how we met our husbands and how they proposed. Here's mine...

My husband's younger sister was my roommate my freshman year of college. She invited a bunch of us to come to her house one weekend to meet her family and friends and to go out to eat in Atlanta. It was a bunch of girls and one guy so she invited her brother and his best friend to go with us as well. Well, I met George when he came home from work that Friday and immediately thought he was cute. He apparently thought the same b/c when his best friend arrived he told him, "The blonde is mine." (A very bold statement from my normally reserved husband!) Well, we really hit it off and went on our first "real" date the next weekend. From then on there wasn't a weekend we didn't spend together until we got married when I graduated from college. (We lived about an hour away from each other the whole time we dated.) And here we are 9 years later!

I'll have to get back with my engagement story because my little man calls!

My OB also recommended that I drink more water. I've been doing that it's been better. I've also needed to eat more calories I think. I'm not complaining, but I'm actually about 30lbs less than when I got pregnant and I only gained 11 pounds with the baby, so I guess I've lost 41 pounds in about 3 months.

So, my story is kind of long...sorry!!!

I've actually known my husband since he was 13 and I was 15...gasp...I know...a younger man. We bowled in a junior league together and we were really good friends for a number of years. He actually tried to kiss me when he was 18 and I was 20, but I told him no. After, that, we both got into long term relationships with other people which didn't work out. About 4 years later, a friend of ours graduated from college and invited us both to the party. I guess he wasn't going to come to the party, but our friend called him and told him that I was there and he came rushing over so he could see me. We talked for a couple of hours and I gave him my phone number. He called for about a month, but I never returned his calls. He finally called me at work one day to give it one last try. I agreed to go out with him. We went out for about a month as friends, when I told him that I had committed to go out on a blind date with someone else several weeks earlier. While on the blind date with this other guy, I thought about him the entire time. I knew then that he was it for me. I called him the next day and asked him to dinner and a movie. That night was our first kiss. He moved in a month and a half later. A year after our first date, on July 17, 1999 (Disneyland's Anniversary) we went to Disneyland and he proposed to me at the Snow White Grotto Wishing Well.

My husband I met fishing off a dock where my brother keeps his boat. :boat: I still remember that day like it was yesterday. I was fishing off the dock with some friends when this guy come up and starts talking to my friends. I remember thinking to myself wow he’s cute! Eventually my friends introduced us. We actually hit it off well and became great friends. Because we were at my brother boat my whole family was also at the marina so Mike met my entire family right away. Mike is really shy and it took him about a year from the time we met for him to ask me out. He actually had even asked my dad if he could take me out on our first date and we have been inseparable from that time on.

We dated for about four months before we got engaged. I know that seems quick, but over the year we were friends we were together all the time and I already knew he was the one for me. He actually took me back to the very place we met to ask me to marry him. We stood on the dock watching the sun set and just as the sun touched the water he popped the question (down on one knee). Mike had not only grown close with me over the year it took him to ask me out, he had also become close with my family. So of course he asked my fathers permission to marry my. My father was of course overjoyed and said yes. We were married July 9, 2004. :bride::groom:

That’s the story of how I meet and married my husband! Hope you enjoyed.

Hi ladies, thanks for all the kind words. It really did help and make me feel better.

Melissa & Susan ~ Sorry to hear about your financial troubles. It is a difficult time especially with a new little one. We're always here to "listen"!

Susan ~ great idea on the Facebook group!

Kristin ~ fun idea for a discussion.

DH and I met my freshman year of college. We were in the same chemistry lab group. Insert corny chemistry in chemistry class joke here. We never hung out outside of class that semester but DH called me out of the blue 4 months later to ask me to his fraternity formal. I was not into the greek scene but agreed to go because it was the engineering fraternity. We had a good time but I didn't think anything would come of it because I was leaving for the WDW college program in a month. I was very surprised that he came to visit for a weekend. We had a great weekend at WDW and Busch Gardens and called each other a lot more after his visit. My family jokes that if it weren't for DH I would have never left the college program. We learned a lot about each other over the phone and by the time I went back to school 7 months later there was no question that we were together.

DH asked me to marry him about a year after I got back with a very low key proposal. We were just hanging out at his fraternity and he told me he wrote me a poem and had a question for me. We went ring shopping the next day. It was the perfect proposal for me!

Hi everyone,

I can't believe it's been 7 months since I posted. All is well here. Gracey is 7 months old and growing too quickly. She's a super easy baby which really helps. Other than that not much new here.

How are all of you?

What a great discussion right before Val's day!
Melissa - don't worry, my man's even younger... 4yrs 9mos younger than me to be exact!

I met David when I was 16 and he was 12, when we both started working at the same cub scout camp, although it was many years later before we were more than fellow counselors. We slowly became friends, but the fact that I was the only teen girl with 20 or so boys kept us apart often. We hung out together a little more each year, but I was 22 and he was 17 before we started "flirting". I was still really put off by the age difference, but I left my email address with the adult that brought him to camp, before heading back to college (250 miles away). A month later, he emailed me, and I danced around my apartment. But I struggled for almost a year trying to decide if he was just too young. (I was graduating with my 2nd degree, and he was graduating highschool). We talked for that year by email, but never broached the subject of attraction. At camp the next summer, he finally got up the courage to ask me out, on June 16, 2004, and I said yes, after a night of me deliberating, and him not sleeping. Before the week was over, we'd said our first "love you's" and had our first kiss (and my first-first kiss... really, at 23!). I don't remember the exact date, but he'd asked me to marry him before the end of the first month, and I agreed (still don't know how I knew so quickly). He later proposed with a ring, on Feb. 4. We were married 13 months to the day after our first date, in the big field at "our camp," on July 16, 2005. We still work that camp every year, but now as a couple.

Okay, I am back with the story of our engagement. George proposed on my 21st birthday. We were looking at the stars in a field at midnight when he got up on one knee (we were laying on a blanket). I, of course, said yes.

Funny story though...when George called to ask my Dad's permission, my Dad asked when? George thought he meant when was he going to ask me. My dad meant when would the wedding be. When George said that it would the coming weekend my dad just about had a fit. But of course George clarified that he was going to ask me that weekend and then wait to marry me when I graduated from college and my dad was more than happy to give us his blessing!

I called and made the reservations for Myers's first trip to the World- only 157 days to go!

Congrats!

I need some advice about getting babies on schedules. How old was your LO when he/she was on a schedule. I am going back to work in a little less than 7 weeks and I know we are going to have to get on some sort of a schedule. I will have to be waking up at 5am in order to get myself and Myers ready and be at school by 7am. Right now, he is going to bed at night around 10pm and getting up once at around 4am and then we wake up at 8 or 9. Obviously this schedule is not going to work once I go back to school. I wanted to slowly move to a 8 or 9pm bedtime. That way he would wake up around 1 or 2 am and then I could get him up around 6am once I am dressed and ready for work. Of course, he is also still sleeping in our bed about half the time. I hate to just leave him to cry himslef to sleep in his own room, but I think it will have to come to this soon since I am unable to get a restful night sleep with him in our room or in our bed. Do y'all let your LO's cry themselves to sleep? How long did it take before they didn't cry every night? I am wondering if I started a nap schedule would he sleep better at night. We try not to let him nap after about 4 or 5pm, but sometimes he falls asleep while we are playing with him. Any advice would be appreciated!

With Maddie, she's been pretty flexible. When my dh has to go out of town, all of our schedules go out the window. She takes it in stride. I might suggest, just gradually adjusting her schedule, maybe a half hour a time over a few days.

The sleeping thing is a whole differnt story. That can be more difficult. There are a few methods that you can research, one of the them is the Ferber method and I don't recall some of the other methods off the top of my head. I have not read any of those but, what I did was transitioned her from our bed to a pack n play next to our bed then to a crib. I would only let her cry about 10 minutes, and then check her diaper, feed her and then try again. It's all a matter of personal choice on how to move forward at this point.

So, Maddie had her 4 month well baby yesterday and she is still really little weight wise, but is very long. 14% for weight but 65% for length. The dr is not concerned though since she is on the same growth pattern so far. She was not well for her well baby though. She had to go to daycare last week since my dh was out of town. The provider's son was really sick with what I thought the 1st day was a cold. It turned out to be pnemonia (sp?) by the end of the week. So, sure enough, on Saturday, Maddie started sneezing and by Sunday, she was congested, coughing and looked just miserable. The dr took a look at her and said that she more than likely has RSV. She said that they have had a ton of cases come in over the last couple of days. Word of advise, keep your little ones away from those with cold symptoms. Maddie actually started coughing last night and sharted choaking. It was scary, but she was okay.

I need some advice about getting babies on schedules. How old was your LO when he/she was on a schedule.

Kristin, I'm pretty sure our schedules are roughly the same, with us both being teachers. Now, Sam's been sleeping through the night since 8 weeks, so that's a bit different. But I thought I would tell you her schedule and maybe you could tweak it to fit your needs.

Bedtime is at 9, or as close as we can get to that. She wakes sometimes during the night, but once I replace her bink, she's out again. Before I got to bed, I get everything of hers ready for the next day (diapers, wipes, cereal, spoon, bottle, bib... and lay her outfit out.)
She wakes me up between 4:30-5am to eat, then I put her back to bed. I get up at 6 to get myself ready for school. While I'm getting ready, my DH gets her up, changes her diaper, dresses her, and puts her in the carseat. (She typically falls back asleep then).
Now, I take her with me to school, and keep her until 9am, but since you're pumping, it could work about the same. I wake her at 8:30, give her cereal, and then nurse her.
At 9:00, she goes to the sitters. She naps from 10-12, and then has a bottle around 12:30. I get her back at 2:00.
We're home by 4:00, which is when she eats next. I try very hard not to let her sleep more than an hour between then and her next feeding. Of course, she's older, so that helps.
At 8:00, she gets another bowl of cereal and is nursed. Then we change her into her pj's and keep her up a little longer. She typically gets drowsy around 8:50, so we pop the bink in her mouth and calm things down. We put her in her cradle (still in our room) around 9:00.

Now, as for your other questions, that doesn't mean she falls asleep immediately. But we know that if she isn't drowsy, she isn't going to sleep right away. I made the mistake of letting her take a 4 hour nap between 4-8 last night (I had a stack of papers 5 inches high to grade, and she was quiet... I just couldn't bring myself to keep her up). We didn't get to sleep until almost midnight! But that's not normally the case. I don't let her cry it out, but I don't hold her til she's sleeping, and I usually don't stay with her. I put her to bed and leave the room. When she cries, I return, give her bink back to her and leave again. I don't want her relying on my being there, so that the transistion to her room will be easier. By the way, we plan to do that over spring break (week after next). That way, if I don't get to bed on time, it's okay. I'm also thinking about starting some veggies then... haven't made a solid decision there.
And yes, nap schedules help! An overly tired baby won't sleep well at night, either. Of course, if Myers is like Sam, he'll probably start sleeping longer at night pretty soon.

I know this is getting long... sorry:blush:

Melissa, I'm sorry to hear that Maddie has RSV, such a horrible thing for a baby! Sam's right there with her, though, in regards to the long and skinny thing. At her 4 month, she was in the 10th for weight and the 80th for length! The cereal seems to be putting some weight on her now, though.

I just wanted to shout it. WE'RE GOING TO WDW! After some calculations, I think we can afford the free dining promo. So I booked us from Sept. 27 - Oct. 1. Now, I'm just hoping we can get CRT on the morning of the 1st for Sam's b-day... ::crossed::

BTW, for those of you on FB, please keep this a secret. We can't afford the trip to So Cal for my friend's wedding, so she won't understand this. But all 3 of us can go to WDW for 5 days (including resort, park hoppers, and dining) for the cost of just plane tickets to So Cal.

Congrats January-2007!!! Welcome to the great club of motherhood.

Susan what wonderful news!! That will be such a fun way to celebrate Sam's birthday.

Kristin ~ I don't have much advice for you on the schedule since we haven't figured out how to get Elias on a schedule yet. He consistently sleeps at night but doesn't take consistent naps. Since he is sleeping at night and happy during the day we haven't worried about getting a schedule. The one thing I will say is that we don't gain anything by trying to keep Elias awake in the evening. In fact some nights when we've tried to keep him up he sleeps worse than the nights when he naps from 6-9.

Melissa ~ so sorry that Madeline had RSV. I hope she is doing better.

Elias had his weight check today and he's up to 13 lbs at 5 months. They said height and weight he is 5th percentile but I don't need to be concerned since he is back on the charts. He's just going to be small. And they said no cereal or anything for another month.

Melissa- It must be really hard to have a sick little one. I hope Maddie is feeling better!

Susan- I'm glad you figured out a way to make it to WDW for Samantha's b-day. If you can't get CRT think about 1900 Park Fare. I couldn't get CRT for my birthday last year and we did Park Fare instead and had lots of fun!

Lacy- I'm glad Elias is back on the charts. I think Myers is going to be tiny too. He finally hit 9 lbs at 7 1/2 weeks. Some of my friends kids were that big at birth!

Thanks for all the advice on schedules. We have started giving Myers his last feeding at 8pm and then start trying to get him to sleep around 9pm. He has been doing pretty good most nights. We have had to go in a few times a night when he cries until he finally drifts off by himself. Friday night he actually slept from 9pm-3:30am! Of course then Saturday he wouldn't go to sleep until close to midnight! Then again his schedule was a little off b/c his my parents came to babysit him while George and I went out for his 30th birthday. We went to see Slumdog Millionaire (very good) and had sushi for dinner. It was nice to get out, but after being gone for 4 hours I really started missing Myers. It was the longest I have ever been away from him.

BTW it is snowing pretty hard right now. I think we might have a good bit of accumulation (well, a good bit by Georgia standards). I may have to bundle Myers up and get some pictures of him during his first real snow!

I know it’s been a while since I have posted, but thing here have been really crazy. I was doing daycare for a friend for a few months, but quickly discovered that watching 4 kids under the age of 2 ½ was insane. So I decided that in order to keep my sanity our two little ones were enough for me.

Gavin just had his 18 month checkup. He is in the 55% for weight, but here is the kicker he is off the carts for height. The doctor says that they project he will be 6 +. I don’t know how much I believe in predicting height at such a young age, but it’s hard to think my baby will be towering over me someday. My husband is 6’ 4” so that shouldn’t surprise me. We just enrolled Emme into preschool and she can’t wait for fall to get here!

I am so happy to hear that everyone is doing well and that your little ones are growing so quickly. It seems to go bye in the blink of an eye. I love reading on the progress of all you little ones.

Kristen good luck with your snow fall! After it’s done with you it’s headed my way. We are projected to get 8-10”. The kids are going to love playing outside tomorrow. I honestly can’t wait for spring.

Hey everyone! I have been feeling a lot of morning sickness and was wondering how many months that usually lasts, just the first three, or more? We're going to WDW in August when I'll be about 6 months, and I sure hope I don't feel sick then. Any suggestions for planning the trip? Thanks!

January 2007- Morning sickness usually goes away around the end of your 1st trimester. I had one friend who had morning sickness her entire pregnancy, but her doctor gave her medicine to take since she was unable to function normally and couldn't keep missing days at work. A few things you might want to try are peppermints and ginger tea or ginger snaps. Those all worked well for me.
I hope you have fun on your trip to Disney. DH and I went when I was 25 weeks pregnant and had a blast! Drink lots of water and take lots of breaks. We went back to the resort right after lunch each day and took a nap and then headed back to the park around 4 or so. I think that would be even more important b/c of the heat in August.

Myers had his 2 month check-up on Wednesday. He is 9lbs 8 oz and 21 inches long. That's 10th percentile weight and 5th in height. He had to have three shots and it was so hard to watch. I think it was more difficult for me than it was for him. He cried until I was able to comfort him, but I wanted to cry everytime I thought about it for the rest of the day!

January 2007 - You should be over most of your morning sickness by your trip, but you may still have triggers. By that I mean, smells, tastes or textures that make you queezy. For me it was mashed potatoes, bananas and things that had a really strong meaty smell. Weird, I know. By then, you should learn some tricks to help combat the icky feeling. I found that if I ate more protien in the morning, I felt better. I also found that if I snacked more frequently it also helped.

I hope that everyone in snow country is doing well. We have been getting a lot of rain, but we really need it.

Kristen - It sounds like Myers is a little peanut like my Madeline. The shots are the worst. With Abby, I cried worse than she did when they gave them to her. I still feel bad when they get the shots, but as they get older they sometimes don't even react. One time Abby actually slept through the shot.

Madeline's RSV seems to be clearing up well. We had been giving her an abuterol (sp?) treatments before bed and we had really rough nights. She wouldn't stay asleep, or she would get so upset, she would be difficult to get calmed down. Yesterday, she didn't cough at all so we skipped the breathing treatment and she did great, got some sleep and she doesn't seem congested at all. We also did her first rice ceral feeding last night. It went ok, she seemed to be indifferent about it at first, but then she took a couple of big bites.

My dh and I talked and it looks like we will be making two trips to DL this year! YEAH!!! We are going to use his hotel points and are going to just really watch our money when we go. I am so excited. We aren't going to tell our oldest about her birthday trip. It will be a surprise. We will be there on her actual birthday, so it should be a lot of fun. I will have to pull her out of kindergarten for one day for one trip and half of a day for her trip. Hopefully her teacher won't have an issue with it. I know I won't do it much if at all as she gets older.

hi ladies! i'm 24 weeks now and DH and i just got back from WDW on saturday night. we stayed for 8 days and had a blast. there were so many pregnant women there! missing out on the thrill rides was a little stinky but just being in disney was awesome!!!

my question - do any of you ladies have Disney themed nurseries?? i really want to do a disney theme but am having trouble finding bedding sets. i'm having a boy so i don't want princesses and i don't want pooh (not b/c it's girly, just b/c i'm not crazy about pooh!)

any thoughts on where to find disney nursery stuff? or what kind of things i could do to decorate? i am a TERRIBLE decorator. anyone have pics???? thanks!:mickey:

Dumbo buddy- I'm glad you had fun at Disney. It is tough to have to skip all the thrill rides, but it's all worth it in the end. I missed Space Mountain this past trip, will miss it this summer when it is down, and hopefully I will be pregnant with out second on our 2010 trip, so it will be 4 years between times I get to ride it:(
We considered a Disney themed nursery, but couldn't find anything we really liked. I was at Babies r Us today and there was a really cute Mickey sports themed set that must have been new. I had never seen it before, but it was really cute.

Myers and I were in the St. Patrick's Day parade in my hometown today. It is the kind of parade that no one actually watches, everyone just joins in on the parade as it passes by you. It was so fun. I used to be in the parade when I was little so it was nice for him to be able to take part in it as well. My mom made a sign for his stroller that said, "My mommy marched in the St. Patrick's Day parade and now I am too!" and it had pictures of me when I was little all dressed up. My mom posted pics on Facebook, so if you go to my page you can see my cute little Leprechaun!

Dumbo Buddy - If you don't find a theme that you like, you can always just improvise. With our first, we did blue walls and then did white clouds on the walls, some of the them in Mickey shapes, then we just did some Disney art and neutral bedding. This time, we did lavendar walls with a pixie dust stensil boarder and again neutral bedding and some Tinkerbell artwork.

How is everyone doing with your little ones or pregnancies? It seems like it has been awhile since I've been on Intercot. I have Elias' 6 month check-up tomorrow....I really can't believe how fast it has gone!

I had a really long and awful week at work and we had a blizzard today but I'm very happy and had to share with my Intercot buddies that we just booked Elias' first trip to a Disney park!!!! We are going to Disneyland for one day on DH's birthday which is in a month. We started looking at the numbers and found cheap flights and decided that it would be worth it and we don't have to take time off of work. It will be a very fast trip but so worth it! I am just so excited about a day at Disneyland with Elias! And I can't believe that we are actually able to take advantage of the get in free on your birthday promo since DH's b-day is on a Saturday. Please don't say anything on FB as I have to tell my sister who is going to be jealous that she won't be able to go with us.

Lacy - I'm so happy that you get to go to DL! David and I decided to change the dates of our trip in the fall, but we're still planning to go. We just needed to use less vacation days. I've been doing lots of research on things at WDW that Samantha can do, and it turns out that most of the things she can do, we've never done before. Neither DH or I have ever spent much time around Fantasyland, other than to get character pics. So we'll be experiencing a whole new "world." We're going for 4 days, so I'm trying to decide which park to do twice. I see no reason to go to DHS, as Sam could do very little there. Although, DH will probabaly balk at not seeing Fantasmic. We may hop from AK to DHS one night, but I was trying to save the $100 and not hop. Decisions, decisions...

So last Friday, we overslept. DH jumped out of bed and raced off to work, making it there with 1 minute to spare. I wasn't technically late, yet, so I took my time getting Sam ready. She had this tiny little cough, that sounded like she was faking (not that she knows how yet, that's just what it sounded like). Well, when I picked her up from the sitter's, she said she felt a little warm. I took her temp and it was 99.9 under her arm (wasn't at home to get a rectal). I debated back and forth about calling the doctor, but finally decided I didn't want to deal with the on-call dr. if it got worse over the weekend. We raced in to the office, trying to make the last appt. of the day. It turns out, Sam had/has pnuemonia! I had no clue! She was fine on Thursday, and by Friday afternoon was panting for breath! So she's been on antibiotics for a week now.
I kind of expected her to get sick, as the sitter's kids were sick all the week before, but not that sick. Crazy kid! She's been really healthy other than this.

So how are the other little ones?

meldan98
03-27-2009, 11:49 AM
Lacy - I'm so happy for you that you get to go to DL. You guys will have so much fun.

Susan - I'm so sorry to hear that Sam had pnuemonia. Abby had that when she was two and it was so hard to see her be so miserable. I'm glad that your momma bear instinct kicked in though on going to the dr. when you did.

Maddie has had a horrible week sleeping. She would get up almost every two hours crying. I checked her mouth on Tuesday to see if she was teething and everything looked fine. I figured, she was just going through a growth spurt. Last night was Abby's open house at school, so when I finally got home last night and ate, Maddie got super fussy and she just started screaming. She sounded like she was in horrible pain. My dh came running into the room asking if I pinched her or something. I had no idea what the issue was. I changed her into her pajamas and got her a new diaper and she was still miserable, so I took her into the kitchen and looked in her mouth again. There it was, a brand new tooth, just starting to break through the skin. A little tylenol and a little rub of some baby oragel latter, she was sound asleep and actually slept for 5 hours. Finally, our house got a little sleep last night.

Dumbo Buddy- I turned 28 on September 29th, so our birthdays are pretty close.

Lacy- I am excited to hear about your trip to DL! You will have to post lots of pics on facebook.

Susan- I am so sorry to hear about Sam. I hope she is feeling better soon.

Melissa- How exciting about Maddie's first tooth!

Myers is 12 weeks old today! I can't believe how fast time is flying. He is now smiling up a storm and laughs a lot too. He is too stinking cute!

Brittany,

Welcome to the group! Congratulations! When I took my first test with my ODD, I just about fell over, since we had sort of been trying for over a year. I was in this state of shell shockness until I saw the ultrasound. Then, it became real. Best of luck to you!

Brittany- Congrats....I know there are so many emotions that you go through when you see that positve test. I was excited, nervous, scared, and giddy all at once!

As far as a OTC prenantal vitamin goes, I just went to Walmart and got one when we first started trying. I think all OTC prenatal vitamins are pretty much equal. The main thing is you want the Folic Acid.

Hey everyone!! I haven't posted here in awhile but I wanted to say 'hi' and give a baby update! I'm currently in my 37th week of pregnancy and the doc said he could make an appearance any time after this weekend!!!! I'm excited and nervous at the same time because we haven't finished getting ready for him yet. I still have to wash his clothes, pack both of our bags for the hospital and do a few other things before he's born. I remember having a huge burst of energy the day before my first DD came but it's been the complete opposite with little DS-to-be. I have been SO tired throughout this entire pregnancy and I have little to no energy right now. I've been trying to eat well, rest and take all my vitamins but nothing seems to be helping my energy level. I didn't have a 2 1/2 year old last time, so I'm thinking that maybe that has something to do with it. Anyway, I'm hoping that things will move along quickly because I am SO READY to get this baby out!! LOL I know a newborn is hard work but at least when he's here I won't have a 30+lb stomach to deal with.

Anyway, thanks for letting me vent!! :)

mjaclyn ~ Good luck with these last few weeks and I hope the baby comes soon! I can just imagine how much work it is to get ready with a 2.5 year old.

Brittany ~ Congrats! And I completely understand all the emotions but it really is amazing!!! My doc just told me to get the cheapest prenatals for my whole pregnancy. She said they are all fine and it isn't necessary to pay more for special ones.

Elias is moving around a lot and we think he'll be crawling in the next week or so!!

Congrats Heather!

Mjaclyn, I hope we hear some good news soon!

Diznee, Congrats! It only took us two "tries" also. We were ready but not expecting it that soon! I take it this is your first?

I took Sammie for her 6 month check-up yesterday. She weighs a whopping 13lbs 2 oz! The pediatrician wants her to have no empty calories until she starts putting on weight; meaning only milk to drink, and only baby food to eat. I guess that will fix my problem with the grandparents wanting to give her junk! She's so petite!
But she's flying through milestones, too! She's been sitting unsupported for a month now, and is creeping backwards. She "crawls" one "step" at a time. (She's still trying to figure those knees out). And she pulled up for the first time Sunday, just to her knees, but still really cool to watch. She peaked up at me as if to say, "Hey Mommy, I made it!" She was so proud of herself! The doctor was amazed at how independent and mobile she already is. Now if we could just get some weight on her!

Congratulations Anna!

Susan, I'm sorry to hear that Sam's having weight issues. That's my fear when I take Maddie to the doctor in a couple of weeks for her 6th month check up. I don't think she is much bigger than Sam.

So, Maddie is almost 6 months and she is rolling over. She doesn't sit up yet unsupported nor does she laugh without being tickled. I'm just a little concerned. Abby, my oldest, flew through milestones and was walking by 9 months. I guess I'll see what her doctor says.

Congrats to all the new moms to be on the board! In those early weeks it is so hard to believe you are pregnant. It felt so surreal to me until I started to feel Myers move at about 17 weeks

Susan and Melissa- I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one with a little peanut. Myers is now about 12 pounds at 15 weeks which is just about 10th percentile, and everyone keeps telling me about how their babies were 16 pounds or some crazy number at 3 months! He is holding his head up great and is always happy-smiling, laughing, and cooing. He tries to stand up when I hold him up.

He doesn't like tummy time though, so we probably don't do it quite as much as we should. He rolled over twice from tummy to back early on, but hasn't done it again because now he just cries through tummy time. He gets frustrated b/c he can't see anything! I try to show him how he can push up and see things by lifting him up, but he just gets mad.

I started back to work on Monday. The week went really smoothly. Myers did great at school, and I was able to peek in a visit a few times. He's so laid back and sweet that everyone at school is quickly falling in love with him! This is a crazy busy time for me at school so the next five weeks should fly by and then it will be summer!

Lacy- Your trip is just around the corner! Are you excited? Wait that was a dumb question, of course you are! Have you broken the news to your sis yet?

Melissa I had some of the same concerns with gavin. My doctor was very reassuring and explained that sometimes your younger child is so busy taking it all in that you become alarmed with your babies development. Emme was just like Abby flying through everything, but gavin like to just take it all in. Before we knew it he was off and excelling at everything. Hope all is well at your next appointment. Congrats to all these new mommies-to-be! I'll tell ya, I registered for lots of online "preggers" communities, but this was my fave, and the only one where I found friends that lasted beyond the 9 months. Obviously, I still love the MTB board on I'cot! :number1:

Melissa - When I told the nurse that Sam was sitting unsupported already, she didn't believe me. And when the doctor saw her doing it she said. "You're way too young to be doing that!" So I would say not to worry about Maddie still needing support in sitting. When's her appt.?

Kristin - Sammie hated tummy time until 4 months. We tried to force it, but I eventually got tired of making her cry. Then, all of a sudden at 4 months, she started lifting her head, rolled over at 4.5 months, and now loves to be on her tummy. Crazy kid! But give him a little while. Soon enough, he'll hate to be on his back. :)

Thank you ladies for the support. I'm sure I'm it's nothing. Her appointment is on the 29th, so I'll see what her dr. says. Her dr. is fabulous and is also Abby's dr. so she knows what Abby was like.

Maddie also hated tummy time. My dh would make her stay on her tummy for a few minutes at at time and would gradually just increase her time on her tummy. For example, he would put her on her tummy for 3 minutes 3 times a day, then the next day, bumped it to 5 minutes. Now, she's rolling all over the place. She still does her dolphin pose, (arms back, head and feet up, on her tummy) and gets really upset sometimes.

Hey ladies just wanted to drop in and say hi! Thing here have been a bit crazy.

My DH was injured at work last week so he has been out of work. Thank god he is not hurt badly he should be back at work within the next week. The only problem is that at his work you have to be out for 21 days before you can place a claim. So as you guessed he is out with no pay for the next week.

On a happier note Gavin got his first hair cut this weekend. He did as well as any 21 month old would do. We go some pictures so I will post them on FB as soon as I get a chance (if you would like to see them pm me and I’ll give you my info). Latter that day he was playing in the back yard and I found a tick on him (I almost has a heart attack). Once again we lucked out it was just crawling on him and had not bitten him yet so that was a close one.

I just got back from the doctors with Emme and she has a sinus infection so now she is on medication to help clear it up. I am starting to get the feeling when it rains it pours.

Thanks for letting me vent your all the best! Sorry the post is so long. Hope everyone is doing well and all you little ones are happy and healthy.

Thayre- I hope everything is going better now.

Melissa- Have you talked to the doctor yet? Please let us know what he/she said.

Lacy- we need details from your Disneyland trip. I am so jealous!!!

We had Myers' 4 month check-up today. He weighs 13 lbs and is 22 1/2 inches long. So he is kind of short and finally has a few rolls on his little legs. Then today after his appointment he rolled over three times! He has rolled over twice in the past, but both times really scared him! This time he seemed to mean to roll over. He is also pushing up a lot when he is on his tummy. He is finally liking tummy time!

He is being baptized this Sunday, and then we are having my parents, my in-laws, both sets of my grandparents, and two of George's sisters and their husbands over to our house for a Mother's Day lunch. Last Mother's Day, we made our big announcement about our pregnancy, and this year we get to celebrate the fact that we are dedicating his life to God. We are really excited to have so many family members getting together. We are also excited that Myers will be wearing the family baptismal gown (George's family) which is 105 years old. Before and after the service he will wear my brother's baptismal outfit-which is nice because my brother won't be able to be there since he is in Hawaii.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Lacy

Melissa ~ Any updates from the doctor.....I'm sure Maddie is just fine as I've been told they all progress differently and not to compare.

Kristin ~ Your baptism sounds like such a special occasion. I'm sure it will be wonderful! And I'm glad to hear Myers isn't minding the tummy time. I too didn't really push it much since Elias didn't seem to like it but not he won't stay on his back at all!

It seems like it has been awhile since I've been on here. So congrats to the new mommies.

We had a wonderful time on our trip to Disneyland last weekend! I was so glad that we went and it was so worth it just to have one day there and all the memories I will have of Elias' first Disney trip. He did wonderful on the airplane and seemed to enjoy it as there were lots of opportunities for him to "talk" to people. He seems to be a very social baby and I couldn't believe all the comments we got all weekend about what a cute and happy baby he is. We got a lot of attention at the park with DH's birthday button and Elias.

We took him on quite a few of the rides. Winnie the Pooh seemed to be his favorite! He also enjoyed the Tiki room and even got his first taste of Dole whip :secret:

We took my mom along and it was wonderful having grandma there for the first Disney memories plus it was nice to have an extra set of hands for the diaper changes. We didn't use the baby center at all because it was more convenient to just go to the nearest restroom and feed him while we ate.

Since it was such a short trip I didn't spend much time shopping so I don't have very many souvenirs from his first tip but we did manage to get him his personalized ears!

I know it's early but I want to wish you all a Very Happy Mothers Day!

Sorry I haven't updated everybody...

Maddie was 12lbs 15oz and 25 1/2 inches. She was in the 4th% for weight. Dr is a little concerned but not overly worried. I have to take her back in a month for a weight check. I also have to start being more agressive with the solid food. We started rice cereal at almost 5 months and I started with sweet potatoes for dinner with some cereal. I was doing new foods about every 7 days. She wants us to now feed her at least 2x a day with fruit, veggie, and cereal and cluster feed her before bed at night since I am still nursing. Right now, she is waking up 3-5 times at night so I'm getting little to no sleep. On Monday night, my husband fed Maddie a bottle and told me to go to bed, since I had only had about 2 hours sleep. That night she woke up a 2am, but slept the rest of the night. So...I'm really not sure what to do...Monday night I just balled my eyes out. I could tell she was hungry, but I had already fed her 4 times since I had been home from work, and I was empty...I know that nursing her is the best thing for her, but I can tell she needs more food. I am so sad and upset about this. I really don't know what to do. I should be happy that I was able to nurse as long as I have. With Abby, I only nursed about 3 months with some supplementing with formula. Maddie has been exclusivlly nursed for 6 months...that was my goal...but now I'm devistated at the prospect of stopping nursing. But I need sleep and she needs more food. My dh is leaving the decision up to me at this point, I just don't know...:crying:

Lacy - I'm so happy that you had a wonderful trip. It looks like you guys had so much fun! I can't wait to go in October.

Kristen - How exciting. We still need to get Maddie and Abby baptized. I think we will do it soon. We've been holding off since we want my dh's sister to be the god mother...which I don't think is going to happen now, since we can't afford to fly her down for it now. I don't know if we will find another god mother, or just have a god father, since we don't really need both.

Hi everyone!! I haven't posted in awhile but wanted to give you all an update. I think it's so amazing how fast time goes by. When I started the original Moms-to-be thread almost three years ago I was just pregnant with my first and now she's a big sister!! It's so crazy...

Anyway, Felicity is now 2 1/2 and starting to adjust to her new baby brother. He'll be 4 weeks old on Monday and I can tell is gaining weight quickly. He was almost 2lbs heavier at birth than DD and is growing so much every day! This week has been tiring and hectic - the baby doesn't really like to sleep in his cradle so I've been holding him at night. I really don't want to get him in that habit but after two hours of trying to get him to sleep on his own, I have to admit defeat so I can get some rest. I had four hours of sleep last night and I really can't continue on that. I want to stick with nursing for as long as possible but I'm just so tired! Somehow I thought being a mother of two would be easier than it has been the past couple of weeks.

My toddler is running around crazy all day - up at 5:30am, refusing to take her nap during the day and then crying at night because she doesn't want to go to sleep. She bounces off the wall during the day and tries to get my attention by throwing toys, coloring on the furniture and stripping off all her clothes. The long, crazy days are followed by long, sleepless nights with DS who wakes up to eat every couple of hours with each feeding taking at least 45 minutes. I've had a difficult time taking care of the two of them by myself because I haven't figured out yet how to choose who gets my attention first when they both need me. Then I feel guilty about not being able to be there for both at the same time...it's a vicious cycle! Any advice from you moms of more than one? How on earth did you survive the first few months? LOL

Mjaclyn- I'm sorry that I don't have any advice for you, but I am sending good thoughts and prayers your way!

january 2007- It is so amazing to hear that heartbeat for the first time! Just wait until you get to see the first ultrasound when you can make out features!

Myers baptism went wonderful. He was so well behaved and it was great to get all of the family together. There are pics on facebook if you haven't already seen them. We are also going to do professional photos in a week or two in the family baptismal gown before he outgrows it!

Last Sunday was George and I's 6 year wedding anniversary, so we left Myers with my parents overnight for the first time! We were both torn, but one of my friends at work urged me to and I am glad we did. My friend is a mom of three and told me that it would be hard that first time whether he was 4 months or 4 years old and that she and her husband wished they had allowed more alone time for themselves when their kids were younger. We left him on the condition that if we started missing him too much we could come down and spend the night ourselves. Well, we survived and he and my parents had a ball together! We were glad to pick him up on Sunday though!

School is out for summer. I have one post planning day on Tuesday which I will probably spend driving from the school to my house carting all of the stuff I had taken to school throughout the year. Next year I will have to be better about taking things home as I get done with them instead of waiting to do it all on one day!! I am so excited to have the summer off with Myers.

it was an active little one..it seemed it had a hiccup and then after that..forget about it..it just kept moving..i was totally mesmorized!!!..i cant wait for the next one in 2 months!! i had a test done to see about down syndrome and few other things..so ya they snuck bloodwork in on me..but i was ok..it wasnt bad..the doctor i saw this time was such a witch! she was very snobby and all the questions i asked she acted like i was a moron and should know this stuff!! hello..its my first kid..i know NOTHING!!! grr..next appointment i have to do the glucose test..yay more bloodwork..yuck..lol..i have to get it done early since so many people in both of our families are diabetic..

Another mommy to be here. DH and I just found out about a week ago that we are expecting baby #2 in January! It was a surprise, but we knew we wanted another so we weren't being very cautious. I have a 19 month old who will be 27 months when the baby arrives. We had a WDW trip planned for September and I will be 23 weeks. We are going ahead with the trip, but are canceling our Disney cruise for next May. It's worth it though. I have my 1st doctor appointment this week. Although I've done this all before I feel like I have forgotten everything already.

so what can i expect with this glucose test? what do they do? what happens?

meldan98
06-10-2009, 07:50 PM
There is a 1 hour test and a 3 hour test. Since this is your first test, it is probably the 1 hour test. Take a book to read. It gets really boring. When you get to the lab, they will give you a choice of several flavors for the glucose drink. My choices were limited to Orange or Lemon/Lime. I've heard some people get a choice of a Root Beer flavor. I've only had orange and it tastes like a very sweet version of orange soda. You have to drink the whole bottle, which is I think 8 - 12 oz. I'm not positive on the size of the drink. You then get to sit and wait. An hour after you drink it, you get your blood drawn. I usually got really gittery and felt my attention span dwindle. Imagine how you would feel after eating large bag of cotton candy and washing it down with a large soda.

My suggestion is, make sure you have lower carb, protien filled meals the day before and the day of your test and then be sure to eat a protien filled meal after your test. I didn't realize I was going to have test on one doctor visit, and had eaten a doughnut for breakfast that day and had to redo the test. The drink from test also gave me a headache. A friend of mine always gets the shakes and gets a little sick to her stomach.

After reading through this, it really isn't that bad. Honest!!!

Georgesgirl1
06-10-2009, 08:58 PM
My glucose test went differently than what many of my friends have experienced. My doctor's office sent the drink home and I drank it before I went to the doctor. I was not able to eat before the test. If this is what they tell you, bring something to eat after the test because you will probably shaky and really hungry. I didn't get a choice of drink (they gave me the orange flavor). The drink was okay, not something I would choose to drink, but not bad. I was told to only drink half of the container. I went at 8 am and they took my blood and then it was over. My plan was to not eat a lot of starchy food the day before, but I ended up eating pancakes the morning before! I got immediate results on my test, but a lot of people I know had to wait for their results for several days.

thank you..
i was sent home with the drink from my last doctors visit with them..they said i have to drink it an hour before my appointment..i have fruit punch flavor..hopefully it wont be to bad!
ill be sure to have some kind of food with me incase i feel i need to eat something..
my doctors told me i can eat and drink whatever up until the time i have to drink that stuff..
thank for the advice!! im not so scared now..

but what is the point of shocking your body with so much sugar?

Just a quick update. Hallie just had her 2 month check up this week. She is now 22 1/4 inches long and weighs 10 lbs. 11 oz. Everything was good. She is still nursing, but sometimes I don't know how much longer I cn keep it up. It's difficult sometimes with everybody else's schedule. She had her 1st one day visit to WDW in May at 5 weeks. We picked up DD#1 at college nearby and stayed a night and went to Epcot the next day. She slept through most of it, lol!

I just found this thread, & I must say that I am enjoying the experiences, joys & encouragement that I have been reading about. I hope you don't mind me posting, I am a new grandmother, and babies have become, once again a facination for me. I am pasting in the account of the birth of our grandson, from his fathers (our son) point of view. You might find it interesting. Here goes:

The doctor told us that Adriane was due on February 20th. However, babies can come a couple weeks early or a couple weeks late. February 20th came and went and she had never even felt a contraction. Her next weekly appointment with her baby doctor was scheduled for Tuesday, February 24th.

Adriane had been sick for the last couple weeks and had a 'clogged' or 'popped' ear that wouldn't go away. On the morning of Monday, February 23rd Adriane made an appointment with her regular doctor to have it checked out. The appointment was for 11:00 a.m.

While at the appointment with her doctor she could find nothing wrong with her ear but told her that her blood pressure was high and that she should go see her baby doctor immediately. We drove to Sutter Roseville and met with her baby doctor. He checked her blood pressure and it had gone up.

Baby doctor said that we should meet him at the delivery clinic so he could get Adriane "hooked up and see what's going on" and "maybe do an ultra-sound". We drove to the delivery clinic building next door.

We were led to a room which is used for women going into labor. A nurse checked Adriane's blood pressure and it had gone up even more. Also, she was hooked up to something that measured contractions. Adriane was having them even though she could not feel them. The contractions were roughly 1 minute 45 seconds apart. Normally, you go to the hospital when contractions are 5 minutes apart.

A monitor was attached to Adriane's belly to hear the baby's heart beat. A babies heartbeat is roughly twice that of you or I. A speaker played our baby's heartbeat and it had the rhythm and bass of a rap beat. Adriane and I joked around and moved to the beat smiling and laughing.

The doctor arrived and checked everything. He said that she was probably going to have the baby today or tomorrow and he wanted to monitor her for a while to see what was doing. He left the room.

We sat in the room excited at the thought that baby could be coming soon. And then the sound of the heartbeat stopped. A nurse ran into the room. She began to adjust the monitor on Adriane's belly trying to find the heartbeat. "Where did you move to?" she asked Adriane's belly as she moved the monitor from left to right, up and down. After a few moments she found the heartbeat again.

We sat and waited patiently for the doctor to return. Then, an alarming sound of beeping started. Several nurses came rushing into the room in a panic. Baby's heartbeat was slowing down! The doctor ran into the room and checked the monitors and said "We're going to do an emergency C-section right now"!!

Male and female nurses grabbed the bed Adriane was sitting in and rushed it down the hall. I followed. Doctor was yelling orders to the different nurses along the way. They pushed her into a room and insisted I wait outside.

I began to text our family and friends to let them know what was going on. My mom texted back "are you kidding". (I guess I have a reputation for bad jokes that only I think are funny) I assured her this was not a joke..

A nurse gave me some scrubs and told me to put them on and they'd let me in the room very soon. I rushed to put the scrubs on, flustered and unbalanced almost falling when putting the pants on. A nurse came out of the room telling another nurse something about "hypertension" and "high stress levels" referring to Adriane. Then, someone told me I could come in the room.

I walked into the room and Adriane was laying down on an operating table with a sheet pulled up into the air at her chest. The room was chaos. Doctors and nurses rushing around yelling information and orders to one another. A nurse pulled a chair up and I sat next to Adriane's head. Her face looked like a combination of fear, nausea and borderline about to faint. I lightly caressed the top of her head and told her to breathe, (she has a bad habit of tensing up and holding her breath when stressed). I tried to relax her; "Everything's going to be okay you just have to relax and breathe. Everything's going to be fine."

The sound of a baby crying permeated the air. I looked to my left and nurses rushed a purple baby to a nearby table. It was 1:22 p.m. The moment I heard the crying, an indescribable feeling washed over me. It was like a combination of several emotions mixed with new ones I'd never had before. I really cannot attempt to describe it. Those of you with kids know what I'm talking about.

I watched my son with fascination as he very quickly began to change color as the nurses cleaned him and did whatever they were doing. Adriane said she couldn't feel her hands and thought she was going to be sick. A nurse handed me a circular pink container to hold next to Adriane's face. She heaved but nothing came.

A nurse brought Otto (the name we had chosen) to his mother She held him next to her face and Adriane got a very quick glimpse of him before they said they had to move him to another room. The nurse asked if I was going to stay with mom or go with baby. I asked Adriane if she wanted me to stay with her and she told me to go with them. I did.

As I followed the nurses and Otto to another room they explained to me that Otto had meconium in his lungs. Meconium is the babies first feces or poop which is sticky, thick and dark green. Sometimes a baby inhales meconium with amniotic fluid and that can block airways. Not a good thing. The more inhaled the more serious the condition.

Otto was coughing which they said was good. As he coughed the meconium out of his lungs the nurses would **** the meconium out of his mouth. They hooked up an oxygen tube to his nose to ensure he was getting enough.

Otto didn't like the oxygen tube and reached up, gripped it with his little hand and pulled it out. I reattached it. Otto pulled it out again and I reattached it again. I told the nurses what he was doing and they said an infant wasn't capable of doing that. And then he did it again.

He weighed in at 7 pound 4 oz. and was 18 inches long.

They decided to take him to intensive care. I was told not to worry... that everything seemed okay but they wanted to keep a close eye on him just be sure.

Adriane was taken to an area for special care of C-section moms which was a floor above infant intensive care. She wanted to see Otto so bad but was not able to. She had to stay where she was and he had to stay where he was. I bounced back and forth between the two rooms bringing Adriane photos and showing her videos of her son which brought her to tears every time.

After 23 hours of monitoring, Otto he was finally brought into his mother's room to be with her. And there was much rejoicing!

Our "Mighty Mousekeeter" (Mighty for short) is doing great. He learned to rollover last week & is coming over to brighten my day this afternoon. Adrian on the otherhand, is still dealing with high blood pressure. It has been 3 1/2 months now and she has been on some low dose meds, yet she isn't improving like they would like to see. She is 33 years old and slinder (maybe size 4 or 6, small boned). She works full time running two salon/day spas in our local area. So, I imagine the stress is high. Has anyone had experiences like this? Any success in regulating the bp without lots of chemistry??

nicster- Thanks for sharing about your grandbaby. Sounds like you are head over heels in love!

Today Myers and I went to Stone Mountain (a sort of amusement park) for a "trial" run of WDW. We went to a 4-D movie, rode on the train, waited in lines, and watched some shows. He did really well with everything. I was afraid that the heat would get to both of us, but we stayed in the shade when possible and made sure that Myers was sunscreened up-although I forgot to put enough sunscreen on my shoulders and I am sunburned:oops:

Myers is now sitting on his own and we just started rice cereal a few days ago. He is growing up so fast!

but what is the point of shocking your body with so much sugar?

They're doing a pre-screening for gestational diabetes. Sometimes women who are not diabetic develop diabetes when pregnant and it can be dangerous if it goes untreated. If you don't pass the initial glucose test you'll do another more extensive screening to test for gestational diabetes.

Nicster- Congrats on the new grandbaby! Sounds like he had an eventful arrival. I'm glad it all turned out okay!

Beach Club Babe- Glad baby's 1st WDW trip went well. I guess vacationing with a newborn may be easier than vacationing with a toddler. :)

Georgesgirl1-Sounds like your "trail run" was a success. We took DS for his 1st WDW trip at 12 months and it was such a fun experience. Guess we're going to have to do baby's 1st birthday in WDW for #2 to be fair. :mickey:

I've been toughing out the nausea and I finally found something that seems to help. Seabands and sour candy. Hopefully I won't be one of those unlucky people cursed with nausea for the whole pregnancy. :fingers:

i know why they test...
i just dont get why the only way to tell if i may have gestational diabetes is to shock my body with an overload of sugar! theres gotta be a better/different way..i have to much sugar..like any normal person..your tummy tends to not feel all that great!
so not looking forward to next tuesday!

Brittany- Also have wondered why it would be a good idea to give someone who may have gestational diabetes a ton of sugar. My friend failed her first test and was told to eat full candy bars and ice cream several times a day before her 3 hour test! Crazy huh? (I have never had any other friends whose doctors told them this before the 3 hour test, so I think her doctor may have been a little crazy in the first place) Then they determined that she did in fact have gestational diabetes and they told her she couldn't have ANY refined sugar for the rest of her pregnancy! You would think they would have come up with a better way by now!

I guess it does seem counter intuitive, but I don't know how you would test someone's ability to process glucose unless you gave them some glucose to process and then measured. It doesn't create nausea for everyone so maybe you'll be lucky. It didn't bother me at all.

well i went for my glucose test last tuesday!
and they said they would only call if it was bad news..so far no call on that so we are doing good! the drink itself wasnt too bad..just a bad after taste after each sip...they had a hard time finding a vein to get blood..took them almost 15 minutes to find one..but thank god they finally did get it!
i had such a nice doctor this time..what a difference from last visit! for this visit my mom came with me (hubby just started a job and didnt wanna leave early)..she came bascially since i need someones hand to hold while giving blood..we then got to hear the heart beat..as soon as the doctor found it..i got a huge smile on my face..she kept losing it though..the baby just didnt wanna stay still! lol..and when i sat back up my mom had tears in her eyes...
and just yesterday i got a call from my doctor saying the test that checks for down symdrome and all those other things all came back negative..so im carrying a healthy baby!!! :D
we go back on july 22nd for our second ultrasound and to find out the sex of the baby!!! i am so excited!!!!!!!!!!! :mickey:

PJ update!

He is now 18 months old, and is TALL! I forget most the time that he is not 3, but still a baby. He has such a personality. He is extremly smart and knows how to control situations. Lately he has been climbing on tables, counters, and anything else. He also can't stand his 10 y/o brother. He yells at him, points at him and says "no Ga Up" (10 y/o name is Jacob) and in a stern voice "Bugabugabukabuka" (which I have no idea what it means) He will scream or sometimes just walk up and bite and hit Jacob for no reason. Jacob provoks him a lot but sometimes it is unprovoked. Pj will even hit and tackle Jacob!

He's supposed to start Daycare soon but I'm afraid they will expell him his first day!

It's been a while, but here's an update on Samantha (better known as Sammie).

She just turned 9 months old and weighs just over 14 pounds. She's acquired many nicknames of "shorty" or "itty bitty" and so forth. Too me, she's just my petite princess, although I can already tell she's going to be a tomboy. She sings when she's outside. DH and I hike often and she loves to be in the woods, even when it's raining! No girlie-girl here. She's trying to walk; been pulling up and taking steps while holding onto things for a few weeks now. And she finally said something somewhat intelligible:"Daggy" is her way of saying "Daddy", although she still won't say it on command (she's been saying "Ma-ma-ma" for a while now, only when she wants something) I'm still nursing, and she's eating everything in sight. She still has no teeth, but she eats everything that can be mushed. She loves cheese! and begs for coke, although I often trick her with bottled water. All she wants is a sip from the bottle. Speaking of, she hasn't drank from a baby bottle since February, when she started resisting them. And she doesn't quite seem to understand that she must **** on a sippy cup; she just chews on it. She'll drink from a regular cup without a lid, but nothing else (other than the breast). Have any of you experienced this problem? School starts back in 4 weeks, and I've got to do something. I can't go nurse her at lunch. What do I do?

January 2007- Congrats on the boy. Boys are great!

Brittany- I'm glad all your test results came back with good results.

Diz-girl- Welcome back and congrats!

Susan- Could Sammie just drink milk from a cup when school starts back? I have heard of some people who skip bottles altogether and just introduce a cup when baby is around 6 months old and serve BM in the cup when needed. I don't know if her sitter would be okay with that, but it's worth a shot.

Myers is 6 months old now, and as of this morning he was about 16.5 pounds (before eating anything), but he is a shorty at only about 25 inches (5th percentile). His 6 month appointment is tomorrow, so I have to get ready for the shots he will get which are always harder for me than they are for him! We have started some solids. His favorites seem to be carrots and oatmeal.

We will arrive in WDW in 12 days 14 hours and 38 minutes according to my Intercot countdown! Can't wait.

Brittany - I'm so happy to hear the test results came back well.

Diz-girl - Congratulations!

Susan - Have you tried a Nub sippy cup? They are very similar to bottles. With my ODD, we used those to teach her how to use a sippy cup, then switched over to a different sippy cup once she figured out the concept.

Kristin - Myers sounds like he is doing great. Have a fabulous time at WDW.

Madeline is doing well. She is a little over 8 months old and is almost 15 lbs. She a little one too. Now that she is on formula while I'm at work, she is finally starting to fill in a little. She still fits into to 3-6 month clothes, although I've been putting her in the bigger clothes because I just don't have that much in the 3-6 month range for hot weather. I just talked with my DH this morning and he wants to start planning our trip to DL in October. Yeah!!! My DH and I also talked and I'm going to the D23 Expo in September with my girlfriend and her DH. I am super excited about it, and a little sad that I'll be going without the family. I will be getting an annual pass for the first time, so that will be very neat.

Lizzy - to you! The first day at daycare is always hard. The little ones do grow up quick.

Well, it's official...Madeline is crawling and saying mama and dada and even hi dada. Several people have claimed that they have heard her say mama and dada before, but I finally heard it with my own ears yesterday...so I guess it will be going in the baby book now. I also saw her crawl for the first time yesterday, so that's also going in the baby book. I told my dh last night that it's not offical until I see it with my own eyes...is that weird? He just laughed at me.

Lizzy

That's not weird at all Melissa, because when your baby grows up you are going to be the one to remember all this anyway, so unless someone tapes it for you, it didn't happen!

My older son who is now 10 was with babysitters for all his firsts (words, walking, rolling over, crawling, etc) and they always made it a point to tell me about it. I wish they had just kept quiet about it and let me think I saw it first!

so i went to the doctors yesterday..
we were suppose to find out the sex of the baby..
but they said it wasnt coroporating..
they also said the baby was alittle small..but at 20 weeks its weighing in at 14oz (20wk baby should be between 10-11oz) i dont get how that is small..so i guess its small in actual size..
also the fluid was a bit low..
so im going to the hospital next thursday to have an ultrasound done there..since they have waaaay better equipment..
doctor also said they wanted to check some other things out..during the ultrasound..whatever that means..
she said there was no need to worry right now..she said if she felt there was a problem she would let us know..but again to try to not worry..
me and my hubby feel as thought the nurse who did the ultrasound wasnt that great! when we went for the 12 week ultrasound that nurse was awesome you saw the baby so clearly...but now with this one..you could barely make anything out..and its bigger you figured we'd be able to see it even better! we just dont get it!
so we are hoping everything is fine..im trying to stay positive and not worry...1 week to go!

Brittany - don't worry too much until they give you a definite answer. Ultrasounds are notorious for being wrong. Two weeks before I delivered, they told me that Sammie was already over 8 lbs, so I expected a big baby (I am a diabetic after all). She was born, 2 weeks later, at 6 lbs and 11 oz. So don't worry too much. It's really hard to get exact measurements when the baby is all folded up anyhow.

Speaking of Sammie, I took her for her 9 month check-up on Monday. She weighed 15 lbs 6 oz and was 28 in long. I've been nursing her all along, but school starts back in two weeks, and I really don't want to lug my pump back and forth for one feeding a day. So after talking to the doctor about it, we decided that it would be in the best interest of Sammie (to fatten her up) and myself (to begin the weaning process) to give her formula for that one feeding. It will be less than 2 months that she gets it, and only for one feeding a day, so I don't feel too horrible. I didn't want to give her any, but it's just too stressful to pump at school. (I don't get a break between 7:45 and 12:35). I'll still be nursing at all the other feedings, so she'll still get the "good stuff".
On the other hand, even though she's small, she amazed the nurses and doctors with her strength, agility, and balance. Her doctor even said she might just be a gymnast, since she's so small, but so incredibly balanced. We'll see... her daddy wants her to play football. :D
I've been so emotional lately; I'd swear I was pregnant, if I didn't know better. I start in-service in 11 days and still don't have a babysitter for sure. Everyone wants me to pay for the whole year, when I only need school days. I asked a friend yesterday (a SAHM, who has a 12 month old and a 3 year old) and she said she'd like to, but she'd have to talk to her DH... so I'm waiting... not so patiently. I wish, I wish, I wish I could stay at home. But our finances just won't allow it. Maybe with the next one... Sammie's b-day is 20 hours past the cut-off to enter kindergarten in TN, so it'll be 5 more years before she can go to school anyhow.

Brittany - Don't get to concerned about the ultrasound. When I had my 20 week ultrasound the tech was a man and was rough and didn't seem all that thourough. He just kind of rushed through all of the measurements. When he first started, I lifted my head a bit to get a better view and he actually got gruff with me that the ultrasound was for testing purposes and once he was done with what he needed to do, then we could look. I ended up with a bruise on my tummy from him pushing so hard. The day after the ultrasound, some of the results weren't what the dr wanted to see. She said that baby was to small and that my fluid was really low. I had to go back to do another ultrasound and things turned out good. My fluid was still a little low, but it had been 110 for a couple of weeks, so they just had me increase my water intake. Within a couple of days, everything was fine. Hang it there. I'm sure things will be fine. I second Susan in saying that they could be really wrong on the size. When I had my 2nd, the doctor thought she was going to be over 8lbs, well, Maddie was only 6lbs 8oz.

Susan - At a little over 7 months, I switched Maddie to formula when I wasn't going to be with her, because, she too just wasn't getting very big. She was still wearing 3-6 and she still had room to grow in them. It was a hard decision to make, but I knew I just wouldn't be able to continue pumping enough for her. She was wanting 6oz in a bottle, but I could only pump about 3-4oz at a time. My dh would give her 2-3 bottles while I was gone, and there was no way I could keep up with that. You need to do what is best for Sammie and for yourself. Pumping is stressful and the more stressed you are the less successful you will be. I hope that your babysitter situation works out for you. I'm really suprised that some of the daycare options are making you sign up for a year. That's crazy. You may want to ask some of your fellow teachers for a referral. Hang in there...it will all work out!

Georgesgirl1
07-26-2009, 06:10 PM
Brittany- I wouldn't worry if your doctor told you not to. As the other girls said, ultrasounds are notoriously inaccurate. I don't think I know one person for whom an ultrasound weight estimate was even close. According to my last ultrasound Myers should have been at least 7 and a half pounds when he was born, but he was only 6 lbs. 7 oz.

Susan- I think you will feel so my much less stressed when you aren't pumping at work. So many kids are stictly formula fed from day one and are healthy, happy, intelligent kids. You have given Sammie a great start and you shouldn't feel guilty about giving her one or two bottles of formula a day. Myers is now getting only formula and he is just as happy and healthy as he was when he was getting only breastmilk. I hope the babysitter situation works out. It is difficult for teachers in day care situations because schools can't hold a spot for a baby all summer if the parents aren't paying. One thing you could try is starting a day care now and then give a two week notice (or whatever the school requires) and pulling Sammie out in the summer. They may not have a spot for her when school starts back next fall, but you wouldn't have to pay for the summer months when she wasn't there. It may be difficult to start a new school in the fall though. By the way, most schools near us only require teacher's kids to continue year round until they are out of the toddler years. That is because class sizes can be larger at that age so the waiting lists aren't as long.

We just got home from Walt Disney World yesterday. We had so much fun and Myers did great on all the rides and with the characters. The baby centers were great and I highly recommend using them when y'all go. I posted pictures on facebook if you want to see them. If you aren't my friend on facebook already, private message me and I will give you my information so you can see them.

It seems like it has been forever since I've posted but I've read periodically. I can't believe how much fun it is being a mom and just feel very blessed!

Susan ~ Don't feel guilty at all about not pumping when you go back to work. I think you've done amazing making it work this long! Good luck with the daycare....I don't know why it has to be so complicated. We currently have Elias on a waiting list for a toddler room for 2 or 3 days per week. He is currently number 44 so who knows when he will get in. I am glad that my care situation is flexible with my mom.

Kristin ~ I'm glad that you guys had a great trip. Are you going to post a trip report in all your free time before school starts? ;) I don't think free time exists with a baby.

Does anyone have any advice for getting a 10 month old to take naps in the crib without having to be rocked? Even when Elias is really tired he starts to move around and pull himself up and just won't settle down.

dh and i were blessed with our first baby on june 20th! we always dreamed of taking our little guy to disney alot, starting at 7 mo (our usual january trip). little guy just turned 1 month and i can barely leave the house! how will i ever get him to disney? for those of you with kids, please tell me it gets better. between the nursing, colic, and reflux i am at my wit's end. how will we ever get to travel with him? i'm feeling awfully depressed about not being able to bring him to disney. how can i if he cries all the time and is so miserable?

please...will it get better?

Dumbo Buddy- Congrats! I know it feels very overwhelming the first weeks, but it does get better. I rarely even took a shower most days until Myers was at least 6 weeks old. I felt like I had really acomplished a lot if Myers and I both made it out our PJs and into real clothes! I don't think I cooked one real meal until Myers was 2 months old! For most babies, colic goes away around 6-8 weeks I think, so you are almost there. I was unsuccessful with nursing, but babies do become more efficient as time goes by and you will no longer be nursing for marathon sessions. Don't give up on taking your little one to Disney just yet. You will be amazed at the difference between your little guy now and just a few short months from now. He will most likely grow out the things you are talking about way before 7 months and you will also better know his cues and how to soothe him. We just took Myers for his first trip last week at 6 and a half months old and he did great. It can be done.

Speaking of little ones at Disney, I met two families at WDW with babies under 1 month old! One baby was 7 days old. Now I am a huge Disney fan, but I told my husband that the day I wanted to take a 7 day old to WDW was the day he needed to do a Disney intervention!!!

It will get better and you will get to Disney. Hallie will be 4 months on the 6th. She has already been to Disney for a one day trip to Epcot at 5 weeks, and now in two days she will get to spend a week there. It will be a little challenging, but we will manage. Another one of our DD's was 7 1/2 months on her 1st visit, she did great! Give it some time and you'll see everything will be just fine!

P.S. this is my 5th baby!

ugh...so we went to the hospital yesterday for a better ultrasound..
and this pregnancy is getting less joyous everytime i get one..
the baby was facing down..so they really couldnt see much..so we still dont know what we are having..
the only thing they could tell us was that they confirmed what my doctor said..my fluid is low..
i asked if the baby is at least ok..he said the bladder and kidneys look good so thats a good sign..thats the answer i got...so i guess its not that bad...
but ugh..me and my hubby are scared..and sick of no one talking to us!
im waiting untili monday to call my doctor since they should have the results of the ultrasound by then..and i soooo wanna speak to my doctor!!!
we go back to the hospital for another ultrasound on Aug 13th..

DumboBaby ~ Congrats and yes it does get much easier. The first few weeks/months are really rough but by 7 months you will notice a BIG difference and I'm confident that he'll do great at WDW. I think that is the perfect time for a first trip because it is before they are too mobile and want to crawl around all the time.

Brittany ~ Sorry to hear that the results weren't better. I understand that it is scary. I had to do multiple extra ultrasounds because Elias' kidneys were too large and I never felt like I knew what they were doing or why. My advice (as hard as it is) is to not worry about it but talk to your doc to try to find out everything you can. But worrying won't help you or the little one. Hang in there!

dh and i were blessed with our first baby on june 20th! we always dreamed of taking our little guy to disney alot, starting at 7 mo (our usual january trip). little guy just turned 1 month and i can barely leave the house! how will i ever get him to disney? for those of you with kids, please tell me it gets better. between the nursing, colic, and reflux i am at my wit's end. how will we ever get to travel with him? i'm feeling awfully depressed about not being able to bring him to disney. how can i if he cries all the time and is so miserable?

please...will it get better?
I can COMPLETELY relate to how you are feeling. While pregnant with my second daughter we decided to take a trip to WDW when the baby was 9 months old. Well she was born in March and after 3 weeks I was just about ready to cancel our trip plans!! I thought there was NOOOO way I could bring this baby on a trip like that!!! And this was my second child, and I forgot how hard it was that first 2 months! But you know what, it does get better!! I came here to Intercot (when she would sleep ;)) and read everything I could about taking a baby to Disney and it made me feel sooo much better. DD is now 4 1/2 months and I would take her tomorrow! Granted she's a very happy, easy going baby but I know now that it will be okay!!
Hang in there! And get lots of rest when you can!! :)

thanks everyone for your sweet sweet responses. i'm glad that i'm not the only one who dealt with this. i love my little guy but i can't really take him anywhere longer than an hour or so b/c of the nursing. he is only 7lb10oz now (born 5lb12oz) so i need lots of pillows and stuff to feed him (he is so small and my bbs are so big it is very difficult). but, sooner or later i'm sure it'll be easier - probably when he's bigger and it's not such a chore to latch him. and who knows, maybe by 7 months when we go to disney he'll be just on the bottle. we'll see.

it's HARD WORK being a first time mom! shoo!

Dumbo Buddy- These are some of the tips that we used that made things easier.

-We went in to the parks early and then went back to the resort for a long break after lunch. That allowed Myers to take a long nap in a pack and play vs. sleeping in the stroller. It also gave him time to roll around on the floor and play. Then we went back into the park for the evening. This break was even more important for us b/c of the heat in mid-July.

-We used the baby care centers a lot. Not only were they a great place to change diapers, they also allowed us to get out of the crowds. If you are still nursing at that point, they have nursing rooms. If you aren't, they have facilities to warm bottles or baby food if needed. They always have a Disney movie playing. We also enjoyed talking to other parents, and one day at the Animal Kingdom, Myers even made friends with a little girl who was a month older than him. They sat and laughed at each other and shared toys!

-Don't expect to do everything or even a lot of stuff. Of course you will be there during a less crowded time of year, so lines won't be as long. We did all of the Fantasyland stuff (of course), Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Carousel of Progress, Buzz, Monsters Inc, Mickey and Minnie's House, and the Tiki room at the Magic Kingdom. The rest of the stuff we skipped. We did less at Epcot, AK, and DHS. It wasn't a big deal for us, since we know we will be back next year. Take it slow and you will enjoy it more.

-If your son will take a pacifier, take it to Disney. I plan to wean Myers from his soon, but wanted to have it available at WDW. At home, he only gets it when he is going to sleep, but at Disney we did use it a few times.

- Start with easy rides to see what your son can handle. We started with Dumbo and It's a Small World, then gradually advanced to rides with louder noises until we got to things like Pirates and Haunted Mansion. At that age, they don't know what's scary as far as images go, but the noises and darkness can be scary to some babies. Myers loved all the rides, but cried a little when we went through the smoke in the Alien scene in The Great Movie Ride.

-Another thing that helped, is that we shared a two bedroom at Saratoga Springs with my parents. It was nice to have a full kitchen and dishwasher (but not neccessary). It also allowed us to go out to dinner one night, just DH and I. Again, nice, but we would have survived without it.

I did a trip report on my blog, if anyone wants to see it. http://mccownivfamily.blogspot.com/

so i spoke with a doctor yesterday from my obgyn group..
my fluids arent really low..they are just on the low end of normal..so i dont have to really worry..she said i was fine..
and from what she sees from the rest of the results of the ultrasound the baby looks good..everything is growing great and looking good..
just with the way the baby was laying..they couldnt really see the abdominal cavitity..the arms and legs..all of the spine and what the sex is..
im so glad i got to talk to someone..and they actually told me what was going on..
we go back on the 13th for another ultrasound...
hopefully 3rd times a charm!!! :)

Brittany - I'm so glad things on the ultrasound are okay. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you on the next ultrasound. Sometimes the little ones are just a little shy. My odd didn't wany anybody to hear her heartbeat. Every time I went to the dr up until the 32 week appointment, I had to have an ultrasound because my dr couldn't find the heart beat. The first 2 or 3 times it happen, it scared me, but after that, it just became a running joke.

DizNee143
08-14-2009, 01:47 PM
so we went back for another ultrasound..
they were able to see pretty much everything they couldnt see 2 weeks ago..
they still werent too sure about the sex of the baby..the nurse and the doctor both said they were guessing girl..but since the babys legs were slightly crossed..they couldnt make a definite decision..
but they said everything looked good! so we were very happy to hear that..they just couldnt make out all the fingers and toes..but said not to worry..(and truthfully im not..my hubbys cousin only has 8 fingers and is living a prefectly great life!)..
and the big kicker was..he said my fluids were fine..since my hubby asked about them..the doctor was like is there a concern?..we were like..they put use through heck for almost 2 weeks..saying it was low..so he went back and said they look fine..not even on the low end of normal..so i guess all is good there again!!
next thursday (20th) i go to the doctors for my 24 week check-up...then after that im going to this place called View a Miracle..to get an ultrasound done there so they can give me a more definite answer on the sex of the baby..my mom and mother-in-law will be coming with me for both things..so it should be a fun girls day out!! i cant wait..

Brittany, glad everything looks good with your ultasounds. Lots of what you describe happened to me. Everything will eventually show up.

Hallie had her 1st "real" trip to WDW Aug, 1 through 10th. I say real because of the one day she had in Epcot when she was 5 weeks. Much more alert for this trip and pretty much enjoyed herself.

When we got back she had her 4 month check up and everything was great. She is now 14.4 lbs. and 24 inches long. She is still nursing, but she takes a little bit of rice cereal once a day, though she'll probably start on 2 times a day soon.

Wow, this thread is a lot slower than it was last year. At this time last year we were on page 4o something I think! I guess most of us are now busy chasing around our little ones and don't have as much time to spend of intercot!

Brittany- Congrats!

Dumbo Buddy- We gave the paci to Myers when he got restless or noisy. He can be quite the babbler and squealer when excited which is great at home, but not great during a show or ride. We used the Ipo Graco Stroller for our trip. It is an umbrella stroller, so it is fairly light, small, and easy to fold down, but it is more comfortable and reclines farther than most of the umbrella strollers we looked at. We took our Baby Bjorn, but I am now looking into an Ergo Baby Carrier for Myers which is supposed to be more comfortable and can be used to a higher weight.

Well we had a little scare a few weeks ago and I ended up spending the afternoon in the hospital with DH. Our little one is excited to meet us and apparently I was having contractions. I've been on bed rest for the last week and a half but I am back to work now as of yesterday. I'm 35 weeks and my shower is this weekend. My friend is having her baby this week. It's all getting so close!

I thought I'd pop in for a minute. Congrats to those of you who are in the countdown stages... such a blessing awaits you!

I'm back at work after being off for 4 days. My Sammie had/has swine flu. We were quarantined until she'd been fever free for 24 hours. It wasn't as bad or scary as the media made it out to be, but then again, I did as recommended, and took her to the dr. at the first sign of symptoms. Of course, that was her waking me up with a fever of 103. By the time we got to the pediatrician that afternoon, it was 104.7! That was a little scary, but as soon as the fever came down, she perked back up. They were amazed at how social she still was with that high of a fever... my girl's a tough one, though. Never been just "sick"... She had no symptoms, then boom, pnuemonia within hours of the first cough, at 4 months. No symptoms, then boom, swine flu within hours of the first sign of fever. The nurse said, "When she's older, and she says she's sick, believe her!"
At least she's over it now, and in plenty of time to head to Disney next week for her birthday! I can't wait!

went to the doctors yesterday..had the not so nice doctor again..my mom came with me just so i wouldnt have to deal with her alone since the hubby couldnt make it to this appointment..

she said i have consistently been measuring big..so they may want to do an ultrasound again soon..to see the size of the baby..the heartbeat this time was soo much stronger than all the other times..that was good..

my glucose test came back fine..but with that..they saw i was slightly anemic..so im on iron pills every other day...

i go back in another two weeks..we'll see what happens then..

i go this tuesday to get my 3d/4d ultrasound..we are so excited..i cant wait to see what she looks like!!

and then next weekend we have out birthing class!!!

im getting so excited..but im still more scared and nervous about it all..its all happening so fast!

Ever have one of those weeks where you just feel like the world's worst mom?

Well, it started last week when my Boyfriend and I were discussing my 10 year old and the reasons he is overweight. While there was no direct finger pointing, my boyfriend did enlighten me to the fact that I rarely ever cook, and when I do it is not nutritious. The other day, my 21month old brought me a beer bottle cap, a battery (that was in his mouth) and one other object that he shouldn't have had, that I can't remember at the moment.

We wrestle and horseplay around a lot and the baby has learned how to play with the big boys (my older son) well I took him to the next day, and they informed me that they had to keep the baby in timeout because he was being very rough with the other students. Teacher asks me "Do you ever take him around other kids?" I was like no, that's why I brought him here. Then she said that I should take him to the liberary on weekends. So I had to tell her that I work 2 jobs and have no days free to take him to the liberary.

I cried I felt like a child neglector!

Then, this morning the baby dumped his cereal all over the floor, I stepped in it and cursed and then my baby repeated very clearly what I just said.

Ugh, what a week

Beach Club Babe
10-07-2009, 01:12 PM
Wow that's a rough week, Lizzy! Don't worry, you're not a bad mom! Probably all of us at some point, have wrestled with some, most, or all of those things. You'll get through and more importantly so will your kids! Everybody makes mistakes or feels they don't have enough time to spend with your kids, but I've learned with 5 kids ages 6 months to 21 everything works itself out and they grow up just fine!

Update on Hallie, she had her 6 month check up yesterday. I can hardly believe it's already 6 months. She weighed 16 lbs 8 oz and was 27 inches long! She is still nursing and has been on fruit and cereal and is now going to start vegetables. She already has two teeth, and I'm sure she'll start crawling any day, she's almost there!

Georgesgirl1

Lizzy- I'm sorry you had such a tough week. Don't beat yourself up. We all have times when we feel like we aren't great mothers, but we love our kids and we do the best we can to give them what they need and that's all we can do.

Heather- Sounds like Hallie is doing great. She is so tall!

Lacy- I can't believe Elias is 1. It seems like just yesterday you called to tell me you were expecting!

Susan- I am so sorry that Sam had the swine flu, but I'm glad she is feeling better now. I've heard from several people who have had it that say it isn't as bad as it is being made out to be.

Brittany and Jan-2007- Y'all are getting so close! You are going to love being a mommy.

Myers had his 9 month appointment last week. he is 19lbs 11oz and 26 inches long. He is such a shorty still! He is doing great though- crawling up a storm, pulling up, starting to "cruise" along the furniture, and eating all types of finger food.

Hi everyone...boy it's been a busy few months. I hope that all of babies on the way are doing well. I can't believe it has been almost a year since we were all on the board talking about how we were counting down the days until delivery.

We just went to the pumpkin patch yesterday and picked out a couple of pumpkins and I ordered the birthday party invites yesterday. I can't believe Maddie will be one in a couple of weeks.

I saw someone mention the Ergo baby carrier. I've had one since Maddie was born and I love it. I've used it in the tiny infant position, front carrier and the backpack and I love it. So does Maddie. The hip position so far was the most uncomfortable. I think I must have done it wrong though. I would highly recommend it.

well another doctors visit down..
i just got weighed had my tummy measured and listend to her heartbeat..

im still measuring big..and they said they will probably schedule a growth ultrasound around 36/37 weeks to see how big she is..

we went and had the 3d/4d ultrasound done..that took alittle time since she was facing my back when i first laid down..after walking around for a few minutes she turned around..and we got some cute shots..and have a dvd of it all..it was a really fun experience..

then we had our birthing class..me and the hubby got into a fight on our way there..grr..i was sooo upset..it seems everytime we do something for this baby we get into a fight..but all was fixed before we went in..the class ended up be very educational..im really glad we went to it..and woohoo..hubby was the only hubby out of the 6 couples there that held the baby right!!! :D

i finally found a pediatrican..that took awhile to find..we go for a prenatal visit in about 2 weeks to meet the doctors!!

i think my shower is this weekend..but im not really sure..its a surprise..i guess i will find out!! lol..

im starting to get nervous..i just wish i can be given the time on when ill be going into labor..thats whats scaring me the most..everything else that has to do with childbirth isnt scaring me..i just wanna know when!!! lol..

Brittany- I have been checking for updates, but haven't added anything myself. I am very excited for you. I know these last few weeks of waiting are hard, but enjoy the time with your hubby and by yourself before the baby arrives. And don't worry too much about the estimated weight. Myers weighed a pound less than they thought he would based on an ultrasound done at 36 weeks. By the way, did you have your suprise shower like you thought you would?

Myers is 10 months and I can't believe how quickly time has flown. We are starting to think about Christmas and birthday presents. What are y'all getting your little ones for Christmas? We are thinking about getting Myers a swing to hang from one of the trees in our backyard.

I got PJ a swing for the tree last year when he turned 1, he loves it. Myers will be very happy.

My son is turning 11 in 10 days. I got him a DS to replace the one that he brokw several months ago. He is also very much into Bakugan stuff.

PJ turns 2 in Dec. I am at a loss as to what to get him for either his birthday or Christmas. The kid is very spoiled as it is. He has stuff at both grandmas and his dads and my house. Between all of the above he has everything it seems. I need to think of something original.

i go back to the doctors on tuesday..if i make it there..and then we will discuss our options..
if i make it that far..i think i might ask for a c section..since they wont do anything for a few days after that appointment..
by then it will be 7 weeks from when we found out she was measuring aover 6 pounds..
shes gonna be a HUGE baby! im scared to deliver that! lol..

Brittany- This is just my opinion and you can take it or leave it, but I would not ask for a c-section unless you need one. People seem to think it is the easy way out but the recovery is much worse that a vaginal birth. I had a pretty easy c-section recovery (Myers was breech) with no complications, but I was in a lot of pain and couldn't drive, walk up stairs except when neccesary, or pick up anything heavier than DS for two weeks. I mean that cut straight through your abdominal muscles which takes a long time to recover from. My friends who had vaginal births (even the ones with tears) seemed to have an easier time with their recoveries. That is just my experience though.

We just put up our Christmas tree with the monorail circling it. We will see what Myers thinks of it in the morning. I am so excited about his first Christmas!

Congrats Brittany! Welcome Cheyenne! 20 hours! I bet she is worth it though!

On a sad note, I miscarried last week at 6 weeks and had to have a D&C on Friday. I'm still in sort of shock by it all. We weren't trying to get pregnant, I was on the pill. But we did embrace it and were super excited. It would have been my boyfriend's first. He was my champion through it all though, he was wonderful and caring, all while trying to deal with his own feelings about it. :(

So we decided that we are not going to go back on the pill. So if we do get pregnant again great, and if not then no stress about it either. But I do hope it happens again.

Congrats Brittany! I know you are glad to finally meet and hold Cheyenne! I think it's funny that the HUGE baby they predicted is such a tiny little thing!

Lizzy- I am so sorry for your loss. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

We now have a walker on our hands. Myers took his first unaided steps on Wednesday night at church. I was so glad to get the chance to be there, although I am bummed that George didn't get to witness it first hand (he had to work late and wasn't at church with us).

Thanks for the sympathy guys. It was really hard to deal with. I think I am doing better now.

Today is PJ's second birthday! I can't believe how fast the past 2 years went by!

jsut wanted to give a little update..
well lil Ms Cheyenne is now almost 4 weeks old!
where did the time go??

she was great for about the first week home..woke up we feed and changed her and back to sleep...now-a-days she stays up after all that for a while..and some days just never goes back to sleep inbetween those feedings..
but she still seems to get the message to go to sleep at night..so i cant really complain..lol

she is a gassy baby..and since i stopped breast feeding 2 weeks ago..she doesnt poop as much..and i swear thats all she does in her spare time now..is trying to poop..since i guess she was soo use to going every time she ate..this once..maybe twice a day is really getting to her..

shes been lifting her head up when we go to burp her since the 2nd day of her life..so shes getting really good at the already..
we just got a play/tummy mat for christmas..so im gonna try that out soon..

we go for her one month check up this coming monday..and shes getting at least one shot!

i think thats it for now..
