I've been an Annual Pass holder for a few years now, but I've only been a DVC member since August. I usually renew my pass and get the renewal discount ($40.00). This year I can get the DVC discount ($100.00).

In August I renewed DW and DD at the discounted price, then joined DVC on the trip and received the additional $100.00 discount per pass. So, the total savings was $140.00 per pass. My pass expires in January and we have a January trip planned.

My question is, can these be combined? or was I just lucky to get both discounts the first time?

No, you always get the renewal and DVC discounts as long as you actually renew.

The only way you don't is if you miss the renewal period and have to actually buy a new pass.

The only thing you have to watch, though, is making sure you'll get enough use out of the pass to make it worth your while. Sometimes it's more cost-effective to just let it expire, pay the extra 40 bucks, and get the extra time.
