Dec. 10, 1879 – Ernest Howard Shepard, who would bring “Winnie the Pooh and Friends” to life with his drawings, was born in St. John’s Wood, London, England.
Dec. 10, 1903 – Author Mary Norton, whose novels The Magic Bed-Knob and Bonfires and Broomsticks would be the basis for the 1971 Disney feature “Bedknobs and Broomsticks,” was born in London, England.
Dec. 10, 1904 – Actor George J. Lewis, who played the role of Alejandre in Disney’s Zorro TV series, was born in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Dec. 10, 1923 – Actor Harold Gould, who portrayed the grandpa in Disney’s 2003 “Freaky Friday” and supplied the voice of Old Denahi in Disney’s 2003 animated “Brother Bear” was born in Schenectady, N.Y.
Dec. 10, 1932 – Disney’s Silly Symphony cartoon “Santa’s Workshop” was released.
Dec. 10, 1937 – Disney’s 9-minute Donald Duck cartoon “Donald’s Ostrich” was released.
Dec. 10, 1939 – The first Donald Duck Sunday page was published. The Sunday pages were written by Bob Karp and drawn by Al Taliaferro.
Dec. 10, 1941 – Original Mouseketeer Tommy Kirk, whose appearance include “The Mickey Mouse Club,” “Old Yeller,” “Babes in Toyland,” and “Son of Flubber,” was born in Louisville, Kentucky.
Dec. 10, 1941 – Chad Stuart, the voice of Flaps (one of the four singing Vultures) in Disney’s 1967 “The Jungle Book,” was born in England. (Stuart is best known as half of the 60s singing duo Chad and Jeremy.)
Dec. 10, 1954 – Chris Miller, Walt Disney’s grandson, was born in Monterey County, Ca.
