Request for Pixie Dust/Prayers

The other day my parents informed me that my great-aunt, who I consider myself close to, went to a specialist to check out her mouth only to discover that she has stage 4 oral cancer. She has been complaining to her dentist for a while now about a pain in her mouth, but he never gave it a second thought. To make matters worse, she is diabetic as well, which could complicate things.

She lives far away from us, and it upsets me that I can't go visit her, but the doctors say all hope isn't lost yet, thank heavens. I thought I would send out the request in hopes that pixie dust and prayers might work their magic.

I'm so sorry your aunt is going through this and you are suffering with worry for her. I wish you all the best.

My dentist screens for cancer at my regular visits. I'm kind of surprised that hers was so cavalier about it, but of course, things could be missed. Still, this is a good reminder for people to make sure their dentist does responsible, regular, and thorough cancer screening.
